[Desktop-packages] [Bug 890541] Re: i don't know
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 779366] Re: Font "Nimbus Sans L" squashed in Impress slideshow
I have a related problem with Nimbus Sans L after switching to Oneiric. This font appears in condensed mode both in the edit and slideshow modes (in this bug report, this problem is reported only in slideshow mode). If you face this too, here is a workaround that I applied to make the edit mode work again... 1/ Look for the font files for "Nimbus Sans L Condensed" grep "Nimbus Sans" /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/*.afm | grep Condensed/usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/n019043l.afm:FullName Nimbus Sans L Regular Condensed /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/n019044l.afm:FullName Nimbus Sans L Bold Condensed /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/n019063l.afm:FullName Nimbus Sans L Regular Condensed Italic /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/n019064l.afm:FullName Nimbus Sans L Bold Condensed Italic 2/ Remove the corresponding files: rm /usr/share/fonts/type1/gsfonts/n0190{43,44,63,64}l.* Again, this just fixes edit mode, not slideshow mode, which is still broken (probably becahse of the LibreOffice bug reported here) In my case, this is sufficient, because I export my documents to PDF, and I don't observe any problem viewing the PDF files then. To revert your changes: sudo apt-get install --reinstall gsfonts Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to let me know if you wish me to file a separate bug. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 879528] Re: Displays utility doesn't offer to use nvidia-settings with proprietary drivers installed?
The fglrx proprietary driver supports XRandR 1.2, so the Displays capplet will (should) work for it. This is required, for instance, to be able to properly detect screens and enable the VGA, DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs which are completely ignored by g-c-c's Displays applet. However on 11.10, Displays doesn't have this behavior, so the user is left to figure out why DIsplays is so limited and unable to detect/enable external screens, and eventually to learn to use nvidia- settings from a command prompt. However, when I now open this file, all dates are about four years off or so, though the date in content.xml is still correct. I can reproduce this with the following test.ods: Whenever I create a ods file with just one date field containing a valid date, the content.xml contains 01.02.11 The file I created some time ago is lacking table:calculation-settings tag. 01.02.11 Though the code still contains 2011-02-01, soffice displays 31.01.07 (meaning 31 Jan 2007). The error observed with the old file can be reproduced by removing the tag from the test.ods and the old file can be fixed by adding this tag to the file. I don't know if the tag is required by the standard but as the old ods file was only written by different versions of openoffice, i would expect openoffice to handle this. Further, it is not obvious to me why someone would want a stored 2011 to mean 2007. The "Alt" key-press event is still captured by the Unity global menu. To reproduce this issue: 1. Open a new gnome-terminal running Bash or Emacs. 2. Right-mouse-click the terminal window and un-check the menu option "Show Menubar" 3. Type a few words separated by spaces. 4. Press Ctrl-A to position the cursor at the beginning of the line. 5. Press Alt-F to move the cursor forward one word -- THIS FAILS. Instead the File menu pops-up. Work-around: You must instead press "Esc" and then "F" to generate the Escape-F ASCII code. This makes using the terminal very difficult. There's enough information already, thanks. It just needs to be moved over to the right package "network-manager (Ubuntu)"; which I've done. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 658004] Re: brasero claims dvd image is too large for disc
Why is this marked with importance "Low"? Certain data sets can not be written at all due to this bug. >From https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance : Low: Bugs which affect functionality, but to a lesser extent than most bugs, examples are: Bugs that have easy work-arounds Bugs that affect unusual end-user configurations or uncommon hardware Bugs that affect a non-essential aspect and limited scope of the application Bugs that have a moderate impact on a non-core application Cosmetic/usability issues that does not limit the functionality of a non-core application Non-ideal default configurations None of this applies. Besides, the fix is trivial. What should be done to have it committed as soon as possible? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658004 Title: brasero claims dvd image is too large for disc Status in A disc burning application for gnome 2: Unknown Status in “brasero” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: brasero ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso live env. GNOME 2.32 brasero 2.32.0-0ubuntu2 nautilus 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1 Brasero claims an iso file is too large for the disc. The inserted disc is a blanked DVD+RW. The file is 4,700,372,992 bytes big, which is the official capacity of DVD+RW discs (as per wikipedia and other sources). What I did: - insert a DVD+RW with content - cp /dev/sr0 dvd.iso - check dvd.iso size to be 4,700,372,992 bytes - right click dvd.iso and select Write to Disc... Result: The brasero/nautilus dialog claims: The data size is too large for the disc even with the overburn option.
