[Desktop-packages] [Bug 878836] Re: Unity Greeter - Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions
Was just about to upload the gnome-screensaver fix and then I realised it doesn't work in this case: When you switch users (e.g. to guest) indicator-session locks the screen then does the switch. With this change this causes lightdm to both start a greeter and a new session. I think the correct fix is for indicator-session to not attempt the lock when running under lightdm and get the lightdm daemon to always lock sessions when switching away from them. ** Also affects: indicator-session Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878836 Title: Unity Greeter - Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions Status in Ayatana Design: Triaged Status in The Session Menu: New Status in Light Display Manager: In Progress Status in Unity Greeter: Triaged Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions. There were two custom launcher icons in the top panel before the upgrade which the user used as shortcuts for some common tasks. After upgrading (and reinstalling the classic gnome packages that the upgrade removed), there were no launcher icons at all in the panel anymore. I had to look up where the .desktop files used to be stored (.gnome2/panel2.d/default/launchers/), move them to ~/Desktop, and then drag them from the desktop to the top panel. Ironically, Unity handled the situation better; it found the original .desktop files and presented them as pinned applications in the launcher. (But this user does not use Unity.) [Desktop-packages] [Bug 846378] Re: Missing Firefox, Trash and Show Desktop icon
I think I'll add the Show Desktop button by default since it's rather useful (of course, it does the same as Ctrl+Alt+D). I don't think the Trash icon is useful for most people by default. Adding a Help button isn't very useful since Help would either describe Unity or GNOME Shell which are dramatically different than GNOME panel. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 929948] [NEW] Network manager should have a "priority" option for wireless network
Public bug reported: When several wireless networks are available, NetworkManager connects to one of the strongest SSID and there is no way (taht I know) to prioritize them. Example: in Spain we have a SSID wireless network that encompass most universities, "eduroam". I have that network defined and it connects ok. But when I am in MY university, which has an eduroam SSID available, I want to connect to the local "comillas" network, even if eduroam is stronger in signal because the firewalls are configured differently and, for example, I can print only when connected to it. NetworkManager now will connect to the strongest or, if they are (they typically are) at the same strenght, to one of them randomly. NetworkManager should have a way to mark "preferred" networks, to use even if there are other and stronger networks in sight. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions
Just applied the aapo patch in Linux Mint 12 / Wacom Graphire 3, and it seems to work. Thanks! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863154 Title: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions Status in The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP): Unknown Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: The tablet in overall seems to work correctly, with all pressure- features working. But quite frequently, while drawing, GIMP seems to wrongly read the coordinates of the stylus (as zeros, or negative values?), resulting in frequent, random 'line-peaks' in the direction of the left and upper image edges. With this bug it is hard to even use the tablet, since these problems are very frequent (see the exemplary image attached). The tablet works with no problems in MyPaint. The bug is reproducible in both Unity-2d and Unity-3d. I also notice the CPU usage increasing dramatically during drawing with any brush. Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect the Wacom Bamboo One tablet 2. Open GIMP 3. Start drawing longer strokes with any brush Expected result: The brush stroke as intended by moving the stylus Actual result: The brush stroke as intended with frequent, random line-strokes towards image edges System: Ubuntu 11.10 oneiric (development branch) GIMP version: 2.6.11 (package version: 2.6.11-2ubuntu3) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gimp/+bug/863154/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

When I have a table with say 40 rows and apply a filter the filter may show 5 rows with the filtered content. If I switch the filter back to ALL I would expect to see all 40 ros back. But what happens is that there are a number of rows hidden. Only after selecting all rows and clicking on "show all" the rows reappear. For me this looks like a serious bug but before posting it I want to check back with somebody. It impact right now considerable becasue Libreoffice needs quite some time to makr and show all rows. Removing the filter via menu /data/filter/remove filter and reapply it solves the problem for a single user. But when the document is used by different users (exclusively not simultaneously) the filter works only in the way mentioned above. After choosing "show all" certain rows are still hidden. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 927742] Re: banshee moves to next song then stops playback
Attached a debug output of the last three or four songs. The last song ("Outro") never started playing. Actual: Sometimes (and not all the time), when banshee moves to the next song (in Random and Random-Off) the song will not play. The Icon in the toolbar is in "Play" mode and a "Play" Icon shows up in the list next to the song, but the seconds do not move, and no sounds play. After a random amount of time, it *sometimes* just starts playing the song at about the place it would if it hadn't frozen, other times I have to manually double-click the current song to get it to start, or start the next song. Pressing the Play/Pause button does nothing, but double clicking the song will play it. Because these songs *will* play I don't think it is corrupt songs, especially considering the same library worked fine with bashsee in 11.10. There is no output on the terminal (w/ no switches) when this happens. My library is mostly mp3, but a smattering of FLAC, ogg, and whatever apple sells mixed in. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 928942] Re: array formula crashes calc
frankster, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-dbg uno-libs3-dbg ure-dbg && sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/928942 Title: array formula crashes calc Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: A spreadsheet at work opened fine in libreoffice-calc until array formulas were added, since when calc crashes when attempting to open it.
