[Desktop-packages] [Bug 946057] Re: Nautilus crashes When dismouting my mobile phone
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946057 Title: Nautilus crashes When dismouting my mobile phone Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1- Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 2- Installé : 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu4.1 Candidat : 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu4.1 Table de version : *** 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu4.1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.2.0-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages 3- I wanted to dismount my phone 4- Nautilus crashed ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.2.1-0ubuntu4.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-16.28-generic 3.0.17 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-16-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Mar 4 10:46:41 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=fr:en PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-22 (134 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/946057/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 945878] Re: Nautilus restart fails
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 946093] [NEW] DNSSEC passthrough support in dnsmasq
Public bug reported: I just noticed that Network Manager isn't using --proxy-dnssec for the local resolver. Using this option is important for environments where the client (firefox or similar) is actively checking for the DNSSEC flags. >From dnsmasq's man page: --proxy-dnssec A resolver on a client machine can do DNSSEC validation in two ways: it can perform the cryptograhic operations on the reply it receives, or it can rely on the upstream recursive nameserver to do the validation and set a bit in the reply if it succeeds. Dnsmasq is not a DNSSEC valida‐ tor, so it cannot perform the validation role of the recursive name‐ server, but it can pass through the validation results from its own upstream nameservers. This option enables this behaviour. You should only do this if you trust all the configured upstream nameservers and the network between you and them. If you use the first DNSSEC mode, validating resolvers in clients, this option is not required. Dnsmasq always returns all the data needed for a client to do validation itself. As our dnsmasq should be as transparent as possible to the user, I believe doing dnssec passthrough is the right thing and will be important for some of our users. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946093 Title: DNSSEC passthrough support in dnsmasq Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I just noticed that Network Manager isn't using --proxy-dnssec for the local resolver. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 946077] [NEW] LibreOffice close/min/max buttons missing
Public bug reported: When you launch Calc, it takes up full screen (on standard account) and auto-hides the Unity launcher. Calc takes up the entire desktop (on administrator account). In both cases the close, minimize, maximize buttons of the upper left are missing. The only way to close the app is /File/Exit. Writer does not open as maximized or full screen and has the 3 buttons close/min/max. However, if you click on maximize, you lose the 3 buttons and must /File/Exit to close the app. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: libreoffice (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-17.27-generic-pae 3.2.6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-17-generic-pae i686 ApportVersion: 1.94-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Mar 3 23:28:53 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta i386 (20120228.1) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: libreoffice UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946077 Title: LibreOffice close/min/max buttons missing Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When you launch Calc, it takes up full screen (on standard account) and auto-hides the Unity launcher. The zoom option only works with GNOME Shell (& Mutter); it doesn't do anything in Unity, Unity 2D, or GNOME Classic (with or without effects). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945813 Title: magnification settings do not work on Ubuntu Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: gnome-control-center universal access panel has a switch for a screen magnifier and a further dialog with a heap of settings presumably for gnome-mag which is not installed in Ubuntu by default. Having installed the gnome-mag package these settings still do nothing. The settings should be hidden altogether unless they can be demonstrated to work. Ideally this should be the place to set up keyboard and mouse bindings for the compiz enhanced zoom plugin. I like to use super+mouse button 4 to zoom in and super+button 5 to zoom out, these are the mousewheel buttons. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 944340] Re: Cannot change First day of the week in calendar in 12.04
This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. Thanks in advance! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/944340 Title: Cannot change First day of the week in calendar in 12.04 Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This is present in Ubuntu 12.04, but from what I've heard, it's way older. I know that this relates to the locale conception, but what if I want English language AND Monday as the first day of the week ? Right now, if I want English, I have to use en_US locale, but this also triggers Sunday to be set as First day of the week. Why can't I have both ? Can't you make a simple option in the Time & Date settings panel for the First day of the week ? It can't be that hard... The fix I used: 1. Open a terminal and type in "gksudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US" 2. Find the line starting with "first_weekday". The value for Monday in en_US is 2 (Sunday is 1) 3. Change to "first_weekday 2" (default was 1) 4. Type in terminal "sudo locale-gen" 5. Upon digging a little further, xfce4-terminal correctly sets the TERM variable in the environment vector that it then passes through to vte via vte_terminal_command_full (this takes place within the terminal_screen_launch_child function found in terminal/terminal- screen.c). However, vte_terminal_fork_command_full copies everything from that vector _except_ the TERM variable, unconditionally replacing that with a value that should be set by calling vte_pty_set_term (this happens in src/pty.c:__vte_pty_merge_environ(), which is called by (and gets the TERM value from) src/pty.c:__vte_pty_spawn, which in turn is called by src/vte.c:vte_terminal_fork_command_full() ). xfce4-terminal doesn't appear to ever call that function anywhere, and thus vte defaults to "xterm". So the appropriate fix would seem to be to make xfce4-terminal call that function to register the correct TERM value. Hi, this issue is on last version on precise beta! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to eog in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272584 Title: No colour conversion when image does not have embedded ICC profile Status in Eye of GNOME: Confirmed Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Ubuntu Hardy amd64, eog 2.22.3-0ubuntu2 Eye of Gnome correctly displays colours of images, which have embedded ICC profile. Other images are displayed without any colour conversion to the colour space of the monitor (as defined by tools like xcalib, xicc). Correct behaviour would be to assign sRGB profile to images without embedded profile. (sRGB colour space is de facto standard for PCs and images on the internet. Mozilla Firefox 3.x does so, too.) [Desktop-packages] [Bug 926889] Re: Ubuntu gtk leaks references in GtkTreeView / GtTreeModelSort which cause segfault in bluefish
The commit message certainly leaves a lot to be desired. On the one hand, the commit is definitely fixing a bug in the reference tracking of the info struct, and it avoids storing pointers to the stack which are almost immediately invalidated. On the other hand, while I would expect either of those bugs to cause crashes, I don't see how either of those bugs could affect whether or not there's an extra reference to the GtkTreeModelSort - causing the crash that Olivier describes - but that may just be because of my weak understanding of the whole GtkTree* set of classes. I'm personally not willing to sponsor this into the archive proper without a better sense of whether or not it will fix the bug at hand. Olivier: Do you have a concise set of instructions on how to reproduce the bug using Bluefish? For the time being, I'm going to upload the patch to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/ubuntu-tests). Local on-disk archives are used a lot in OEM on customer's first boot. We are currently carrying patches to Jockey for a number of OEM projects to get around this. I have found 3 issues in the code related to this: 1. The code in OSLib::has_repositories assumes URIs - "://" from apt- cache policy. If the archive is file based it will be "file:/foo/bar/..." and so will not satisfy the test. 2. There is also a similar problem in the detection.py code - DriverDB::_cache_id(self), which also assumes a "://". When I altered it to this (along with fixing the above) jockey worked as I would hope: m = re.match(".*::/{1,2}(.*)") if m: u = m.group(1) But I'm not sure if that's sufficiently tight? Perhaps ".*(file:/|://)(.*)", and then group(2)? 3. The on-disk binary drivers will be unsigned, so will fail. I would think an appropriate solution would be to allow the signature checking to be turned off with a command line option. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 945837] Re: Precise beta 1 is using en_us layout instead of chosen and installed hu_hu layout
Workaround: 1. Add another keyboard layout. 2. Remove original layout (Hungarian in my case). 3. Re-add your original layout. 4. Remove temporary layout. I just did another install to confirm the issue - it seems the install script is not setting up the keyboard layout correctly (the strange thing is that under settings it is showing the selected layout however in all apps I'm getting en_us). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945837 Title: Precise beta 1 is using en_us layout instead of chosen and installed hu_hu layout Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I just installed the Beta 1 and during setup I chose en_us locale with Hungarian keyboard layout. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 943153] Re: x-www-browser not the same as gnome-www-browser
Applications that depend on the alternatives x-www-browser and gnome- www-browser are fundamentally broken. You should report bugs against applications that are using those instead, then we could get rid of them entirely ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943153 Title: x-www-browser not the same as gnome-www-browser Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I just discovered that x-www-browser is different to gnome-www-browser. This can cause some weird behaviour. Use case: Install firefox and opera on your system. Opera sets itself as default x-www-browser wheras firefox sets itself as default gnome-www-browser. Now, some apps use gnome-www-browser, while others rely on x-www-browser. For example: clicking a link in thunderbird opens firefox, while dropbox opens opera. For the not-so-power users, there is no graphical way to set x-www-browser. (At least, i havent found one) So the question is: Is it really necessary to have these two seperate confi-options still in 2012? Wouldnt it make sense to have these two config-options linked to one another? Or are there still so many use cases that justify a distiction between gnome-www-browser and x-www-browser? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 913927] Re: Jockey will fail against local disk archive
** Changed in: jockey (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to jockey in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913927 Title: Jockey will fail against local disk archive Status in OEM Priority Project: In Progress Status in OEM Priority Project precise series: New Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Ubuntu 11.10 Jockey 0.9.4-0ubuntu10 Some logic looks problematic and is causing jockey to fail to find drivers on our on-disk repositories.
