[Bug 50860] Re: partitions are shown in Computer folder, but are useless

2006-08-31 Thread Henrik Nilsen Omma
This bug is looking difficult to reproduce as the reporter has made
changes to fstab, without it being clear what the defaults were or to
what extent Nautilus should be able to cope with such a changed
configuration. Please re-open if you can reproduce this issue on a
default install (preferably Edgy). If you make changes to fstab, please
document the changes and resulting effect clearly. Thank you.

You forgot to add option 'auto' in the fstab line. I don't exactly
remember its place, perhaps you should put it instead of 'defaults'.

2006-08-18 Thread Joachim Noreiko
Having fixed my fstab so the mounts are correct and uncommented, eg

/dev/sda7 /media/sda7 vfatdefaults0 0

I now get this message:
mount: only root can mount /dev/sda7 on /media/sda7

If I mount sda7 myself with the terminal, double-clicking the corresponding
icon in Computer produces nothing at all.

I'm using Dapper.

I've made changes to my fstab.
The problem appears to be that despite this, the Computer folder still shows
all existing partitions, even if fstab mounts them elsewhere or does not
currently mount them.

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Is that entry
listed to /etc/fstab? What sort of drive or partition is that?

Please check if you have deleted/commented partition entries from
/etc/fstab accidentally.

When I commented the entries in my fstab file then I got same errors.
