[Bug 662705] Re: gvfsd-trash fills up memory
I can confirm that this is still occurring in 12.04. If the trash bin is very full, Cairo-dock consumes massive amounts of memory, ultimately bringing the system to a screeching halt. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662705 Title: gvfsd-trash fills up memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/662705/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 662705] Re: gvfsd-trash fills up memory
Hi, I'm using Natty and I was affected by this bug this week because of a bin with 3GB of files. Gvfsd-trash and cairo-dock processes took all the CPU. Problem was "solved" by emptying my bin. So yeah, this bug still occurs in Ubuntu 11.04 :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662705 Title: gvfsd-trash fills up memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/662705/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 662705] Re: gvfsd-trash fills up memory
Hello, This bug are confirmed in my system (Ubuntu 10.10 x32, cairo-dock with cairo backend). That's happened when Dustbin Applet try to know the weight of many elements I put inside the trash. In my case, about 1500 (images, text, old folders, etc.), but with a limited weight (total was just 25 Mio). So, the CPU is used at 100% and the RAM increased for attain 100% too. "Top" show me, that the fault to gvfsd-trash and cairo-dock (cf screenshot). ** Attachment added: "Bug of gvfs and Cairo-Dock" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/662705/+attachment/1747801/+files/Bug_gvfs%26CD.png -- gvfsd-trash fills up memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 662705] Re: gvfsd-trash fills up memory
Hi, I can add the following information: the dock browses recursively the URI trash:/ and gets the size of each file, using g_file_enumerate_children with G_FILE_QUERY_INFO_NOFOLLOW_SYMLINKS. I've personnally noticed that the whole process takes a lot of time when there are a lot of files, whereas the more basic method (using fopen and fstat) is much faster and gives the same result (I don't have network volumes). Thanks for your concern. -- gvfsd-trash fills up memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
