[Desktop-packages] [Bug 918016] Re: Request to update to new upstream version 2.35.0
2.35.1 has been already released, but as it introduced an ABI break which has been reverted after 2.35.1 and will be available in the next release to be ABI-compatible, I have decided to update to 2.35.0. See the attached debdiff, I have made the following changes: * Updated debian/patches/10_rsvg-gz.patch to apply. * Removed debian/patches/g_const_return.patch, merged upstream. [3] * Removed debian/patches/no_null_crash.patch, merged upstream. [4] * debian/watch: Switch to .xz tarballs. * debian/librsvg2-2.symbols: added new symbol introfuced in 2.35.0 [2] * debian/control.in: removed unnecessary dependencies (these have been removed upstream too , see [1]) [1] upstream commit removing the upstream dependencies http://git.gnome.org/browse/librsvg/commit/configure.in?id=5b2dd097e95146137351299c7c80e7279f0514cf [2] upstream commit introducing new symbol http://git.gnome.org/browse/librsvg/commit/?id=7f27418cfcdea9cdd6b2bf81ea0b0f6cc5a18b30 [3] upstream commit with the changes from g_const_return.patch http://git.gnome.org/browse/librsvg/commit/?id=01c1c36070184d67f4e0b925acf82a0c0a509558 [4] upstream commit with the changes from no_null_crash.patch http://git.gnome.org/browse/librsvg/commit/rsvg-paint-server.c?id=edbb480e5214f19e46d5aba89727202febae8857 ** Patch added: "Debdiff for packaging update to 2.35.0" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/librsvg/+bug/918016/+attachment/2680175/+files/update_2.35.debdiff ** Changed in: librsvg (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Robert Roth (evfool) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to librsvg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918016 Title: Request to update to new upstream version 2.35.0 Status in “librsvg” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: librsvg>=2.35.0 is required for GNOME System Monitor 3.34, and the new version also contains two ubuntu patches, so we can drop these patches. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 915935] Re: soffice.bin error 4 in libX11.so.6.3.0
ray, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/915935 Title: soffice.bin error 4 in libX11.so.6.3.0 Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: ubuntu 11.10 fresh install shows this in dmesg after starting libreoffice [ 211.883820] soffice.bin[2028]: segfault at a20 ip 7f4055cae433 sp 776c90f0 error 4 in libX11.so.6.3.0[7f4055c18000+133000] [ 213.279853] soffice.bin[2026]: segfault at a20 ip 7fe4254d4433 sp 7fff72be2660 error 4 in libX11.so.6.3.0[7fe42543e000+133000] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/915935/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 917533] Re: cannot open links from Thunderbird in Firefox 9.0.1
I found the problem, and it is with Firefox 9. The meaning of the "-no-remote" option has changed from "Open in a new instance" to "Open in a new instance AND DO NOT ACCEPT REMOTE CONNECTIONS." This means that if you want URL links to work in Thunderbird and to use multiple Firefox profiles at the same time, the first Firefox instance must to be running without "-no-remote". The rest can be run with "-no-remote". Or use Google-Chrome for URL links in Thunderbird. See the following Mozilla bug. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=650078 I think we can close this Ubuntu bug, but leave it to document the upstream problem. ** Bug watch added: Mozilla Bugzilla #650078 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=650078 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/917533 Title: cannot open links from Thunderbird in Firefox 9.0.1 Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: From https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webdeveloper/+bug/904594/comments/10: I'm having trouble opening links from Thunderbird in Firefox 9.0.1, and discovered that the problem is with Firefox. Consider the following command: firefox http://www.ubuntu.com If Firefox is already running, this should open the web site in a new tab or window. With 9.0.1, it opens the ProfileManager (I have multiple profiles). If I force a particular profile (with "-P default"), it tells me that "Firefox is already running." I did an ssh into another machine, and started firefox-3.6.24 with "-no-remote". Now I have two Firefox sessions running, v9.0.1 on my workstation and v3.6.24 on a remote machine. Then, when I run "firefox http://www.ubuntu.com"; in an xterm on my workstation. Lo and behold, www.ubuntu.com is opened on the remote Firefox v3.6.24, NOT on the local Firefox v9.0.1, which was actually started first. Any ideas how to fix this? After doing the above once, there's also a definition for the non- functioning connection in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/, and all subsequent tries to start nm-applet immediately end in the error and the applet vanishing. If I delete the definition it has created for this non-functioning connection, the applet does appear again, but again when I try to connect to this network, it dies and won't come back until I rm the definition file.
