I don't quite understand the first paragraph. Sounds like the reason is that the file is corrupted? This happens only for some pictures, I can not recognize a pattern. [Bug 558816] [NEW] gnome-power-manager(?) makes my screen flicker and hibernates my computer. Even with power cable attached.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager My laptop is quite old (4,5 years to be exact) but is fine considering its age. The battery life is real low though (as expected). I recently upgraded to Lucid and the first few days it was working nicely. However a few days ago the computer started hibernating because of low power (complete with a notification and everything) even though the power coord was plugged in. This happened every time i used the computer and always after around 1-15 minutes of usage. I thought maybe the connections in the computer was at fault but then i managed to kill the GDM session, install blackbox and run that session instead of gnome and i have now been using my computer for about 1,5 hour. I suspect that gnome-power-manager is at fault here. This is just an educated guess though. This still happens under Lucid Beta 2, as well. I should point out that (on my machine, at least) logging in and then logging back out, or rebooting the machine, or restarting X, results in the theme and colors returning to normal. It's not necessary to edit config files. That is, the unexpected theming is only temporary. Nevertheless, this is a weird usability bug, and disconcerting to a new user. -- GDM login theme change when using accessibility features https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402017 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 558853] [NEW] PC does not hybernate
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager In my Ubuntu 09.10 Karmic and 10.04 Lucid beta2 installation, when requested to hybernate (from the power icon in the panel) the PC gets frozen: - the monitor is switched off; - the HD read/write LED stays ON. Then, when I force to shutdown from the PC power button and I reboot, after the fscheck, no wired LAN network is detected (according what the related panel icon says). To finally restore functionality, I have to reboot once again. [Bug 558872] [NEW] empathy accounts fail to connect after manually unlocking keyring
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: empathy The following problem only occurs when I use auto-login. If I DO NOT use auto-login, empathy is automatically started after logging in and my accounts connect automatically, i.e. there's a green speech bubble icon in the indicator applet and my contact list is populated. If I DO use auto-login, upon starting up I am prompted with "Enter password to unlock your login keyring". I enter my keyring successfully, but then empathy does not appear to be started at all (e.g. no speech bubble icon in the indicator applet). If I manually start empathy via the Indicator Applet, the contacts window is blank. If I then do Edit -> Accounts, my accounts are "Offline - Status is set to offline". If I uncheck "Enabled" and then recheck "Enabled", the accounts connect and are reported as "Available". However, the contacts window remains blank. If I Quit empathy and then start empathy again, everything is fine (I finally get the green speech bubble icon and can see my contacts). I do not have the sound muted problem with the normal desktop Totem ("Movie Player"), but every time I open a file with the totem-mozilla plugin, the sound is muted. [Bug 558893] [NEW] Metacity crashes periodically
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity Metacity has been crashing without an error on my hardware since installing Lucid beta 1. I can start it up again in a terminal, but, of course, it never crashes inside the terminal, so I cannot say with what error it crashes. However, this has been happening about ten minutes into every new boot. I do not know where to look for metacity error messages; I will give more information as soon as someone tells me what relevant information to add. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: metacity 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic Uname: Linux 2.6.32-16-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Apr 8 20:39:54 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Beta i386 (20100318) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: metacity ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 lucid metacity -- Metacity crashes periodically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558893 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 558904] [NEW] gstreamer no longer playing nonfree media files
Public bug reported: I've never had a problem with playing restricted formats in Ubuntu, until upgrading to Lucid development branch. Not sure what happened, but now when I click on an mp4 or flv video in nautilus, it opens up totem and asks whether I would like to search for a suitable codec. I let it search, and it finds nothing, so it starts playing the audio only. At first, even mplayer and vlc would also no longer play the files. mplayer gave an error on startup as follows: mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libopencore-amrnb.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32 So, I built libopencore-amrnb0 from source and installed it and now mplayer and vlc are playing the videos fine. Totem still refuses to recognize the videos. I assume I've done something to bork my system, but I would appreciate any input or suggestions for further debugging this problem. Thanks to everyone for their work.
