apport information ** Attachment added: AplayDevices.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225789/+attachment/3822670/+files/AplayDevices.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1225789 Title: [FUJITSU AMILO La1703 audio playback] Audio volume extremely low Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello Please note: Bug #1225622 reports a similar issue against the same hardware but diffirent Ubuntu software. Additionally, the said bug reports issues related to no sound. Due to symptoms and Ubuntu versions differing I am creating this report. I will add as much detail as possible. Please contact me if there are steps that I can take to facilitate further. Symptoms: After a full clean install there was one symptom, very low sound volume that I could detect with headphones. The fans on this system plus other ambient sound made it difficult to confirm if the same volume of sound was being emitted by the speaker. The Sound System Settings displayed both the internal speaker and headphone as Play Sound Through. I would have to do an erase and install of the said OS to verify this with 100% accuracy or startup from the live CD. As quite some time has been exhausted trying to workaround the issue I can't make this claim with complete accuracy. Workarounds: Followed Installation Instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS and applied oem-audio-hda-daily-lts-raring-dkms_0.201309132333~ubuntu12.04.1_all.deb (302.4 KiB) as per https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/alsa-daily/+packages. Interstingly, the above workaround created a secondary issue, Ubuntu Software Center continuosly quit unexpectedly while running a spinng gear of cogwheel. I can't verify if it the secondary issue that I mentioning here is completely related but the error messages would certainly suggest it. I recovered out of it by following the first bullet point in http://askubuntu.com/questions/233389/how-can-i-fix- errors-relating-to-the-launch-of-the-software-center After fixing the secondary issue with Ubuntu Software Center, I restarted and launched Sound System Settings but the Output tab display nothing in the list. If I plug headphones into the respective jack, the following appears under the Output tab, Headphones, VT8237A/VT8251 HDA Controller. Although the focus of this report is audio out volume leve, plugging a mic also displays the same in the Input tab. The headphones continue to emit sound but it is very low in volume, barely audible. 1) ~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Release: 12.04 -Software- fresh install, ~ 2 days UBUNTU Release 12.04 (precise) 32-bit Kernel Linux 3.8.0-30-generic GNOME 3.4.2 As reported in the terminal ~$ lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. Public bug reported: When you finish a game of mahjongg and choose New Game from the scores list, if you immediately whip your mouse into the top left corner (in Gnome 3) to switch to the overview mode while that new game is still loading, your mahjongg game will be greyed out, and will remain greyed out when you switch back to it. Since I, by habit, quickly flip my mouse up to the top left between games to check my other windows for new messages etc, this happens to me quite often. I have first noted that nautilus-image-manipulator does not show up when right-clicking on an image in Ubuntu 11.10, which it should (and does in Debian testing, where the package comes from). Looking at the release notes, significant changes have been made to Nautilus-Python in versions 0.7 and 1.0 that change the paths where the extensions are to be looked in. Ubuntu 11.10 is the first Ubuntu version to use Nautilus-Python 0.7, so I'm suspecting this affects all Nautilus extensions written in Python. I have opened 2 bug reports that are relevant to this issue [0] and [1]. I suspect the problem is related to 2 things: - The extensions are not looked for anymore in the familiar /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0/python - Importing the module `nautilus` is not valid anymore Please mark your project/package as affect by this bug so that we can keep track of the affected packages, and share the solution to fix this. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 883256] Re: unnecessary separation of keyboard and keyboard layout
I think this is improved in Ubuntu 13.10. Although there are still two separate panels, the Keyboard one is for keyboard settings and shortcuts. The Region Language panel manages all the language-related settings. They use different icons. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883256 Title: unnecessary separation of keyboard and keyboard layout Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The new system settings tool for gnome 3 has replaced the old one, because that had lots of issues, and had too many items. But at least it did have filtering. Now the new one is starting to have the same problem: 1. Open system settings Observe the two different keyboard-related items: Keyboard and keyboard layout These two have similar icons, and I think the best would be to have them merged, as the only reason to keep them separated seems to be to differentiate between the category (Hardware and Personal) seems kindof strange, as people are used to have them in the same panel, and it would be nice to have keyboard-related settings in one place. So i suggest adding the keyboard layout panel back as a tab of the keyboard settings panel, as this way that panel would have three separate tabs. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites
Hi all. I too had these issues right after upgrading my system to 13.10. My experience mirrors that of Phill, with a few differences: * Sound output is sometimes interrupted in my audio player * Mouse still moves (clicks don't work) BUT it sometimes freezes as well * The problem occurs in a virtual console as well. Emacs freezes (I can't enter text) * No reboot required. But sometimes it takes a long time for the computer to unfreeze. * Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit (3.11.0-7-generic) Furthermore, contrary to saha's experience, there isn't any correlation between a freeze and cpu load for me. Also saha is running a 3.8.0-25-generic kernel and the freezes don't occurs with 3.8.0 for me (see end of my comment). I have a laptop with nvidia optimus (intel graphics + discrete nvidia card, however the intel card always drives the display even though the nvidia card might be the source). The problem occurs while using any of the 2 graphics adapters. However a bug in the intel driver could still be to blame, but very unlikely in my opinion. So I don't think this is a graphics issue. Now, I also have a 3.8.0-30-generic kernel, which I have been using for an hour now. No freezes yet. So I think this is a kernel bug. I think it unlikely to be a problem related to a combination kernel + gfx card because as I mentioned the problem occurs without X too. I will update my comment if a freeze occurs. I will try different kernels and see what happens and report back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have recently, re-installed fresh ubuntu 13.10 distribution release. The installation process was flawless but on installation the system was logging in only after activating nomodeset in the grub menu. However, this problem was sorted out when the Nvidia -304 drivers were installed. The network -manager applet was also not visible and in the network settings no dsl / ethernet connection /card was available. The network settings is only showing VPN connections. The dsl connection could only be activated through pppoeconf as no network manager was available. It seems the gnome edition discourages all other modes of internet connections other than VPN. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 778860] Re: Firefox corrupts screen when loading flash content
Tim Blundell, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily kernel folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11.1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 569709] Re: [RS690M] Random screen corruption
Marco, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . Thank you for your understanding. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 556782 [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569709 Title: [RS690M] Random screen corruption Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: xorg When I use the computer sometimes it become not-usable. I can't say what should I do for getting this nor I can say that it happends when I have a lot of program open etc. (however I collected that debug information when I get this kind of problem) I have always evince open, loaded with very large PDF file and I usually get this problem when I scroll the PDF's file...but, again, I can't say it is the problem :-) because evince is open for the 90% of time I use the PC.
