[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1665914] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus
I have just encountered this same problem. I don't have the stylus but the system does freeze when I touch the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665914 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet. I can use the stylus to move the cursor – but when I touch the screen with it (i.e. click), the system immediately freezes. When I touch it without X, in the text mode (Ctrl+Alt+F1) it does not freeze. I tried to debug it over network, but the network also freezes at the same moment. When I try QubesOS (with kernel 4.1.13-9.pvops.qubes.x86_64) on the same machine, the stylus works correctly and the system does not freeze. Any tips how to debug it? Maybe using the serial port (I have the docking station with RS232). Or I can try some older releases and find the last one that was working if it helps. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
I don't think there is any need to move the files installed to /usr/share/doc to the onboard package instead of onboard-common. I don't think the HACKING file is useful to users (only to developers who will probably need to use bzr anyway) so I'll stop installing it. It's ok to install the .conf files with a wildcard to /usr/share/doc because this only affects the build files. That wildcard does not move or remove any .conf files already installed on a user's computer. I might spell it out any way since there is only one file affected so a wildcard isn't needed (the wildcard was there in the old Ubuntu package; I just pointed it /usr/share/doc instead). Mike wants to keep using copyright.in but I don't know how that works so I'll let him do it. Mike usually uses changelog entries automatically generated from git commit messages to the packaging repo; they can be manually adjusted but it means I usually keep my changelog entries there even shorter than I normally do. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1665853] Re: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration
The path was wrong in #6 (I forgot the /.config/ Copying /home//.config/monitors.xml to /var/lib/lightdm/.config/monitors.xml fixes this issue for me (see image attached). Btw.: After upgrade to new HWE/Xorg I had to resize my monitors to get rid of similar situations for the gnome session itself. That could be done by reajusting resolution two times (go for wrong resolution and back to right resolution). But that could be done via GUI (system settings/displax devices). Be that a bug in itself or not, I think it is not convenient, at least. However, the GUI setting did not affect lightdm monitor settings. Only copying monitors.xml to /var/lib/lightdm/.config/ did. For lightdm, I think this is a bug, just because it requires non-GUI user interaction. Average users should not be tricked into such situations. ** Attachment added: "CIMG1107.JPG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1665853/+attachment/4821679/+files/CIMG1107.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665853 Title: Gnome Flashback: Could not assign CRTC to outputs, ignoring configuration Status in gnome-flashback package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: New Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm using ubuntu 16.04, up-to-date, HWE kernel 4.8.0-36-generic. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1665914] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus
Public bug reported: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665914 Title: Ubuntu 16.04 freezes on Thinkpad X61 Tablet when touched by the stylus Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have (up to date) Ubuntu 16.04 on IBM Thinkpad X61 Tablet. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
Installation of the debs was broken, as onboard*.deb and onboard- common*.deb tried both to install the AUTHORS (and other doc files) into the same directory. So I moved them from onboard-common.install to onboard.install. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1665382] Re: File operation progress does not complete properly
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665382 Title: File operation progress does not complete properly Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When copying files, a progress indicator button appears in the toolbar (round "cake" diagram). It also opens a popover that lists all file operations with a progress bar each. Unfortunately the popover 1) covers a huge part of the window, 2) it is opened on all nautilus windows on all workspaces, 3) the progress popover does not close on its own when the operations are completed (circle diagram shows full, but does not disappear) and 4) the unity launcher icon and alt-tab switcher continue displaying the full progress bar. Furthermore, the unconscious need to remove what covers your sight seduces the user to click the nearest "X" to close the popover. However, the "X" aborts file operations leading to corrupted, incompletely copied files. The correct way is to toggle the progress button. However, the toggle-off action is unintuitive because the user did not manually toggle it on. Expected behavior: Popover window opens when the user clicks the progress indicator button, and it only opens on the current workspace. After file operations complete, it closes on its own and the progress bar on the launcher icon disappears. Actual behavior: Popover window opens on all nautilus windows. After file operations complete, they do not close. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1664746] Re: Request for sponsorship for new upstream release (zesty deb provided)
Jeremy, I created a new debianisation for zesty. It is based on the debianisation of Onboard 1.3.0-1ubuntu1 currently in the main Ubuntu repo and gave it version number 1.4.1-0ubuntu1 so that it can be overwritten by 1.4.1-1ubuntu1 when synching from debian. I tried to follow your suggestions above and also looked at your debianisation of 1.4.1 for debian experimental: - The debian/changelog only has entries concerning the debian folder and the bugs that have to be closed. - I copied your onboard-common.install file moving some files to the doc directory. However, I removed the asterisk from from line 14, because we have to distinguish between the onboard-defaults.conf.example example file that can be moved to the doc directory and the onboard-defaults.conf file, which is not a doc file, when it is present. (onboard-defaults.conf is not present by default.) - I removed the patch that installs the onboard-defaults.conf file. - I used my updated copyright file Feel free to use and change it the way you like. ** Changed in: gnome-software Status: Confirmed => Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554117 Title: gnome-software search bar duplicates letters while typing Status in GNOME Software: Unknown Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When entering text into the search bar at the top of the gnome- software application, the letters typed are doubled. In other words, if you enter, say, the letter "R", it the search bar will now contain "RR". Also, sometimes hitting the left arrow key in the search bar will delete both letters that were entered. Backspace does the same. The only way to get rid of the double letters is to try to navigate to the second letter and hit the delete key. Sometimes even that solution is inconsistent. But python-paramiko is only a suggestion for duplicity package. When the user does not have this package installed on its system, he/she can still select "ssh" as storage location method in deja-dup. So I guess deja-dup should explicitely depend on python-paramiko, or make ssh option unavailable if the package is not present.
