Stack Overflow is fine if we are just doing programming questions, but

There already are [gtk], [gnome], [user-interface], [user-experience]
tags

on stackoverflow that are adressing most of the programming and design
questions. We often see questions about theming among others.

If some of the aspects of the community interaction you want are not
covered by any
existing tag, then I suggest creating those tags on stackoverflow and
advertising
them as an entry point for newcommers. This will avoid fragmention, and
make the

GTK+/GNOME communities on stackoverflow stronger.

Cheers,

I'll just point at this:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/infrastruct...@lists.fedo
raproject.org/message/6IWBLCCLAKLEGQCOGL3KADCJK4OGARQV/

Fedora has been using AskBot for some time, and it's proving painful to
host.

The main developer seems to be willing to help though, including with
providing hosting.

So for now we are putting this on hold.

I tend to think that Stackoverflow perfectly matches that.

Is there some public place that offer something similar as AskFedora to create
a community for GNOME?
I think one requirement for us is to not host it ourselves, and still be
relevant.
I guess that's why Sri choose Stackexchange. But I don't know other
alternatives.

And it's already closed as a duplicate of Stack Overflow.

Looks like if you want to do this, we'd have to host it using free
software like Ask Fedora does.

while I definitely agree stackexchange could be an answer to the

me a bit.

GTK+ already has many questions and answers on stackoverflow. Don't you
think adding a new communication channel would add a bit of confusion on
where to ask questions? I think it would also hide GTK+ away to people
asking
more generic questions on UI toolkits, or for GTK+ on platforms other
than
Linux, when Qt and wxWidgets for example are on stackoverflow and don't
have

their own stackexchange.
