[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-05-10 Thread dhd
Hi, I have exactly the same problem, on an installation of Feisty
upgraded from Edgy, upgraded from Dapper. The keyboard-indicator was
showing 'us' instead of 'USA' and I got the dialog box when trying to
open keyboard-properties. If I stop evolution-data-server and all other
evolution crap before I log out and log back in, the problem goes away.

In fact, it seems that this also affects my ability to use the
drivemount-applet. I tried about 5 times add it to the panel without
any success, but then after killing Evolution and logging out and back
in, I had 5 drivemount applets waiting for me!

And, it wasn't detecting my portable music player properly in Rhythmbox,
but now it is.

IMHO Evolution should be an optional part of the Ubuntu desktop. It's
not as functional an e-mail client as Thunderbird, and Google Calendars
is a lot more useful as a calendar. But that's just my opinion.

[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-05-10 Thread dhd
More data points:

I am not able to replicate this by creating a new user, starting
Evolution, adding drivemount and keyboard applets, logging out and back
in again. Everything works fine. So there must be some random crud in
my GConf registry that is ultimately causing this problem.

If I start Evolution again as my regular user, then log out and back in
again (causing evolution-data-server to be added to my session), then
the problem reappears. The keyboard indicator is wrong and the
drivemount-applet doesn't start.

Let me know if there is anything in particular that I should run strace
on, or any part of GConf I should be looking at...

does it happen if you stop evolution-data-server before log-in?

[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-03-19 Thread Vytas
I can confirm it, too (dist-upgraded edgy - feisty). But I can confirm
it only on my user, i.e. some residual config might be sitting in gconf
or somewhere else, I can't find it out now. It does not occur on other
user (that user was present on edgy too, but rarely used) on my machine.

Can someone else also test with a fresh user, and compare results to the
users with remaining config? Thank you

Although IMO it is a bug anyway.

The bug as described on the original report can easily be reproduced on
my Feisty installation.

Could anyone else please confirm this before reporting it upstream?

Would be interesting to know if that happens on feisty. If that's the
case that should be forwarded upstream

So it's rather a xserver-xorg bug? How does this bug differ from bug
58083?

58083?

Well, I do not know whether the cause of the bug is the same as bug
58083, but the effect is definitely not the same. Just read the initial
bug descriptions.

I do not have enough knowledge of xserver-xorg to tell whether it comes
from there, but I'd rather think it might be a session thing, since the
bug only appears when logging off and back on again.

[Bug 76011] Re: Keyboard Indicator applet does not show correct text after a second login

2007-01-14 Thread Gert Kulyk
I can confirm this behaviour. It seems to be at least partly related to
bug #58083 - after installing a fixed xserver-xorg-core-package, that is
one where XkbGetKeyboard-function is fixed, the problem vanished.
