[Bug 352215] Re: ekiga crashed with SIGSEGV in calloc()
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago with ekiga version 3.2.0-0ubuntu1. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest version . [If you are using The Karmic Koala = version 3.2.5-1ubuntu1 Or in The Jaunty Jackalope = version 3.2.0-0ubuntu2 ] Can you try with the latest ekiga version and report back ? [Bug 481576] Re: Action on critical battery is not triggered - gnome-power-manager
My hardware is Lenovo s10-2, about 2 months old, battery in mint condition, Ubuntu 9.10 with latest updates applied. Experience: I kept a close watch on Power Statistics - Detail. [Bug 496956] Re: when returning from sleep, nautilus opens removable media
This is 100% reproducible on my laptop running a fully updated Ubuntu 9.10. I'm using a thinkpad X61s with an internal SD card reader. The thinkpad also has a docking station with a DVD writer, and if I resume when the docking station is connected and there is a disc in the DVD drive, I also get the What would you like to do with the disc you just inserted dialog in addition to the SD card being opened. I'm going to upgrade my laptop to Lucid for Alpha 3, but as it features the same GNOME version (no 2.30, right?) then I don't assume it will behave differently. Here is my kernel syslog from waking up - I don't see anything interesting there except the last line about the cdrom. I think the SD reader is connected internally through USB, so that might be related. ---8--- Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] Initializing CPU#1 Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] Calibrating delay using timer specific routine.. 2792.96 BogoMIPS (lpj=13964806) Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] CPU: L1 I cache: 32K, L1 D cache: 32K Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] CPU: L2 cache: 4096K Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] CPU 1/0x1 - Node 0 Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] CPU: Physical Processor ID: 0 Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.109171] CPU: Processor Core ID: 1 Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.270816] CPU1: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU L7300 @ 1.40GHz stepping 0a Feb 11 10:53:51 sepiroth kernel: [50198.270881] CPU0 attaching NULL sched-domain. [Bug 327793] Re: Window decorations in title bar missing with compiz enabled
I have the same problem with the window decorations. I found to solve it but just until the next reboot I have compiz settings off, and I even had my compiz uninstalled when this problem occurred. Temporary solution: I turn Compiz effects to Normal I wait for it to apply Keep settings Turn back to Compiz effects Off (for when it's on - it slows down everything). Today I found what the problem is - it is XORG! I've tried the solution proposed by w4w4n and I found out that my xorg.conf file is gone! I remember there was some xorg updates recently - so, I suppose, the bug is due to these recent xorg updates which, apparently, deleted the existant xorg.cong file !without backup! I have a xorg.conf backup - but I cannot reach it for the moment (I'm far from home). What should I do to reconfigure xorg without failure? [Bug 160862] Re: users-admin (System-Administration-Users and Groups) overwrites group file
The fix (as linked aboved) is simply to ensure split() stops when it has 4 items. That way, we ensure we won't pass more arguments than the D-Bus binding expects, which prevents the script from dying. So the garbage gets packed in the last field, i.e. users that are members of the group. This is not a problem since clients will simply get unknown users with strange names and ignore them. Ideally, we should check that every field is valid, but for a backport, a one-line fix that works is better. Anyway, if the line is not correct, we can hardly behave better than clearing the list of members of the group. -- users-admin (System-Administration-Users and Groups) overwrites group file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/160862 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-tools in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
Ah, my problem was misunderstanding the SCIM config See http://www.scim-im.org/forums#nabble-td4554222|a4554222 Basically I found that in the SCIM Global Setup I had Shift-Control-KeyRelease-Shift_L, Shift-Control-KeyRelease-Shift_R, Shift-Control-KeyRelease-Control_L, and Shift-Control-KeyRelease-Control_R defined. Removing these stops the Control-Shift trigger. But I missed this even looking at the SCIM dialog multiple times because it looks more complex than a Shift-Control keypress So although the Control-Shift in scim is incompatible with Ctrl-Shift-* shortcuts, I can disable it, so this isn't a problem for me know -- Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36812 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 520442] [NEW] luks header of newly created partition not written to disk, on reboot partition unrecognised
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility I have now managed to produce an unusable luks partition 4 times. 2 times with the mint rc (karmic based) loopback mounted from hd via grub2 and now 2 times with lucid 20100210 64 bit daily iso loopback mounted from a usb stick via grub2 on a different notebook. Here is how: use gparted to make space by making the main partition shorter. I made empty space of about 10GB at the end of the disk. use palimpsest to put an encrypted partition in this newly created empty space. tried with both ext4 and ext3. used default options. the filesystem is created and can be mounted. put stuff in. unmount. shut down. on reboot there is no luks partition anymore: gparted says unknown and palimpsest says unrecognised sudo most /dev/sdax shows that partition has no luks header. a lot of zeros at the beginning instead. when using palimpsest in the same manner on this faulty partition again to overwrite it with another encrypted partition all worked well. ** Affects: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- luks header of newly created partition not written to disk, on reboot partition unrecognised https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks for catching that one! I've been able to reproduce the crash with an up-to-date Lucid LiveCD. [Bug 520442] Re: luks header of newly created partition not written to disk, on reboot partition unrecognised
** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility I have now managed to produce an unusable luks partition 4 times. 2 - times with the mint rc (karmic based) and now 2 times with lucid - 20100210 64 bit daily iso. + times with the mint rc (karmic based) loopback mounted from hd via grub2 + and now 2 times with lucid 20100210 64 bit daily iso loopback mounted + from a usb stick via grub2 on a different notebook. -- luks header of newly created partition not written to disk, on reboot partition unrecognised https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
If I may expand on it a bit, with SCIM on and XKB layout switching set to CTRL+SHIFT, there are 3 contenders for CTRL+SHIFT, and they supersede each other in this order: 1. XKB 2. SCIM 3. Application's CTRL+SHIFT-key shortcuts The patch from FreeDesktop.org bug #865 fixes it so that 1 (XKB) no longer blocks 3, but it still blocks 2 because CTRL+SHIFT release is eaten by XKB and SCIM doesn't see it. [Bug 255008] Re: Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen]
I've marked Bug #512622, filed myself, as duplcate of this bug. It is describing the wiredness mentioned in Bug #254939 which I also marked as duplcate. I'm aware it does so in a confusing manner. Lucid Lynx is also affected. In the essence my search which also led me here, ends up to following: Introducing evdev managing keybords resulted in changing keymapping of the non ascii keys (guess!) in a non reasonable way. Did all that keyboards out there change the same? ;o)) At least this is incompatible to xmodmapfiles created for xfree86 driven keyboards. from my point of view solution could be: most elegant: - make evdev output reasonble (i.e xfree86/xmodmap compatible, for all that keyboards out there already are ;o)) ) if evdev output is reasonable in any way (I don't believe): - make xmodmap detect evdev driven keyboard and handle apropriately or worse: - kick xmodmap to avoid confusion grml.org team (recent debian testing) solved that problem by managing the keybord by xfree86 and all the rest by evdev (don't know how, but it works as expected with my old xmodmap files) Worst case in my opinion is to kick xmodmap, because we will loose xkeycaps - a great tool to manage complexity of keybord issues in a quit easy and portable manner. I'm not really an expert, so maybe I'm lost completely with this. Other conclusions ending in a working solution for this pain always apreciated. :o)) -- Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 410072] Re: A middle mouse button paste in gedit does not move cursor to insertion point
Ok, now here comes the workaround: http://github.com/potyl/gedit-scrollpaste Emmanuel Rodriguez aka 'potyl' wrote a 'plugin' which fixes the scrolling when pasting text with the mouse. Unfortunately, it's placed in sourcecode only in a 'repository-style', which means there's no configure script. As I'm not very familar with these auto* tools, it took me a day to make it compile, but for me it's worth the pain. In short form: After archiv extraction, call in the top level dir: intltoolize --force --copy, intltool-prepare, aclocal, automake --add-missing, autoheader, autoconf, Then I created a 'Makefile.in' on the top level dir: all: $(MAKE) -C src || break ; Now it should be possible to call the usual configure, make. I prefered to copy the files manually instead of 'make install'. I can confirm this thing works for me! BTW: Potyl demands the use of gtksourceview-2.0 = 2.8.1, so it's not applicable to Ubuntu jaunty and below. -- A middle mouse button paste in gedit does not move cursor to insertion point https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
