[Bug 579270] Re: Improper handling of Symlinked files

2010-09-03 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
comment from the upstream developer:

"I checked with my version of brasero and all seems fine
but maybe I did not understand what you said correctly.

Let me explain how brasero deals with symlinks :
there are two options (controlled in the filtered files area or a Data Project,
click the Option button) either brasero uses the symlink and therefore the
project size will (or should reflect the size of the symlinks) or it replaces
them with the files they actually points to and therefore the size of the
project reflects the size of the actual files.

Could there be any confusion? Could you try how brasero reacts with:
- option replace symlinks off
- option replace symlinks on
please?
"

Could you please reply to those questions here or in the upstream bug ?
Thanks in advance.

2010-05-31 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody
experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the
software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. Thanks in advance!

[Bug 579270] Re: Improper handling of Symlinked files

2010-05-19 Thread Gregory Smith
(And BTW I found you can still set this stuff from the app; after you
add files there's a 'filter' thing at the bottom left; when opened
there's an 'options' button).

Is there a way to find out what command line is sent to genisoimage
when it's run by brasero (I guess you could make a python wrapper for
it). Maybe something in your file names, or the total length of the
command line, is causing a problem.

Interesting. I figured that might be it, but it's already checked.

[Bug 579270] Re: Improper handling of Symlinked files

2010-05-17 Thread Gregory Smith
Wow, I didn't know it was possible to burn symlinks, but there it is:
there needs to be an -f option to genisoimage or you get a symlink (or
nothing) instead of the file. I did a test with brasero and I got the
file rather than the link.

Take a look in the gconf-editor, under apps/brasero/filter. All three
items in there are ticked for me, it looks like the last one
'replace_sym' can cause your problem if unticked. I think older versions
of brasero used to have menus to edit this stuff, but I can't find it in
the 10.4 version (Likewise, at some point we lost some controls for the
'remote desktop' that are still actually there and settable with gconf-
editor...)

2010-05-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Andrew, which version of Ubuntu are you using? Brasero seems to work
fine for me with symlinks.

In the future, consider running the command "ubuntu-bug brasero" to
automatically include information such as version numbers when you
report your bug. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/ReportingBugs if you
want more information about how to use ubuntu-bug.
