[Bug 696766] [NEW] Eog is unable to display multipage TIFF but is the default viewer for TIFF files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eog Eye of gnome, the default image viewer of Ubuntu, open only the first page of a multi page TIFF image, hiding from end user existence of other pages. After a little research I've found the this bug have a long story: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132276 Upstream this bug was not fixed because this feature was implemented in Evince, the generic document viewer used by default also by Ubuntu... but for me, and I think also from all other *end users* this is a non sense because evince in Ubuntu is not associated to open by default TIFF files so *end users* who receives a multi page TIFF doesn't know that this TIFF are multi page because EOG completely hide this information, showing only the first page :( Same consideration are reported also here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=385781 I think we need to move forward with a simple and function solution. For example I propose: - make Evince default viewer for TIFF images - make Evince default viewer only for multi page TIFF images (it's possible without adding more and more code?) - adding analogue feature to EOG (maybe using partial code from evince) - EOG should inform in it's gui that this TIFF has more pages and should provide a link to open it Eye of GNOME 2.30.0 Ubuntu Version 10.04 ** Affects: eog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696766 Title: Eog is unable to display multipage TIFF but is the default viewer for TIFF files -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 696773] [NEW] Rhythmbox Play/Pause button not working correctly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Ubuntu 10.10 32bit standard live CD used to install system on a Dell Studio Laptop 1555. Rhythmbox Play/Pause button not working correctly, in both "mini" (from main Gnome bar sound icon) and main Rhythmbox GUI window, and with laptop hot-key Play/pause, worked correctly in Totem Movie Player (v2.32.0), both the button in the Totem GUI and the laptop play/pause hot-key. If you open Rhythmbox, and select a track. You can start the track playing using one of the play buttons, main/mini/hotkey, but after that pressing any one of the play/pause buttons does not pause the track. If you quit from the Rhythmbox you can then repeat (ie start a track using one of the play buttons). Note that pressing the "pause" icon in the GUI causes the button to change to a "Play" button, but the track continues playing. If the "Play" button is now pressed nothing changes, ie it remains as a "Play" button. If you quit from Rhythmbox, re-start Rhythmbox, this behaviour can be repeated. The same is seen if you press the "mini" player "Pause" icon once a track is playing. Suspect (guess) that this issue started after installing the "unity" (netbook) window manager? I cannot be sure as I have also installed the various updates that have been available. The issue above is occuring with the standard Gnome window manager. The same behaviour also occurs if I use the netbook window manager. To confirm that the play/pause buttons had worked previously booted up using standard Gnome 10.10 32bit live CD. Rhythmbox play/pause and laptop hotkey buttons worked corrected. Other buttons (ie the previous and next track) work correctly both in the main GUI, mini player, and using the laptop hotkeys. $ apt-cache policy rhythmbox rhythmbox: Installed: 0.13.1-0ubuntu6 Candidate: 0.13.1-0ubuntu6 Version table: *** 0.13.1-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.13.1-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: rhythmbox 0.13.1-0ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic-pae 2.6.35.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic-pae i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Jan 3 12:25:40 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release i386 (20101007) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_GB.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: rhythmbox ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 maverick ubuntu-une -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696773 Title: Rhythmbox Play/Pause button not working correctly -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 647607] Re: Totem and Recent Files in GNOME Places Menu show 'playbackvideo' instead of the video title and extremely and horrible tootips for recent Youtube streams played on Totem
thanks for your bug report. I have sent this bug to the people writing this software here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=638567 you can make comments there too. ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #638567 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=638567 ** Changed in: totem Importance: Undecided => Unknown ** Changed in: totem Status: New => Unknown ** Changed in: totem Remote watch: None => GNOME Bug Tracker #638567 ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Triaged ** Summary changed: - Totem and Recent Files in GNOME Places Menu show 'playbackvideo' instead of the video title and extremely and horrible tootips for recent Youtube streams played on Totem + Totem shows 'videoplayback' instead of the video title ** Description changed: - I found this technical and aesthetical just some minutes ago, and I - think this is a papercut in all the whole expression. - - The bug title is enought by itself for understand the problem; you can - reproduce it just starting Totem and in the right side panel you choose - Youtube. Then, you find and play the video stream, whatever you want: - What do you have? Same as image 1, the video title, the timeline video - with a 'Youtube' conduct (showing where are you in the video and how - much does it have charged) and other stuff are OK, but the tootip of the - video thumbnail inside Totem is pure pain at my eyes showing ALL the - video URI with the video title... PAPERCUT! If you want the video URI, - you can get it with a right click over the thumbnail (you are not going - to remember the complete URI from the tooltip and write it perfectly - correct in a web browser...) - - OK, that was the first part of the papercut. Well, the video finish and - you decide to go back to work... some hours after you want to see again - the same video from Youtube inside of Totem... Click on Places > Recent - Files... OMFG!? Where is the video I have played on stream?! I see a - 'videoplayback' one, but I'm unsure it is the video I was seeing... This - is a real mistake with Totem and GNOME's Recent Files integration; if I - saw 8 different videos from Youtube, and all of they are called - 'videoplayback', how can I recognize them? Same problem with that - 'videoplayback' tooltip, extremly large (image number 2). - - Well, let's imagine I click this 'videoplayback' waiting that is the - video I played before... Wots! it is, but the Window Title says this - annoying 'videoplayback' AGAIN (image number 3). - - There are my 3 sand grains for Ubuntu :). - - Greetings, - JaD! + after playing a youtube video in totem. if you go to 'Movie' menu and + see the recently played videos, the title for all youtube videos is + 'videoplayback' which makes it quite hard to replay a video. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647607 Title: Totem shows 'videoplayback' instead of the video title -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 694792] Re: rhythmbox crash segfault error 4 in librhythmbox-core.so
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. [Bug 696826] [NEW] can't change keyboard layout
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Hello, Serious keyboard problems with Ubuntu 10.10 I changed my keyboard, now I need to change the layout from "Italy" to "Switzerland French". I opened "gnome-terminal", then typed "sudo gnome-keyboard-properties", went to "Layout" tab, added the new layout, moved it up, pressed "Apply to whole system"and clicked on "Close". The result is as expected: 1. "Switzerland French" 2. "Italy" Everything worked fine till I reboot. After reboot the layout returned from "Switzerland French" to "Italy", so I went again to "gnome-keyboard-properties", and the result was: 1. "Italy" 2. "Switzerland French" At this point I thought, why keeping the old layout, so after moving up "Switzerland French" to the top (again), I deleted the "Italy" layout, and to be sure I applied it to the whole system, closed it, then I tried it in "gedit" (everything was fine the right layout is active), finally I thought let's check it out another time (just the layout I need was in the list of "gnome-keyboard-properties") and reboot the system. After the second reboot the "Italy" layout showed up again on top: 1. "Italy" 2. "Switzerland French" and the wrong layout was active once again. I had this problem also on Ubuntu 8.04 two years back. Can anybody tell me where I can correct this, or at lease give me hint??? Last time I reinstalled Ubuntu, because nobody had an answer to this problem, which is still not corrected. Can anybody tell me where to find those source and config files, I will try to fix this. Upstream users-admin now prevents changing home dir for active users. I don't think we should require a reboot because that's not likely to be useful. usermod currently fails because it checks whether the user is logged in - if only a few processes are still running, they are not likely to block changing the home dir. If you think there should be an override option, file a bug against usermod. But we should make sure this would theoretically work. [Bug 696546] Re: Crypic error comment
Most intriguing. I created an account and now it says my password is invalid. I don't understand why there should be such a dichotomy for bug reporting, and since I can't use GNOME Bugzilla until I get some clarification, I will have to rest here. Frankly, I have had contretemps with Bugzilla software in the past, and I am not impressed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696546 Title: Crypic error comment -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines
I don't think this problem is related to big-endianness. I just had it on a x86 system that was upgraded from feisty -> hardy -> lucid. In my case the fix was simple: apt-get install seahorse-plugins. For whatever reason that dependency doesn't seem to be pulled in when you upgrade. I'd recommend folks try that first if they are having problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201786 Title: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
