Cool.

Here is what you need to do:

* Get Boxes built from git repository (jhbuild[1] is your best bet!)
* Once you have done that, try it out and if you can find bugs, please
do file them.
* If any of the bugs you filed are trivial (we can help you out in
making that assertion), you want to dive into the code and submit
fixes for these bugs.
* If you don't find any trivial bugs yourself, see if you can find one
from open bugs[2].
* if there is still nothing, we can help you find some trivial ones.

At the same time you want to prepare a good proposal with a concrete
plan of action.

You'll probably get into problems with jhbuild and will have specific
questions. There is IRC channel and mailing-list where you can contact
us for help[3]. Please keep in mind that most of us are in Europe/US
so timezone might be an issue. Just saying that please be patient if
you don't get replies in time.

[GSoC 2013] Ability to save and load virtual machine boxes

2013-04-19 Thread Nikhil Siddhartha
Hi everyone,

I am a third year student of Computer Science at IIIT Hyderabad, Hyderabad,
India. I am very interested in doing the project mentioned in the subject
(Ability to save and load virtual machine boxes). I believe, I believe, I
have sufficient experience and skills required for this project.

I have some experience of working with technologies like libvirt and
virtual machines. I have done a project titled 'A Virtualization
Orchestration Layer', which is written in Python and included technologies
like libvirt. I am also well versed in C/C++.

Project description:
Built a fabric that can coordinate the provisioning of compute resources
by negotiating with a set of Hypervisors running across physical servers in
the
data-center.
In simple words, it provides the user with an interface to boot the type of
virtual machine they need (preferred OS, memory specifications, cpu
requirements) on demand. The program finds the physical machine best suited
for booting the virtual machine, then assigns the memory and apu
requirements. Then, boots the OS specified by the user.

I would appreciate it a lot, if I am given a chance to prove my worth of
doing this project.
