Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
When I start my laptop (Acer Aspire 5734z-4836), I can see the bios, and I can see grub. When gdm first starts, it is so black that it looks like the screen is off. It still displays things on the screen; If you look at it at just the right angle it looks like maybe .4% brightness. I thus deduced it shuts off the backlight. Shutting the laptop lid and opening it again turns the backlight on. I am using Natty Narwhal. I would very much like to not need to shut and open my lid every time I use this operating-system, and to that end, I will give all and any files required. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/709994 Title: backlight turns off when gdm loads -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
