[Desktop-packages] [Bug 833701] Re: math objects inherit automatic font color
There should be a possibility to define styles for formulas in the same way than you can define text styles or paragraph styles. This is a long standing bug/wishlist. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 29894] Re: can't take screenshot when menu on panel is opened
When I press the Print Screen key in Chrome web browser, I cannot take a screen shot if a menu is open. It is not just menu's. I am developing a chrome extension that opens a HTML window, there are no key bindings for this but a screenshot cannot to be taken unless that overlay is closed. I don't see why the PRINT SCREEN key is important for accelerators, it's not a key that usually has any other function other than printing the screen, indeed that is the primary function which is being blocked. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/29894 Title: can't take screenshot when menu on panel is opened Status in gnome-utils - GNOME Desktop Utilities: In Progress Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “gnome-utils” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I can always press the Print screen key to take a screenshot of my desktop. The preferences window should allow the user to select the panes he wants to be visible. The options would be: Artist, Album, and Genre. Yes, I know we can use the genre: tag in the search field, but this option is in other players (Rhythmbox, iTunes and Songbird come to mind) and is very useful for creating on-the-fly playlist (when a user wants to hear to all the songs in a particular genre). Also, artist and album are not enough when the music library goes beyond a few hundreds of songs, and I'm pretty sure that several users fall in this category. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=538005 This bug has already been treated there, and even a patch has been developed, then there is no reason why this is not implemented already. Included is a (not so good) mockup of what I'm talking about. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 863834] Re: [regression] Suspend on lid close broken on Oneiric
Hi all, Same problem here with a pavilion dm4 1162sf. acpi_listen give me this : button/lid LID0 0080 0005 - lid close event button/lid LID0 0080 0006 - lid open event button/lid LID0 0080 0007 - lid close event button/lid LID0 0080 0008 - lid open event This is incremental, starting by 0001 on the first close event... the /proc/acpi/button/lid/*/state stays always open so the script will never catch it as it is today (on other systems like arch linux with 3.1.4-1-ARCH kernel) , the acpi events where clearer with button/lid LID open and button/lid LID close. I think all is due to this strange information given in acpi events... [Desktop-packages] [Bug 902780] [NEW] gnome-control-center Keyboard Layout and User Accounts modules crash under IceWM
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10 patched to the minute with oneiric-proposed Specifically, gnome-control-center 1:3.2.2-0ubuntu1; icewm 1.3.7-1 Cause: IceWM does not set environment variable $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP; gnome-control-center relies on this variable to be set. Crash happens because it tries to dereference a null pointer returned by getenv(). The bug (actually two bugs) is introduced by the Ubuntu patches 10_keyboard_layout_on_unity.patch and 53_use_ubuntu_help.patch. TO REPRODUCE under any window manager: $ env -u XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP gnome-control-center [ click on Keyboard Layout ] [ OR click on Keyboard, then Layout Settings ] [ OR click on User Accounts ] Patch attached. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 868400] Re: Synaptics touchpad stops working
I think Sven is right in his assumption that the touchpad freeze is caused by two syndaemon instances getting out of sync. On my system I find consistent correlation between touchpad freezing and two syndaemon instances running. What puzzles me is why I don't always have two syndaemon instances running. I have found that if I cold boot and log in as UserA or UserB I most of the time have only one syndaemon instance and have no problem. If I log out from UserA and then log in as UserB I still (most of the time) have only one syndaemon instance. If I then log out UserB and log in as UserA again, I always have two syndaemon instances and I consistently get a touchpad freeze if my first keyboard activity in the new session is ctrl-alt-T followed by arrow up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868400 Title: Synaptics touchpad stops working Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Oneiric: Incomplete Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” source package in Oneiric: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Precise: Incomplete Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” source package in Precise: Confirmed Bug description: Synaptic touchpad stops working, seen on a few different Thinkpads. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 872701] Re: Keyboard layout doesn't change
I'm also running into this regression on a fresh installation of Ubuntu 11.10. I use two keyboard layouts, dvorak and us. * In the screensaver unlock dialog, switching the keyboard layout correctly updates the layout indicator (using both mouse clicks and the group toggle shortcut), but the switch doesn't actually take effect: the password input is processed according to the primary layout. * As an experiment, i tried switching to the secondary layout before activating the screensaver, to see if it changes the behavior, but it doesn't seem to: the dialog still locks into the primary layout, rather than the secondary. ** Also affects: gnome-screensaver via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662992 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872701 Title: Keyboard layout doesn't change Status in GNOME Screensaver: Unknown Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: With two keyboard layouts (layout1 and layout2, where layout1 is the default for the session) 1) lock the screen with CTRL-ALT-l 2) touch mouse to bring up screensaver dialog 3) switch keyboard layout to layout2 (and note keyboard indicator indicates layout change) 4) enter password *as if layout1 was active* [1] 5) screen is unlocked 6) switch back to layout1 Repeat, but this time skip step 3 - screen is still unlocked. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 757976] Re: Thunderbird attachment name changes cause send error
I think this has not been upstreamed yet, is there any reason for that? I just commented on the upstream bug with a link to the patch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus-sendto in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/757976 Title: Thunderbird attachment name changes cause send error Status in nautilus-sendto: New Status in “nautilus-sendto” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “nautilus-sendto” source package in Oneiric: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: nautilus-sendto I've got Thunderbird set up as my default MUA in Gnome. (System - Preferences - Preferred applications.) When I right-click on a file in Nautilus - Send To..., the attachment name shows up in an e-mail composition window. However, the name of the attachment is messed up. If I'm attaching a file called Personal Learning Plan - 2010-2011.pdf, it gets renamed to Personal%20Learning%20Plan%20-%202010-2011.pdf with some sort of URL encoding. When clicking send, this results in the following error: Sending of message failed. Unable to open the temporary file /path/to/file/Learning%20plans/Personal%20Learning%20Plan%20-%202010-2011.pdf. Check your 'Temporary Directory' setting. However, there's nothing wrong with this directory setting, as it works fine without using Send To. The workaround: 1) Right click on the attachment - Remove Attachment. 2) Click on Attach, and then select the file from the file browser. 3) The file name will now be correct, without the URL encoding. 4) The message can now be sent. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 413728] Re: alacarte does not remove main menu item
I confirmed the 4 lines mentioned above are related to the problem of hiding items in the games menu. I was able to workaround the issue by removing the 4 lines in question from the mentioned file: sudo cp /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu.bak sudo sensible-editor /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu That caused lots of sub-menus to Games to appear, but at least hiding games started working.
