*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported:
There are no common names for applications, there is no default popular keyboard shortcut to access the System Monitor (like Ctrl+Alt+Del or Command+Opt+Esc), and there is no tab for applications that the user actually knows are running (like open windows). We need to look at Microsoft's task manager for insight on how to make the System Monitor both for Ubuntu's target audience (everyday people) and big tech-junkies like myself. This can be a security risk, especially for people new to GNU/Linux and Ubuntu, as a serious problem could be running without the user able to stop it easily. ** Affects: gnome-applets Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886620 Title: System Monitor is too complex for everyday users.
