[Bug 774273] Re: unlock screen no longer works

2011-05-23 Thread Mark A. Hershberger
The permission was incorrect. It should have been in the group "shadow"
to make unix_chkpwd work. Group permissions were changed after
installing isc-dhcp-server. I'm filing a bug against that package.

2011-05-06 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Could your /etc/shadow file possibly have the wrong permissions?

Do a "ls -l /etc/shadow" and paste the result here, please.

[Bug 774273] Re: unlock screen no longer works

2011-05-06 Thread Maarten L. Hekkelman
Happens here too, each time I activate the screensaver I cannot log back
in normally. Started this morning. I'm running maverick btw.

If this happens, you can choose 'switch user' and then login again using
the normal GDM login screen. So it is the screen saver dialog that does
not recognise the password. auth.log says:

Tried your suggestion of leaving a message to verify that the keys were
working correctly. They were. I still couldn't log in.

[Bug 774273] Re: unlock screen no longer works

2011-04-30 Thread Patrik Nilsson
I had a similar problem which made me at first unable to enter the
Ubuntu session. It was caused by my right shift key had not correctly
been recognised as released. Maybe because of at the moment heavy loaded
CPU, missed interrupt.

Steps I used:
1) Leave message
2) Enter password (or all keys that is included)
3) Press all kinds of keys (i.e. shift, ctrl) until it is correctly shown.
4) Press Cancel to don't leave the message.

It worked for me!
