Attaching the stacktrace for the file 03.pdf, given at comment #3. Followed the instrcutions from here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace . Only libpixman-1-0-dbg has been installed, as arithmetic exception happens in that library. After starting evince with the test file, a scroll down is needed, in order to trigger this bug. As a workaround you can use okular. When I tried to open the attached PDF on my desktop, evince closes it straight away. So I use bash and type evince 03.pdf.
