Maybe this helps to troubleshoot: Since the bug report I tried Suse and other Linux packages. Only the PCLinuxOS http://www.pclinuxos.com/ works 100% perfect with this laptop! Thanks, I tried to change compiz. As I said earlier I am new to Ubuntu. I just could not find, even with the compiz FAQ help, the file or settings to modify. Then I tried the worst: I disabled the graphical login manager hoping to get around the problem. I get my login and PW prompt and simply I do not know how to proceed from the $ prompt or how to get back to the previous! I do occasionally get the invisible login prompt and am able to log in and continue as usual. Hope this helps.
