[Desktop-packages] [Bug 996344] Re: Podcasts in double
Not solved. However, I really think it concerns only podcast from France Culture and France Inter, in my case. Have you tried to post a message on the Ubuntu France forum? In case you have, tell me the url! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996344 Title: Podcasts in double Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I use Rhythmbox to manage 15 podcasts. Since about 3 month, on each start of Rhythmbox, a lot of already downloaded episodes appear with an "empty" status. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 927515] Re: thunderbird uses excessive cpu power
Regression or not, it's still an annoying bug. I'm attaching performance data from my older computer, where this is a nuisance. In the two minutes I let Thunderbird run, it fetched less than 1000 emails - which means just a few emails per second (which is not good IMO!). The latest comment indicates that this would be eCryptfs related - for the record, I'm also running eCryptfs. Seeing the top perf results, it looks like they are crypto related, but I don't think this is the only cause. The fact that it also seems to spend a significant amount of time in pthread_mutex_lock/unlock also looks like a programming error to me. 14,78% thunderbird-bin [kernel.kallsyms] [k] aes_encrypt 3,65% thunderbird-bin libfreebl3.so [.] rijndael_decryptBlock128 3,56% thunderbird-bin libmozsqlite3.so [.] zeroPage 3,50% thunderbird-bin [kernel.kallsyms] [k] aes_decrypt 2,56% thunderbird-bin libpthread-2.15.so [.] pthread_mutex_lock 1,84% thunderbird-bin libpthread-2.15.so [.] __pthread_mutex_unlock_usercnt 1,80% thunderbird-bin [kernel.kallsyms] [k] _raw_spin_unlock_irqrestore 1,75% thunderbird-bin [kernel.kallsyms] [k] __copy_from_user_ll_nozero 1,71% thunderbird-bin libfreebl3.so [.] shaCompress ** Attachment added: "perf.data" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/927515/+attachment/3221899/+files/perf.data -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/927515 Title: thunderbird uses excessive cpu power Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Just received the automatic update last night. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 997900] Re: Wireless is disabled by hardware switch
There are plenty of askubuntu similar issues. (e.g. http://askubuntu.com/questions/139036/ubuntu-12-04-says-wireless-is- disabled-by-hardware-switch) and launchpad answers too. Thanks for the fix. I upgraded gnome-media to 3.4.0-0ubuntu4 and had a test, now the second record can play, but still has something wrong. How to reproduce: Round 1 * Open Sound Recorder, click "Record sound" button, say "This is the first record", then click "Stop sound" * Click "Play sound", you can hear "This is the first sound" Round 2 * Without clicking save button, click "Record sound" again, it will prompt you to save the sound, choose "Save As" to save it to "1.ogg" * Now new record is started, say "This is the second record", then click "Stop sound" * Click "Play sound" again, but you still hear "This is the first found", not the expected "This is the second record" Round 3 * Click "Record sound" for the third time, after prompt save the second record to "2.ogg" * Record the sound "This is the third record", then click "Stop sound" * Click "Play sound" and you will hear "This is the second record", not "This is the third record" So the play issue is fixed, but it will always play the last saved record instead of the current record after the second time. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 927515] Re: thunderbird uses excessive cpu power
Some further info: My syslog was geting spammed with eCryptfs messages as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecryptfs/+bug/911507, but only when Thunderbird was in online mode. The culprit was a zero length global-messages-db.sqlite-journal file under .thunderbird. I'd copied my .thunderbird directory from my old laptop (that wasn't using encrypted homedir) to the new laptop (which is using encrypted homedir). Moving the file out of the way stopped the eCryptfs spam, and dropped CPU usage from about 70%+ to about 54%, which isn't melting the laptop. Thunderbird has recreated the global-messages-db.sqlite-journal file, and it now has non-zero length. I guess what it's doing now is more normal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/927515 Title: thunderbird uses excessive cpu power Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Just received the automatic update last night. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 996770] Re: Lock screen is occasionally solid black except for mouse cursor after resuming from suspend
This has happened to me as well on a Dell Precision T3400 desktop with Ubuntu 12.04 and GNOME 3.4.1 all 64 bits. I am using twinview with dual- monitor setup and an Nvidia card and drivers. The bug has the same behavior as described above. I noticed that it seems to only happen when I lock the system without having any window open. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/996770 Title: Lock screen is occasionally solid black except for mouse cursor after resuming from suspend Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have lately found that my screen will remain completely black except for the mouse cursor when I try to log back into my locked session after resuming my laptop from suspend. The cursor does change into a text entry cursor when I move it over the general area where the password entry box would be located, so I assume it's simply a display issue of some sort. It's worth noting that this problem only occurs occasionally for me, and only when I resume my laptop from suspend after i.e. closing its lid for travel. If I let my laptop turn off and lock its screen on its own after some time while plugged directly into a wall socket, the problem does not occur then, no matter how many times it's allowed to do so. I can still access a tty by hitting Ctrl+Alt+F1 when this occurs, at which point my only workaround I've found so far has been to restart the machine via the command line. Tested using packages from the gstreamer dev ppa (gstreamer1.0 / 0.11.92) https://launchpad.net/~gstreamer-developers/+archive/ppa and the same problem: gst-launch-1.0 playbin uri="smb://lion/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gstreamer0.10 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024117 Title: fails to play mp3s from a samba share using gio Status in “gstreamer0.10” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm running the following command to play an mp3 file over a samba share: gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin2 uri="smb://lion/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3" it starts to play, but after about 1 second the audio goes silent, but the command doesn't finish. Playing the same file in rhythmbox does the same thing and the progress indicator keeps moving, suggesting playing but is just silent. If play the same file from the same server but via ssh or sftp, it plays fine: gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin2 uri="ssh://lion/media/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3" If I manually build a chain of sinks using giosrc directly, rather than using playbin2, it plays ok: gst-launch-0.10 giosrc location="smb://lion/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3" ! flump3dec ! autoaudiosink If I play a flac file from the same server (using playbin2 again), it also plays fine (yes, you heard right, hehe!): gst-launch-0.10 playbin2 uri="smb://lion/music/Music/Admiral Fallow/Boots Met My Face/Admiral Fallow - Boots Met My Face - 01 Dead Against Smoking.flac" I've attached logs with GST_DEBUG=*:5 for all the above commands. They all succeed except mp3 over smb. I'm using gstreamer0.10-plugins-base 0.10.36-1 on Precise. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)
Thanks for the job. I'll test once I get back home next week. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950160 Title: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key) Status in Gnome Settings Daemon: Fix Released Status in OEM Priority Project: Confirmed Status in OEM Priority Project precise series: Confirmed Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “compiz” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Precise: Fix Committed Status in “unity” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “compiz” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Quantal: Fix Committed Status in “unity” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Bug description: WORKAROUND 1: Run CCSM and under "Ubuntu Unity Plugin" change the key binding for "Key to show the launcher" to something else (e.g. Super+U). Then log out and in again. As long as no compiz plugin is bound to the single Super key any more, compiz will no longer block other apps from binding to Super+other_keys. WORKAROUND 2: 1. Write a script or figure out the command to do the action you want. 2. Run ccsm. 3. Enable the "Commands" plugin 4. In the Commands settings, fill in the command line you want and bind it to key Super+P. Now Unity will run your specified command on Super+P, but still handle the Super key as usual. [Precise SRU Justification] [Impact] Any shortcut with Super, Hyper, Meta virtual modifiers does not work [Test Case] Attach an external monitor to the laptop, press Super+P, it should do the video switch as this function is implemented in gnome-settings-daemon. A patch in comment #12 is now accepted upstream and a test package with that patch is available in comment #14. From the test result, the patch at least fixes Unity-2D. [Regression Potential] The patch is accepted upstream and is also cherry-picked in the gnome-3-4 branch of g-s-d git tree. g-s-d version in Precise is 3.4.2. So the risk of regression should be rather low. [Other] I prepare a debdiff in comment #31 for convenience. I hope the patch can be in both Quantal and Precise. ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Using : 12.04 Beta 1, updated. and Unity. In 11.10 clicking: - the function key (Fn) + (F1) allowed to switch between the laptop screen and the external monitor. After upgrading to 12.04 this no more works and instead I get an unexpected behavior: see the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vEnrV5TwXo System: Dell XPS 15 L502X ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: ubuntu-sso-client 2.99.90-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-18.28-generic 3.2.9 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Mar 8 19:18:42 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: ubuntu-sso-client UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-03-02 (6 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/950160/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I usually play gnomine with a grid of 69 X 42 squares with 666 mines (I call this 'bastard mode'). Since upgrading to 12.04, the "updated" gnomine does not allow resizing. As such, bastard mode is far far bigger than my screen is likely to ever be. Furthermore, the new startup interface makes my life more difficult, as I need to re-enter the specs for bastard mode every time I want to play, as opposed to how it used to be where it just started a new game with the previous settings. How this can be fixed: - reinstate resizing of the gnomine window. - pre-populate the 'custom' settings with the last-played game settings (or add a 'play again' option). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 950160] Re: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key)
Hello hanynowsky, or anyone else affected, Accepted gnome-settings-daemon into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- settings-daemon/3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance! ** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed ** Tags removed: verification-failed ** Tags added: verification-needed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950160 Title: Unity blocks other programs from binding globally to Super+* or Alt+* (* = any key) Status in Gnome Settings Daemon: Fix Released Status in OEM Priority Project: Confirmed Status in OEM Priority Project precise series: Confirmed Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “compiz” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Precise: Fix Committed Status in “unity” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “compiz” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Quantal: Fix Committed Status in “unity” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Bug description: WORKAROUND 1: Run CCSM and under "Ubuntu Unity Plugin" change the key binding for "Key to show the launcher" to something else (e.g.
