Title:
Java editor view has no focus after double-clicking a java file

Status in Eclipse:
  Confirmed
Status in eclipse package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: eclipse

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. in the Package explorer, double-click on a Java file
  2. press CTRL + F to search for some string in the file

  Expected results:
A Java editor view gets opened. The Java editor view gets the focus, and CTRL
+ F opens the find/replace dialog for that file.

  Actual results:
A Java editor view gets opened. Focus however stays at the Package explorer
view, and CTRL + F opens some search field for the Package explorer.

This worked fine with the Eclipse in Kubuntu 9.10.

In addition, Zend Studio for Eclipse also is affected. This worked
fine in Zend Studios for Eclipse 7.12 on Kubuntu 9.10, and after re-
installing Kubuntu 10.04 (and copying back my home directory which
also includes Zend Studio), this was broken.

I've also filed this in the Eclipse bug tracker, but the Eclipse folk
says that this probably is "buried lower":
  https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=312568

Launchpad issue #237819 sounds a bit similar, but I'm not quite sure
  about this.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 516123]

2015-08-08 Thread Peter Wu
In June 2015 there was another attempt to get this patch merged[0], it
seems that people are now recommending/leaning towards replacing xf86
-video-dummy[1] by Xvfb[2][3].

The patch looks trivial enough to get merged, but maybe it never will
due to Xvfb deprecation (=WONTFIX)?

hitting the same issue once and a while.
it happened again yesterday. i could record some traffic on dbus:

this pastebin shows the log with high performance impact.
at the end of the log things are getting normal again:
http://pastebin.com/v55umuBF

this pastebin in comparison shows the traffic after things settled and the
phone was usable again.
http://pastebin.com/CrQ0Z3K2

both recordings are about 1 minute.

maybe this helps to track it down...

Bug description:
  Krillin, rc-proposed, r83

  DESCRIPTION:
I've been trying to track down the cause of the occasional UI freezes on my
Krillin device, and I noticed that whenever the UI freezes for 2-4 seconds, I
get a burst of "PropertiesChanged" signals in dbus-monitor

  Here's a log of what's shown in dbus-monitor:
  http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11992322/

I'd guess the problem is in the code that actually catches the signals
  and acts accordingly.

  HOW TO REPRODUCE:
  1) Move to a place where many wifi hotspots are available
  2) Connect the device via USB and run "phablet-shell" and then "dbus-monitor"
  3) Use the device while keeping an eye on dbus-monitor output

Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
After recently changing from Ubuntu 15.04 with Unity, to Ubuntu Gnome
15.04, I have noticed that in Ubuntu Gnome, if I go into the profile
settings and enable Transparency for gnome-terminal, it will only take
effect once I have resized the gnome-terminal window by the means of
pulling the window to another side of my screen and make it snap to a
certain size (so if I pull it to the top it will maximize, if to the
side, it will only then take up half of the screen).

I have also noticed that if I open any other gnome-terminal window
that I must go into the settings, and change the settings slightly for
the Transparency (turning it off and on again, or moving the slider),
even though the settings show it to be on, then I must get it to do
the resize by dragging it to one edge of my screen (as I mentioned
earlier) for the gnome-terminal to be transparent, otherwise it stays
whatever colour I have set it to.

Title:
  Transparency failing gnome-terminal

Status in Ubuntu GNOME:
  Incomplete
Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu:
  New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1459235] Re: Google Address book: Unable to open address book

2015-08-08 Thread Lloyd Kvam
wmccarty: "0Auth password sign in thing that Google said they would no
longer support"

I think that's backwards. Google requires OAuth, but Evolution does not
DIRECTLY support it. Gnome now has a separate module for OAuth.

Run gnome-control-center; chose online accounts; add your Google account
and allow Evolution to access it.

Once you've done this correctly, Google will display the access that you've
allowed:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1293384] Re: Compiz CPU usage dramatically increased in Ubuntu 14.04

Title:
Compiz CPU usage dramatically increased in Ubuntu 14.04

Status in Compiz:
  Triaged
Status in compiz package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
It appears that the workload of low-level graphical operations used by
compiz when, for example, moving windows has increased dramatically
between Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 14.04.

This might not be that visible when using high-end gpus, but should be
clearly visible when using compiz on llvmpipe and to some-extent
invalidates the approach of using compiz on top of llvmpipe as a
fallback when no GPU is available:

  How to reproduce:
  1) Use the unity-3d desktop in Ubuntu 14.04 on top of a non-accelerating Xorg
driver like "modesetting". Move windows around. Note peak and average cpu-usage.

How to verify compiz is the culprit:
  1) copy /usr/bin/compiz from a Ubuntu 12.04 installation. Drop it in as
/usr/bin/compiz on 14.04. Reboot. Perform the same window movement. CPU-usage
should be substantially lower.

This problem also affects VMs running on VMware ESX with a software-
rendering GPU. Window movement becomes sluggish, which suggests that
even with GPUs, compiz has increased the number of operations required
  to move windows.

Title:
  Transparency failing gnome-terminal

Status in Ubuntu GNOME:
  New
Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu:
  New

I typically run Thunderbird, Firefox, a terminal or two, Gthumb, Gimp,
Qcad, Gedit, Libreoffice, Inkscape, Document Viewer and occasionally
  Virtualbox.

I just noticed this a couple of weeks ago, so I am guessing a recent
  update started it.

It seems to me that there are quite a few duplicate copies of some
processes populating memory after suspending/resuming a session for a
few days. Namely, dbus-daemon, gvfsd and gconfd-2. The more I
suspend/resume the session, the more of these processes appear. After
a while they start using up a significant amount of memory and system
  response seems to slow down.

Logging out and back in did not alleviate the problem. Rebooting did.
But, I will have to reboot again in a week to free up the memory used
  by these duplicate processes.

The example session used to get the following results was probably
well over a week in use.

  Before rebooting:
  $ ps -ef >prereboot.txt
  $ grep -i dbus-daemon postreboot.txt
  $ grep -i dbus-daemon https://bugs.launchpad.net/docky/+bug/1427785/+subscriptions

Bug description:
Filing this against the 340-updates version but possibly the same
applies to older versions, too. The nvidia source package produces two
  individual dkms packages: nvidia-340-updates, nvidia-340-updates-uvm.
The problem is that the DKMS build of the nvidia-uvm module runs
compile steps inside the nvidia modules build directory. This is
violating the DKMS assumption that each module can be build
independently (there is no way of describing cross-modules
dependencies and even more important, the autoinstall step after a new
kernel is installed will run the modules build in parallel).

Since nvidia and nvidia-uvm are very dependent on each other the right
course of action seems to be to combine both sources in one DKMS
module that produces two kernel modules (this is supported by DKMS).
For the transition this resulting dkms package needs to have a
  breaks/replaces for the nvidia-uvm package.

2015-08-08 Thread Christianus Pistorius
Why is this still "Undecided" even after 8 months? It's basic
functionality that is buggy as hell. I, for one, need stable wifi
because the router is down the hall, and my flatmate's at that, and I
won't put 10 m of network cable across the flat just because my wifi
driver and the kernel won't talk. At university, I also can't just plug
my laptop into a network socket everywhere :\ I'm seriously disappointed
that there doesn't seem to be any motion to fix this very annoying issue
so far. Changing my Ubuntu back to upstart and using a little script to
switch wifi power management off on start helps to at least reduce the
crashes to once a week or so and no wifi after resuming from standby,
but this is just a workaround and not a real solution, especially since
it just shifts problems elsewhere – I basically can't use standby.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 946988] Re: GnuPG passphrase error after failed backup session

2015-08-08 Thread Artur Bodera
I'm seeing this with duplicity 0.7.04 on OSX, using onedrive backend.
Unable to resume backup.
--use-agent doesn't help
No password prompt appears, backup just fails.

After a failed backup session, duplicity cannot resume the volume
creation, and seems to fail with "bad passphrase". It is, however, the
same passphrase that is always used.

The backup set thus seems to be unusable, and the only solution I've
found is to simply create a new backup set in a new directory, losing
  incremental history.

  Full output attached as "duplicity-error-incremental-log-v9".

Also reported as Debian bug #659009, but it has gotten no attention

does this only happen in GNOME? sounds more like a gpu driver bug, than
something GNOME specific.

Bug description:
Since upgrading on Ubuntu Gnome 15.04 from Gnome 3.14. to Gnome 3.16 I
have noticed that on occasions, when I awake my machine from suspend,
the screen will simply stay black, even though I press the power
button on my laptop and it lights up and stops just flashing on and
off, and I also hear my disk getting ready for action, or whatever the
noise is I always hear when I awake my machine from suspend, my screen
is still black, without even any back lights. And I am forced the
power down the machine manually and restart.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1291574]

2015-08-08 Thread Joev-8450
... at this point I'm inferring there will not be upgraded versions of
libdrm, libdrm-devel for fc21? I did downgrade my laptop from 2.4.60 to
2.4.58 in Jun as noted below. I'm guessing the fix really is to go to
fc22. I ask because now my desktop is also experiencing these freeze
ups tho not in the frequency that others have reported.

This ticket concerns the database application. When designing a form

Hi Tim!

If I understand it correctly, this would mean that localized versions of
gnome-getting-started-docs end up in language-pack-gnome-XX-base, which
are already pulled by language-selector-common. Hence dropping the
language-selector bug task.

Please let me know if I missed anything.

Right, I missed it's universe...

But in that case I suppose that you need to make the source package
build language specific deb-files, such as

gnome-getting-started-docs-en
gnome-getting-started-docs-fr
gnome-getting-started-docs-de

Still guessing, though.
