Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
The path location bar of Nautilus doesn't appear by default when configured so in gconf-editor, and disappears on navigation. That is, when the gconf-editor entry under /apps/nautilus/preferences/ always_use_location_entry is checked, nautilus opens without it anyway. Additionally, when browsing up or down using the back/forwards or parent buttons, after having used the ctrl-L short-cut to bring up the location bar, the path location bar disappears again. Every time! While that second part of the complaint might sound similar to bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/27064 I do not believe it is, as it has nothing to do with the length of the path. 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, a) close all nautilus windows b) check the entry /apps/nautilus/preferences/ always_use_location_entry c) open nautilus via the 'home' places menu item 2. the behavior you expected, and My home directory being shown in Nautilus with path location bar visible. 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
