[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1521345] Re: mimeapps.list not applying as expected
Additionally, manual editing of `mimeapps.list` does not even always work. For some mime‑type, adding an entry in `[Default Applications]` does not make it the default, but is displayed by the Nautilus file menu, as if it was in `[Added Associations]`. I've checked there is a single one `mimeapps.list` on my system, so that exclude a conflict between multiple `mimeapps.list`. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xdg-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521345 Title: mimeapps.list not applying as expected Status in xdg-utils package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: First, I noticed editing preferred application to open a file of a given type, could not be edited any‑more from the file property dialogue box. Any system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected non-latin keyboard layout. Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly. Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system parameters->keyboard->hotkeys->windows works perfect with any keyboard layout. Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non- latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin layouts this workaround helps only with one of them. Dear Ubuntu users and developers! Please include the following information to your comment about non-latin shortcuts problems: 1. What Ubuntu version do you have (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 GNOME, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME and so on), upgraded (describe version) or clean installed 2. What keyboard layout do you have 3. What shortcut for keyboard layout switching do you use 4. On which session you have problems - that is one from Unity, GNOME Shell, GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Metacity), GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Compiz) 5. With which program and its version and origin (Ubuntu repositories, PPA, non-deb binary package from some website) you have problems. By providing this information you can make bug-fixing much simpler and may be faster. -- For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see bug 1218322. -- To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptana-studio-installer/+bug/1226962/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1478321] [NEW] Weird battery values bq Aquaris 4.5
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Many times it happens that the percentage of the battery shown is not the real one. Yesterday evening I had a big problem where the phone suddenly went from 20% to 0% and it shut itself down. This is shown in the battery history graph, that I attach. As you can see there are various vertical lines, clearly indicating that the value jumps from one point to the other. This is a big problem, because if one sees that the phone has still 20% of battery, one thinks that it still has 1/5 of its life span before dying. It is not the first time that this happens to me and others, and I believe that anyone experiencing this should attach a picture of it, so that eventually we might be able to resolve it, maybe with some kind of approximations. ** Affects: upower (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Weird battery values bq Aquaris 4.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1478321 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to upower in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1478321] Re: Weird battery values bq Aquaris 4.5
The screenshot is not of indicator-power, it is of System Settings. If the value is jumping in the System Settings graph, it can't be a bug in indicator-power. The question then is whether it is a problem in upower, which provides the charging information, or in System Settings, which graphs the information provided. You have been subscribed to a public bug: If I suspend my computer while typing-monitor is blocking the screen and I continue the computer later on the screen is still locked but typing- monitor is not displayed The mouse clicks are not working while the cursor works. Keyboard shortcuts work not but with alt+f4 I could manage to "unlock" the screen. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1448937] Re: LibreOffice has serious kerning issues with characters' display of font, bold, italic
I saw that this bug expired because of inactivity. Indeed I have not checked it for a while. I do however have an update, if that might be relevant: I managed to install the new bios. It did not solve my issue, from time to time I still have the weird font display problems I described. The output of the command Cristopher specified on 29-09-2015 is: GPET65WW (1.65 ) 06/26/2015 In addition: I have also upgraded to Ubuntu 15.10. That did not change anything either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1448937 Title: LibreOffice has serious kerning issues with characters' display of font, bold, italic Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I run in to distorted text in LibreOffice, depending on zoom level. At first I thought it was a LO-bug, but now I have found that I don't get this issues when I run the AMD proprietary driver (fglrx). So I think it might be a problem in the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. I have a Radeon HD 8600M series in a Lenovo S540. The attached file shows an example of the bug that I had in Calc. The bottom right is the 'normal' text. Three lines, with the bottom one in bold. Depending on the zoom level, the text is distorted in many ways: bold / italic / font (appearance). Some extra information: -This happens in all LO-apps I use: Calc, Writer, Impress. -I don't have a clear way of reproducing it. The apps normally start out perfectly fine. After a while this can happen, not always. Risk factors seem to include having multiple LO-files open, especially between different apps. -It is not always that the 100% zoom level is ok. That can be distorted too. -This never ever happens in any other app / program I use. If this is unlikely to be caused by the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, I apologize for reporting it here. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
I'm having this issue since the first boot of my new Dell Inspiron 5558 (with Nvidia GeForce 920M), and that's about 15 days already. Tried like millions of solutions including ones I found here, but nothing worked for me. Reinstalled Ubuntu for 20 times I think, from 14.04 to 15.10, tried UEFI and legacy boot (as someone somewhere suggested this as solution too), modified that one .conf file in modprobe.d as someone else suggested, added xorg-edgers repository and pulled the packages from it... I can't remember anymore what else I tried, but nothing helps. Touchpad (pointer) freezes randomly without recognizable pattern. Sometimes right after the boot, sometimes 5 minutes after, sometimes one hour after, but eventually it will freeze, sonner or later. Sometimes it does not only freeze, it starts to act weird, opening right click menus while still frozen, like randomly generating all kinds of touchpad inputs. Sometimes it fixes itself after closing/opening laptop screen (going to suspend and waking), but this is not working every time also. This is driving me insane. I love Ubuntu for years and I love my new DELL Inspiron, but having the laptop with defective touchpad defies its very purpose. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220426 Title: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad Status in X.Org X server: Fix Released Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in xorg-server source package in Trusty: Triaged Bug description: Using Asus N43SL laptop as an example, with nvidia-prime installed, so the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card (GT 540m) is in use, once in a while, my screen will freeze when I use my touchpad. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1520568] Re: All queries fails when 'google' is used: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
I just noticed this today. AFAICT, it only affects https to www.google.com and other Google subdomains (first noticed on docs.google.com). It does not affect Firefox. Odder still, I have two fully up-to-date (AFAICT) Xenial machines, both amd64. One of them connects to https://www.google.com just fine, the other produces the error shown here. https to other sites, e.g. Launchpad, gitlab, github, etc. all work fine. No proxies involved, no weird networking setups afaict (I did have bridge networking set up on the failing machine, but disabled that and still had the problem after a reboot). Running chromium in --verbose mode on the console didn't show up anything obvious. I even disabled all plugins and it still had the problem after a browser restart. But at least I have two systems that are exhibiting different behavior, so maybe that can help debug the issue. I'm at a loss as to what to look at next. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1520568 Title: All queries fails when 'google' is used: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nss package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Latest libnss3 upgrade have broken all the browser's queries; no matter of which is used. Until now we defaulted to the Novatel plugin when a Dell device was found, but then we're breaking newer MBIM Sierra Dell- branded modems, as we don't have MBIM support in the Novatel plugin. And one more thing. In my case, there is NO difference whether proprietary or nouveau drivers are in use, the freeze will happen regardless. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1512129] Re: Headphones not detected at startup
Further investigation - this seems to be because I am running with a separate /var partition and the alsa systemd services are being started before the /var partition is mounted. I have tried altering my fstab to include the x-initrd.mount option as suggested at http://superuser.com/a/841748 on the /var partition (so the options end up being defaults,x-initrd.mount) but this appears to prevent the partition from being loaded altogether. Searching for this brought up a Red Hat bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1249513 - not sure if Kubuntu 15.10 would be affected by that? ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1249513 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1249513 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512129 Title: Headphones not detected at startup Status in alsa-utils package in Ubuntu: New Status in kubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The headphones are not detected if they are plugged in before the system starts up. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1521381] [NEW] Volume control does not switch audio device after plugging in
Public bug reported: After plugging in an audio device, the volume control appears to stay on the main system device. Therefore, sound is emitted from the external device but when controlling volume, it doesn't change the output level. It is necessary to go to 'Sound Settings' and change the output device to the one where sound is actually being output from in order to gain volume control of that device. Use case #1: (1) Plug in USB Logitech Clearchat. (2) Control volume from the unity slider Result: Slider moves but does not change output level. Use case #2: (1) Plug in USB Logitech Clearchat. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1521392] [NEW] Pointer disappeared after 15.04 -> 15.10 upgrade
Public bug reported: I upgraded from 15.05 -> 15.10 and the pointer disappeared. I found a temp fix, It is "sudo service lightdm restart". I have to run this after every restart. I guess I can put this in my startup script but there has to be a better way to handle this. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521392 Title: Pointer disappeared after 15.04 -> 15.10 upgrade Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I upgraded from 15.05 -> 15.10 and the pointer disappeared.
