Looking at gimp 2.4.7 in intrepid alpha 6 the artifact is much smaller than i your screenshot and only on the left side. I'm using the NewHuman theme. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Intrepid Ibex. Don't you see the remainder of the regular GtkRange appearance at the beginning and the end of the range selectors (H, S and V for instance). Sorry.. I don't understand or see what the GtkRange artifacts are in the screen shot that you indicated. I am looking a the same dialog in Gimp 2.4.5 (in Ubuntu 8.04) and I can't see any significant difference, so I'm probably missing something.
