I second the request for a specific timeline in the future. I'd also
like to request that the GNOME documentation team be included in (or at
least informed about) the release note writing process from start to
finish. If I hadn't seen Quim's blog post on planet gnome and mentioned
it on the doc list, I doubt that very many of us GDP folks would have
found out that help was needed.

Congratulations to everybody on a great release, let's try to make sure
that the release notes aren't done at the last minute next time!

Sorry, Brent. We had become so reliant on Murray and Davyd handling
everything for us, that we didn't really have things set up very well
for taking care of the release notes when they weren't doing most/all
the work. You never know how much someone else does until they get
too busy with other stuff... (thanks Murray and Davyd for all your
tons of work in past releases!)

Anyway, you, Vincent, Quim, and all the others working on the notes
for this release (sorry for any important names I left out!) are
heroes. You all did a ton of work in a very short period of time.
Many thanks. Hopefully we can make it a little more smooth and easier
for next time around. And hopefully I remember to double check _all_
the links & images in the release notes before I hit send on the
announcement email...

Thanks everyone for your awesome work on 2.16!

For the record, the release notes were really a sprint this year - I
volunteered to convert the wiki pages to docbook, and ended up
committing all the changes to CVS, setting up the build structure, and
touching up and uploading all the images to be included (I obviously
missed two). I didn't know the links to the release notes were going to
be sent out today with the official release notification.

In the future, we should set a specific timeline for the release notes
and a deadline for comments on a final draft, and a freeze for
translation right before the release.

Additionally, we may need help to put PO files on the documentation
status page, so that translators can easily access them.

Anyway, happy GNOME 2.16 release!

Not sure whether that's been reported before, but this page:
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.16/notes/C/rnfeatures.html
has broken images.

eg.:
The requested URL /start/2.16/notes/C/figures/rnfeatures-laptop.png was
not found on this server.

Cheers
