[Bug 630460] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()
@John: I'm not sure which package will install the correct schema. If you don't use Empathy, simple move the /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas /ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override file to some backup and you should be fine after recompiling the schemas. Worked for me, and the file's contents indicate only stuff dealing with Empathy anyways. -- gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

And, gsettings-data-convert now runs fine. Thank you, Lars. -- gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 630460] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()
It's not only gcalctool which works again. On my machine evince is running again too. Thanks for the hint Lars. Is there a possibility to install the libaries only instead of installing the whole bunch of stuff? Here it was: u...@machine:~$ sudo aptitude install empathy [sudo] password for user: The following NEW packages will be installed: empathy empathy-common{a} libfolks-telepathy0{a} libfolks0{a} libtelepathy-farsight0{a} libtelepathy-logger1{a} nautilus-sendto-empathy{a} python-papyon{a} telepathy-butterfly{a} telepathy-gabble{a} telepathy-haze{a} telepathy-logger{a} telepathy-mission-control-5{a} telepathy-salut{a} 0 packages upgraded, 14 newly installed, 0 to remove and 31 not upgraded. forgot: gcalctool works fine after installing Empathy again and recompiling the schemas, as given in the example. -- gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 630460] Re: gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()
okay, the problem is based in not having Empathy installed, as there is a dependency in /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu- artwork.gschema.override. This prevents the schemas from being built correctly, if Empathy is not installed (like on my system): r...@host:~# glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ No such schema `org.gnome.Empathy.conversation' specified in override file `/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/ubuntu-artwork.gschema.override' Installing Empathy again or deleting the ubuntu- artwork.gschema.override, gcalctool works normally. As does Evince, which as the same problems: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/621507 This seems directly related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/602175 -- gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

helkal...@eve:~$ gcalctool GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.gcalctool' is not installed aborting... Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) Indeed, the error feedback is almost the same as with Evince. gcalctool GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.gcalctool' is not installed aborting... Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped) I had a very similar problem with evince yesterday. I don't think that gcalctool or evince have the bugs in them, there's definitely a missing/corrupt library or something similar. -- gcalctool crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630460 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gcalctool in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
