At least in ubuntu/natty nautilus works perfektly -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713651 Title: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/713651/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 713651] Re: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click
I also get a crash when double-clicking any item in main file/folder list, or whenever a new window/popup is requested, such as right- clicking a file and selecting Properties. As workaround, using PCManFM (pcmanfm from terminal, or Applications/Accessories/File Manager from top menubar). [Bug 713651] Re: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click
Hi, * installed nautilus-dbg * disabled nautilus autorestart in /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop and killed it with nautilus --quit , than ran nautilus in valgrind. This made valgrind crash! * installed gtk-dgb, cairo-dbg, glib-dbg debugging symbols * ran nautilus in valgrind once as usual while nautilus is managing the desktop, see valgrind_asdesktop.log * killed nautilus completely then ran nautilus in valgrind using --no-desktop option, again valgrind crashes with sigsegv, see valgrind_nodesktop_killed.log * ran a backtrace in gdb as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace and added the log ** Attachment added: "logs of nautilus in valgrind and gdb" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/713651/+attachment/1941120/+files/valgrind.gdb.logs.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713651 Title: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 713651] Re: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a valgrind log following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713651 Title: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 713651] Re: nautilus crashes in vnc env. on double-click
** Attachment added: "backtrace.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/713651/+attachment/1831758/+files/backtrace.log ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus I started a vncserver -geometry 1280x1024 -depth 16 * logged on to over local network. On a simple double-click nautilus crashes when using inside vnc environment. - The vncserver log says (don't know what information apport provides upon my "Report a bug" click, maybe the Xorg.0.log, which is not relevant here): + The vncserver log says Initializing nautilus-gdu extension (nautilus:10512): GConf-CRITICAL **: gconf_value_free: assertion `value != NULL' failed + + The XsessionErrors.txt provided by apport is irrelevant here, since the + log goes to .vnc/hostname:1.log On the console on which I started the vncserver I can see the backtrace, which I attached (backtrace.log).
