Actually now that I do more testing I find that in fact the Radiance, Ambiance, Dust, Dust Sand and other themes that I have never fully get applied. I get window decorations but globally right-clicking on the desktop still shows a menu that looks like old-style gnome. I didn't change the session start software in any way.
