Why aren't you using bugzilla for this? Those of us who are not
interested in this flame wouldn't be bothered that way. Or at least
take it to the nautilus mailing list..

Do you seriously use that menu? Do you seriously think users will see
that there? if it was in the context menu, ok... but there, sorry but
no.

I rather see this as a bug was introduced in 3.0 and should be fixed in
3.0.2.

It's listed quite clearly in the Edit...Move To Trash menuitem.

Not sure if you noticed but there were a few other changes from GNOME
2.x to GNOME 3.0 =) Can we calm down? A decision was made for 3.0,
it makes sense to stick to it; there's an improvement planned for 3.2.

Why can't this be reverted for 3.0.x? I understand a proper solution
can't be made before 3.2, that's why I'm asking to revert the ctr-del
behavior for now.

I don't really care changing the accels for myself, I know it is
ctr-del. I'm just astonished that this change as been made in the last
minute in GNOME3 with apparently no consensus and no indication to
users. Users can only assume GNOME3 can't delete files, ctr-del is
impossible to discover without reading bugzilla.

So you change a 10 years old behavior, you wait 6months for people to
learn it the hard way, then will change it again? Don't you think users
could have waited 6 more months to have directly the proper solution?

Hey Xavier,

this is not going to be reverted in 3.0.x. Note that you can still
change this manually back to Del, as Nautilus still supports editable
accels (even though there's a bug [1], which I want to fix for 3.0.2, if
you do that).

We might reconsider this choice in 3.2, once Undo support has hopefully
landed, but in the meanwhile I find it really impolite you're screaming
out loud here, as you surely know there are more appropriate channels to
reach the Nautilus maintainers. Starting flames is not cool.

The bug is just being ignored. I think more visibility is needed to get
that wrong behaviour reverted.

ctr-del to delete a file

2011-05-19 Thread Xavier Claessens
Hello ddl,

Looks like it is time to start flames on ddl, so let's start a new one:

W-T-F is that ctr-del to move a file to trash in nautilus?? And
there is not even an indication why pressing del does nothing!

To add even more fun, it is not even consistent with evolution to delete
emails. So I got used to nautilus, and now I often tap ctr-del in
evolution and that does nothing.

PLEASE REVERT THIS ASAP!

Regards,
Xavier Claessens.
