This is still marked incomplete. Is there any more information I can
provide?

That is the bug -- there is no way (AFAIK) to restore the default theme
once it has been changed.

not sure to understand your issue, the button being on the left is
specific to the default ubuntu themes, all other themes have those on
the right, there is no way to change that in the interface it's in the
theme description

[Bug 561823] Re: Default Gnome theme can not be restored

2010-04-21 Thread jimav
I'm not sure what a guest session is. I was logged in as a normal user via
auto-login-after-reboot.
The user was the user created during the full install process.

Sebastien, you said everything seems to work as it should and are not
confirming that you see the problem. That's great to hear, but to move
this ticket towards resolution it will help to get some specifics.

So, would you please perform the actions in comment #5 and post your results.
Specifically:
  - Did the buttons move to the right side of the window headers when you
selected a theme (or are on the right already)?
  - Were you somehow able to move the buttons back to the left side? If so
please say exactly how you did it.

Thanks.

2010-04-14 Thread jimav
Ok. Would you please post the exact steps needed to relocate the window
buttons back to the left side of the header bar?

(or if they never moved to the right side for you, say that). I'll try to
figure out what is different in my install.
I did add a number of extra packages beyond the default set, but AFIK nothing
which should affect Gnome themes; I'll attach output from dpkg-query -l.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

[Bug 561823] Re: Default Gnome theme can not be restored

2010-04-13 Thread jimav
Sebastien,
The steps to reproduce are as follows:

I think you are asking me to re-install my whole system from scratch, which is
a big effort!
Or maybe just Gnome (not sure how to do that separately...)

I'm willing to re-install if necessary, but first want to be sure that
you've checked for yourself and don't immediately see the problem.

Specifically, can you use System-Prefs-Appearance to put window
buttons back on the left side of window headers?

(If you can't, then you have confirmed the bug. If you can, please post
what exactly you did and I'll investigate further, including re-
installing to verify first-time behavior).

Thanks.

[Bug 561823] Re: Default Gnome theme can not be restored

2010-04-13 Thread jimav
[2nd try].

Sebastian, the steps to reproduce are as follows:
  1. System-Preferences-Appearance; click any theme, then close the dialog
  2. System-Preferences-Appearance; try to put the buttons back on the left
side of window headers
   (you can't)

So, would you please try the above? If you CAN put the buttons back on
the left side, while also restoring the blue-tinted(default) theme, then
please post exactly what you did and I'll investigate (including re-
installing to confirm first-time behavior).

Thank you.
-Jim
