This is solved in Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" LTS. I am using Lucid with all updates. ufw.log is included in the left pane by default. I can File->Open, to open it and add it. But it was not there by default for me. But perhaps it would be on a fresh install. What version of Ubuntu are you using? Because I tried to reproduce this issue under Lucid and is displayed correctly (gnome-utils 2.30.x).
