Frequency varies, but I'd say on average it freezes about once per

happens whether or not I'm interacting with banshee or not. It also
happens whether or not any music is playing. RAM and CPU usage are
normal, so I'm pretty sure it's not freezing up for lack of resources.
It seems like sometimes the music keeps playing and sometimes it
doesn't. I suspect (although I haven't confirmed this) that it keeps

IMAP account (Courier) no longer working after upgrade

Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
After upgrading to Oneiric one of my IMAP accounts is not working.

I have attached two gdb outputs, one configured as IMAP, the other as
IMAP+ as noted by the filename. In Natty/2.32 this account works fine
  with either IMAP or IMAP+.

The failing account is connecting to a Courier-IMAP server running on
Debian Squeeze. The account continues to work fine on Natty/2.32 with
  the un-upgraded configuration.

For the gdb output attached, I have disabled/unchecked all other
email/online accounts . In both cases I waited for an error message
and then killed the session from gdb.

When set to IMAP (gdb_evolution_110915_imap.txt) the error message on screen
stated:
Error while performing operation. You must be working online to complete this
operation

When set to IMAP+ (gdb_evolution_110915_imapplus.txt) the error message
stated:
Failed to open folder. The reported error was "Could not connect to
mail2.ianbmacdonald.com: Input/output error"

Creating a completely new account seems to work fine. So I'll just
purge the old one and migrate filters, etc.

Bug description:
I followed the instructions for setting up my gmail pop account, but
it sends me 2 copies of incoming mail. The first time it downloaded

  received one copy.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 665548] Re: changing workspaces is very slow in case of big terminal windows

Title:
changing workspaces is very slow in case of big terminal windows

Status in “vte” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
First, sorry if this bug is not vte related, maybe it's more gtk than
vte? I can only reproduce this problem with gnome-terminal and
xfce4-terminal but not with xterm for example. The common thing
between xfce4-terminal and gnome-terminal is using libvte as well,
that's the reason I try to bugreport here. If I was wrong, please move
my report to the right place, thanks!

The bug now: I'm using multiple workspaces ("desktops") under
gnome/metacity with Ubuntu maverick 32bit OS. I have this problem on
two machines, but it's hard to tell when, it seems if the problem
begins it remains, but I don't know what can cause the beginning of
the problem. If I change workspaces, and I switch onto a workspace
which have a "large enough" terminal window (not a standard 80x24 but
a larger, like 130x90 or even full screen) the change is _very_ slow,
sometimes my X session is frozen for 4-5 seconds! Within that time I
see the old workspace (but as frozen, though I can move the mouse
cursor) before the new appears. It seems I can have even dozens of
terminal windows without a problem, if none of them is "large enough"
  window to trigger the problem.

This is a very annoying problem for me, because I'm using terminals
and multiple workspaces quite heavily, but that delay is awful
especially if I only want a quick look at a terminal then I would
switch back to another one on another workspace. As I've already told,
it seems xterm is not affected only gtk/vte based terminals. I am not
using compiz at all (though I've activated the internal compositing
support of metacity wia gconf). The problem exists even with "semi
transparent" and non-transparent (static black) background configured
  for gnome-terminal.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 734428] Re: [Upstream] Wrong automatic text color "dark grey" with black background

2011-12-23 Thread Scott Severance
The proper solution here is to decouple the default text colors from the
GTK theme. As pointed out earlier, an LibO document should look the same
on any computer, provided the requisite fonts are installed.

Since this bug is getting ignored upstream, and since it's particularly
apparent on Ubuntu due to the Ambiance theme, can we go ahead and fix it
here? Upstream users who aren't on Ubuntu likely don't even notice this
bug.

PS: I've given a more detailed explanation here:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35365#c15

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 908326] [NEW] Pair kerning fails in Impress slide show

2011-12-23 Thread Neil Woolford
Public bug reported:

Using LibreOffice Impress 3.4.4 under Ubuntu 11.10

When I design a slide in Impress the pair kerning appears correct. I
would expect the kerning to remain correct when the presentation is
shown.

What actually happens is that the kerning settings are not applied,
leading to very ugly typography.

I've not noticed this problem in the past, so I think it may be a
regression.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 908326] Re: Pair kerning fails in Impress slide show

2011-12-23 Thread Neil Woolford
Now how it appears in slide show mode.

Notice the amount of extra and uneven white space between letters,
especially noticeable between the W and e of Webb and also the R and A
of PRA, but not right elsewhere either.

By the way, PDF export, subject of a similar bug in the past, works fine
for this slide.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 857041]

2011-12-23 Thread Thomas Thym
I just tested 3.5 beta 1.
LOdev 3.5.0, Build-ID: 7362ca8-b5a8e65-af86909-d471f98-61464c4

The non-printing characters still vanish after pdf export or print.
After pdf export the reappear after restart of LO or after pressing the
button. However, after print the bug is still there.

Go, go, go LOdevs. It would be awesome if that bug would not see 2012.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 857041]

2011-12-23 Thread Björn Michaelsen
Since all new unconfirmed bugs start in state UNCONFIRMED now and old
unconfirmed bugs were moved to NEEDINFO with a explanatory comment, all
bugs promoted above those bug states to NEW and later are automatically
confirmed making the CONFIRMED whiteboard status redundant. Thus it will
be removed.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 908333] [NEW] Add a "Rename file" link to Eye of Gnome

Public bug reported:

I often use Eye of Gnome to look through images of my digital camera
