[Bug 294458] [NEW] nautilus memory leak
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 64bit Package version:1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1 When nautilus tries to browse a folder with the attatched file in it, Memory usage increase extensively until all ram and swap is filled, until program is killed. This also affected firefox when I was trying to upload the responsible file. I have renamed the file to memleak.bin, which prevents thumbnailing of the file. If thumbnailing is disabled the memory leak does not occur. The memory leak occurs in Ubuntu 8.04, if the file is given a .jpg extension, but not at all in Ubuntu 7.10 The file originated from my 'wine' windows folder, called "INSNPREF.32n", which I believe to be a windows trojan which somehow affected wine. Steps to reproduce: 1. download attatched file 2. extract the archive 3. browse folder and remove '.bin' from the filename. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus memory leak https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 291878] Re: Notebook Volume Up/Down Buttons Misbehaving
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 268949 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268949 I'm not convinced that this bug is a duplicate of #268949, for two reasons: 1. 268949 describes the volume not responding at all to keyboard/button input. In this bug, the volume does respond to input, but does so continuously. I have verified that the GUI slider in the panel app does move up/down (and continues to move to max/min volume) when the volume buttons are pushed. 2. 268949 does not report the additional problems with mouse input after trying to use the volume up/down button. [Bug 290506] Re: cheese doesn't show v4l2 video output and disables output on gstreamer-based apps ran afterwards
Andres, as I said in bugzilla I was wrong about libv4l.. I don't know what made me believe that patch fixed the issue (it was late and I was really tired) but, unfortunately, it doesn't. Also please forgive me if I appeared rude with you, I didn't want it, it's just that lately too much people says cheese doesn't work with intrepid but it's just that many changes went in webcam drivers with 2.27 so some regression went in too and we have no power on it. [Bug 192508] Re: mouse keys turns on randomly
Ok, this may not be a high priority bug, but after 10 months, the bug is still there? FWIW, I also use tsclient (so as client, to connect to a windows machine) and it may be related to the mouse keys switching on, but its hard to find a pattern, and it occurs even when tsclient is not running. But without having run tsclient during a session, I have not yet encountered it afaict. Once you know what is happening, and you know shift+numlock disables it again, it is no drama. But most users will not read this and think ubuntu can not even drive a keyboard without errors. In that light, its a bit disappointing this still isn't fixed. If nothing else, I think a notification should be given when mousekeys are turned on (with or without this bug), so at least people might realize whats going on. [Bug 293797] Re: evolution programs crashes when using inside calendar
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 249373] Re: gnome session does not restore the previous session
At the risk of asking a really stupid question, does anyone have an idea whether there's any likelihood of a workaround such as installing and using the Gnome 2.22 session manager with 2.24? Or using a different session manager entirely? I don't mind hacking my system to get this to work, but if anyone can warn me that I'd be wasting my time, I'd appreciate that. (I ran straight into this on the first machine I upgraded, and I don't want to upgrade any others unless I can find a fix.
