[Desktop-packages] [Bug 605603] Re: brasero can't use cdrdao to burn cd

2011-11-10 Thread marco.pallotta
In a fully updated 10.04 (x86_64), installing both cdrdao and cue2toc
fix the issue (pop-up disappears and the burning works ok).

"Disc copy" gives and error that says cdrdao and toc2cue is not
installed. It should say cue2toc. After installing both packages
(which brasero doesn't depend on...) I still get the error about
  cdrdao.

This happens for making an image or copying to a blank disc.

I also submitted this to the gnome bug list as requested by Brasero

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 877256] Re: Cann't open ".war" format

This is clearly a bug and not a wish! It used to work and there is no
reason it shouldn't continue to do so. If it can open ear and jar it should
clearly open war as well.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888892] [NEW] glade-gtk2 launcher does not work

2011-11-10 Thread Gideon Klompje
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 11.10, using package glade-gtk2 3.8.0-0ubuntu3:

Clicking the Unity launcher icon does nothing. This appears to be
because it is trying to launch "glade", which does not exist (only
"glade-gtk2").

Editing /usr/share/applications/glade-3.desktop and changing "Exec=glade
%F" to "Exec=glade-gtk2 %F" fixes the problem.

I had the "glade" package installed prior to installing "glade-gtk2",
not sure if this cause it, but even after removing "glade" and
reinstalling "glade-gtk2" the problem persists.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888885] [NEW] gwibber-poster disappears when right clicked or when ctrl+V is pressed to paste text

2011-11-10 Thread John Martin

I expect that when opened from the messaging indicator menu that
gwibber-poster will allow a link or other text to be pasted into the
dialog in order to post it to the specified services.

Instead, gwibber-poster simply disappears. At the point when ctrl is
pressed or the mouse is right-clicked over the text-entry space, the
dialog closes. I ran it from the terminal as well and the same thing
occurs.

When running gwibber-poster in terminal it gives:

2011-11-10 Thread Timothy Arceri
Just fyi closed bugs reported in launchpad can now only be opened by
package maintainers and bug reporters which I think is a very poor
solution. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/887875

Bug description:
When you select multiple files in Nautilus and accidentally open them
(by wrong click, by Intro key...), Nautilus tries to open all of them
at once in multiple instances of the default application. This can
make your system totally unresponsive and force you to do a hard
restart if they are many (try with 2.000, for example) or they are
heavy (video, for example). Even if it doesn't come to that, it's
annoying to have to close then one by one.

In Windows if you try to open many files at once there is a warning
('You are trying to open multiple files', I think), giving you the
option to cancel or open them anyway. I think Nautilus should do the
same. After all, how often do you need to open 20 files at once?

To have an option to close all open instances of an app at once would
  be very usefull too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 879066] Re: 10bit video does not play

2011-11-10 Thread Christ Sherwin
this happens with absolutely any 10bit video, and a link to a sample is
here:

http://www.cccp-project.net/beta/test_files/H.264-10bit-sample-
railgun.mkv

tested in mplayer2 (works), and tested in totem (did not work).

  10bit video does not play

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 11.10 (amd64); gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg 0.10.12; libavcodec53 OR
libavcodec-extra-53 (both yield same results for 10bit).
I expect to be able to see 10bit video, since it is supported since libav 0.7
and ffmpeg.
instead, the following error comes up:

Could not find GStreamer caps mapping for FFmpeg codec 'h264', and you
are using an external libavcodec. This is most likely due to a
packaging problem and/or libavcodec having been upgraded to a version

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888847] Re: rhythmbox can't find ID3 tag muxer for MP3 support

2011-11-10 Thread Matt Hanyok
Funny enough, just after I reported this, I looked in the software
center and saw it mentioning the gstreamer "bad" plugins set as not
installed.

Installing it made the problem go away.

MP3 support is installed via the "ugly" plugins set, I thought...
shouldn't this ID3 tag muxer be installed with that, and not "bad"?

Alternately... why couldn't it figure out it just needed that set of
plugins?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 879525] Re: Rhythmbox CD ripping to FLAC broken in Oneiric

2011-11-10 Thread Matt Hanyok
The steps to duplicate the problem are:

1) Install Rhythmbox from the software center
2) Open Rhythmbox
3) Go to edit/preferences and select the "music" tab
4) Notice the drop down box for the preferred format appears to be missing FLAC
5) Select this empty space and try to rip a CD
6) Get error message about "no suitable encoding profiles" as stated in the
original report by Jens.

Here's an excerpt from my log. When selecting the blank spot on the drop
down menu, which should be FLAC, the log does state "can encode
audio/x-flac".

Directly above it however, when looking for the profile it says "trying
to check profile (null) for missing plugins" and "got request pad,
profile (null) works".

Compare this to selecting Ogg Vorbis, where it states "trying to check
profile oggvorbis for missing plugins" and "got request pad, profile
oggvorbis works".

It seems to me the issue is this missing profile... it shouldn't be
saying "profile (null)". So how do we get the proper profile installed?

Title:
Rhythmbox CD ripping to FLAC broken in Oneiric

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading my Ubuntu to Oneiric, I can't seem to rip CDs to FLAC
  any longer with rhythmbox.

  - The preferences don't list FLAC/Lossless any longer (there's an empty
entry, and if I select that, the example file name above changes to .flac - but
that's it).
  - When I try to rip a CD with the above setting to the empty entry, I get the
following error:
"This file cannot be transferred as it is not in a format supported by the
target device and no suitable encoding profiles are available."

The "target device" in question is still an SMB share, as it was under
Natty. I suspect there's rather some library missing, but everything
(flac, liblfac8, etc.) seems to be installed, and gst-inspect-0.10
seems to find flac-related stuff, too.

  Any ideas what's missing?

I installed 'rhino', with no effect.

For javascript to work in LibreOffice it appears I need the file
  ScriptProviderForJavaScript.jar

  Maverick had this file:

  /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.2/program/classes/ScriptProviderForJavaScript.jar

  in openoffice.org-java-common
  (http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/all/openoffice.org-java-
  common/filelist)

But the file is missing from 11.10:
  http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/all/libreoffice-java-
  common/filelist

By taking the files found in Arch Linux:

  http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libreoffice-extension-
  scripting-javascript/

  and putting them under /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/script-
provider-for-javascript on 11.10, I can solve the problem.

But clearly this should not be necessary.

The files should be (but do not appear to be) provided by some package
  in 11.10.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 879456] Re: Typeahead functionality for nautilus is broken

  Description: Ubuntu 11.10
  Release: 11.10

  nautilus:
    Installed: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1
    Candidate: 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1

However the person that was assigned to that bug told me to file a new one
because supposedly it is a different bug.
I installed the nautilus 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu1 package from ubuntu proposed and
all packages related and I still experience the following behavior:

  Expected behavior:

  - Open nautilus in ANY folder.
  - Start typing name of folder/file.
  - Nautilus selects folders/file matching as you type (one file at a time
matching what is in the search/typeahead box).
  - Type backspace
  - Deletes the last character typed in search/typeahead box

  Actual Behavior

  - Open nautilus in ANY folder.
  - Start typing the name of a folder/file.
  - Sometimes the search box opens and sometimes it does not. (BUG)
  - If it does open, after a letter or two the search box disappears. (BUG)
  - If you change folders sometimes the box reappears as you start typing other
times it disappears. (BUG)
  - If the box re-appears typing in Back-space does not delete the text present
in the box, instead it navigates backwards (Unexpected behavior)
  - If it disappears It does not re-appear until you close and re-open
nautilus. (BUG)

This happens in ALL views (Icon, List, Compact) with or without status
bar enabled (Some suggested that the status bar fixes this, it does
  not).

The newly released packages (nautilus* 3.2.1) DO NOT fix this bug.

I am on Ubuntu 11.10 64Bit Using Gnome 3.2 and Gnome Shell.
Upgraded to this ubuntu since 10.04

Hi Fred,

It actually is a good _idea_, just not a very realistic one. :-(

Even all the Mozilla based browsers aren't sharing their caches
despite the file format is the same. And it seems as if this wanted by
Mozilla for some reason.

You basically just asked at the wrong place: No Linux distribution has
the power to convince all the browser makers, especially Mozilla and
Google (who both care a shit about distributions IMHO), to do such a
thing. And it's the browser makers where this should start. Maybe the
W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) is a better place to dump/plant this
wish/idea.

Bug description:
When running nautilus and doing a file transfer that brings up the file
operations window, I noticed that the window doesn't appear in the Alt+Tab
grouping for nautilus, and does not appear in the gnome-shell Windows activity
or even in the thumbnail for the workspace that the window resides in. This
makes it very difficult to find when there are many windows in the current
workspace, which is usually the case in my workflow.

  test case:
  1. install the new version (1:3.2.1-0ubuntu4) from -proposed
  2. run gnome-shell
2.1 make a copy
-> you should see the copy dialog in the pager
  3. run unity
3.1 make a copy
3.2 close all your nautilus windows
3.3 click on the nautilus icon in the launcher -> it should enable you to
launch a new nautilus window

do some debugging and try to find out why, and maybe go back to

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888283] Re: Printing from LibreOffice is broken.

2011-11-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
LStranger, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Please
execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging
information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 888283
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Can you follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log" and
"Capturing print job data" in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems for a bad print job?
Thanks.

Bug description:
I've upgraded my local server from 9.10 to 11.10 and another workstation from
11.04 to 11.10 and unexpectedly printing from LibreOffice was broken. Printing
from other sources (i've tried Firefox and Leafpad) works fine.
I have printer HP LaserJet P1005 with foo2xqx driver, firmare was downloaded
by getweb means.
  How it can be reproduced:
  1) open LibreOffice Writer;
  2) choose font 'Times New Roman' or 'Ubuntu';
  3) enter the text below:
  Проверка
  Йцук
  енгш
  4) print it;
  5) printed text is:
  Проверка
  ЙцПк
  еППП
or something alike that. Wrong letters seems to come randomly in printed text.
If you choose such font as 'Nimbus Roman No9 L' then everything is printed
well enough. Unfortunately upgraded ubuntu 11.10 does not allow me to start
cupsd from 9.10 distro, it fails to start completely so only hope is to get it
fixed.

heavy (video, for example).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 429041] Re: should ask confirmation before opening a multiple items selection

2011-11-10 Thread Timothy Arceri
This is not fixed please reopen. As I commented upstream that last patch
was a regression.

Steps to reproduce:

Copy 6 .jpg images into a directory.
Also copy a .txt file our something that will be opened by a different
application.

Make Shotwell the default image viewer ( shotwell opens multiple
instances for each file selected ).

Select all 6 jpg files right click and open with shotwell. Six instances
of shotwell are opened NO warning.

Now this time select all the files. This time select the text file as well and
select open. You have a warning now but it says two applications will be
opened???
1. Why am I being warned if it really was only two applications being opened??
Surely 2 is not something to be warned about
2. Its really 7 instances being opened.

any virtual terminal via CTRL+ALT+F1 to go to VT1 and CTRL+ALT+F7 to get

  Hi all,

Is it just me that Gwibber Ubuntu Theme has "flickering status" on

I don't know how to explain, so an image is better than 1000 words,
  please see the gif attached.

You can see the "status div" increases height when mouse is passing over (and
icon appears).
I think it's because icon is 22x22, while the "time div" is little bit
smaller...

Yes, it's a big problem, the only way to open it is rename war file or
extract archive with jar. There's another problem, too: if war file is
contained into an ear archive there's no way to open or rename it...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 870297] Re: Lightdm logins not being logged in wtmp

2011-11-10 Thread Gerry
Is lightdm really using accountsservice? It's not listed as a
dependency nor even recommends. gdm behaves correctly and depends on
accountsservice.

I'm inclined to believe that it's behaving incorrectly with regards the
dbus interaction, but that's all way over my head. Let me know if you
want me to test anything.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888525] Re: LibreOffice Missing Files For JavaScript Macros to work in 11.10

2011-11-10 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
adam jvok, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Please
execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging
information, in a terminal:

Title:
LibreOffice Missing Files For JavaScript Macros to work in 11.10

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Running LibreOffice on 11.10. Tools/macros/Organize Macros -
  Javascript option is missing.

I installed 'rhino', with no effect.

For javascript to work in LibreOffice it appears I need the file
  ScriptProviderForJavaScript.jar

  Maverick had this file:

  /usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.2/program/classes/ScriptProviderForJavaScript.jar

  in openoffice.org-java-common
  (http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/all/openoffice.org-java-
  common/filelist)

But the file is missing from 11.10:
  http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/all/libreoffice-java-
  common/filelist

By taking the files found in Arch Linux:

  http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/libreoffice-extension-
  scripting-javascript/

  and putting them under /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extensions/script-
provider-for-javascript on 11.10, I can solve the problem.

But clearly this should not be necessary.

The files should be (but do not appear to be) provided by some package
  in 11.10.

I compiled it all and made sure that code was there and installed it and
it still doesn't show up. Then I got the source from git and tried it
again. No love. I guess I'll try gdm and see if it does it too.

  Hi all,

Is it just me that Gwibber Ubuntu Theme has "flickering status" on
  rollover ?

I don't know how to explain, so an image is better than 1000 words,
  please see the gif attached.

You can see the "status div" increases height when mouse is passing over (and
icon appears).
I think it's because icon is 22x22, while the "time div" is little bit
smaller...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 870297] Re: Lightdm logins not being logged in wtmp

2011-11-10 Thread Gerry
The idea might be good, but a preliminary glance makes me wonder whether
installing that library is sufficient.

  % dpkg-query -S /usr/lib/libaccountsservice.so.0.0.0
  libaccountsservice0: /usr/lib/libaccountsservice.so.0.0.0

  %ldd /usr/lib/accountsservice/accounts-daemon | grep libaccount

returns nothing. Do I have to recompile accounts-daemon? Maybe; I'll
look into it.

Status in “indicator-session” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I need to disable guest logins for lightdm, and did so by adding the
  line "allow-guest=false" to /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.

However, this also has the side-effect of disabling the user-switcher
in the indicator area of Unity after I log in, which is bad. I want
the user-switcher, I just don't want guest accounts enabled.

This is true for Oneiric, and presumable for Precise as well.
