I think that there should be an option in the gnome-tweak-tool to make it so that the weeks are displayed as starting on Sunday in the built-in calendar accessible from the top-bar. This can already be done manually, but an option in the GUI would be nice. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1417470] Re: PDF+Latex export creates multipage pdf, pages missing
As the previous fix only worked around the issue by adding blank pages to the output I had another shot at fixing this. I created a merge request with a "proper" fix that actually outputs partial renderings of the final document which can then be stacked in the LaTeX document with the text sandwiched in between, see https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/merge_requests/135 As the renderer (especially the hack we use to make PDF+LaTeX work) is a fragile thing and I'm not too familiar with it yet this requires a lot of testing. I'd appreciate if you could check with your own samples if Inkscape produces proper output. Attached is an example document that should highlight the new functionality. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to inkscape in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1417470 Title: PDF+Latex export creates multipage pdf, pages missing Status in Inkscape: Fix Released Status in inkscape package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in inkscape package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: In 0.91 the z-order information in svg is used to create multipage PDF+LaTeX documents as per bug 771957. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1731796] Re: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 23s! [gdbus:2878]
Happened again. Auto-bug reporting didn't recognize this report as similar, so created bug 1734405 Note - compiz was in Z state (per top), consuming 100% of a cpu (per top) throughout the incident. I was able to login via ssh and look at things. I don't believe that a stuck compiz process could be caused by soft lockups. So the compiz process *may* be closer to the root cause? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731796 Title: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 23s! I don't know whether or not my samba installation was working immediately before the upgrade; the windows box that was intended to be a client died and has not been replaced. Don't believe my answers to the forced questions. *** My ubuntu system locks up regularly. Bugs I've reported about this get closed for inattention, after being ignored, and queries about how to do basic debugging get the same treatment, so I just power cycle whenever it happens again. This time the lock up happened while the GUI upgrade-everything-to- latest tool was running. When I power cycled the box to recover, the system was unusable - flashing "system problem detected" popups, none staying stable long enough to respond. ssh + "sudo apt-get update" + "sudo apt-get upgrade" pointed me to "sudo dpkg --configure -a" That command reported numerous errors - I don't know which of them are "normal" for this system, but hidden by the GUI, and which are new. But it got the system semi-usable from the GUI, so now I'm clicking on "yes, report it" for the many pop-ups, of which this is one. FWIW, samba is one of the ones "dpkg --reconfigure -a" complained about. ** Changed in: gnome-calendar Status: Confirmed => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-calendar in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653873 Title: gnome-calendar desktop file claims text/calendar mime support, but doesn't actually open such files Status in GNOME Calendar: Expired Status in gnome-calendar package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: release: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS package version: 3.20.4-0ubuntu0.1 Expected behavior: gnome-calendar displays text/calendar file contents OR doesn't report support for such files so that some other application will be used. Observed behavior: gnome-calendar registers itself as supporting text/calendar files, but doesn't actually open them, at least not on launch by an external program, such as any mailcap program or Nautilus. From Nautilus, gnome-calendar never opens. From mailcap applications, gnome-calendar opens but just shows a calendar. Additional details: Found when using a mail client that uses mailcap to find programs to open attachments. The /etc/mailcap file claims that, to open files of type text/calendar (e.g. *.ics files), one should run 'gnome-calendar %s' replacing %s with the filename: text/calendar; gnome-calendar %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY" I found via tracing that this line comes from when the update-mime program parses /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Calendar.desktop from the gnome-calendar package, which includes the line MimeType=text/calendar; The actual behavior of running gnome-calendar in this way is that it ignores the file argument and just shows a calendar and does not view the file specified. Relatedly, this desktop file also seems to result in Nautilus thinking that gnome-calendar should open a .ics file, but when opening a file via nautilus, I get an indicator showing that gnome-calendar is launching, but no window opens and the indicator eventually times out. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1734388] Re: LibreOffice Snap version is not recognizing the word accent keys.
Can you please elaborate on what you mean by accent keys? I'm using a French keyboard layout where "é" and "è" are primary keys, and they are input correctly in libreoffice. I also tested a Spanish layout with a dead key for the acute accent, and I was able to input letters such as "é" by combining the dead key and "e". I'm not familiar with Portuguese layouts, please explain how you input accentuated characters and how it's not working. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 402892 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402892 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 402892 Mouse cursor gets stuck in "drag and drop" mode -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316873 Title: Left mouse button stops working Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron 15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible that the plugin is to blame. Symptom === The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to function as normal. When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as normal. This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. I will appreciate any soltion or workaround. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1694225] Re: [Thinkpad T450s] Click lock effect on trackpoint left button when touchpad is disabled
In my case I want to disable the touchpad completely :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1694225 Title: [Thinkpad T450s] Click lock effect on trackpoint left button when touchpad is disabled Status in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Click lock is a behavior where you do a button click once, the system will register the click as "holding the button". In laptop Thinkpad T450s I have an issue where the disabled touchpad sometimes could trigger the click lock when clicking the trackpoint (red pointing stick)'s left button. Basically it happens randomly when my palm is touching the touchpad while I'm clicking the trackpoint left button. But I found a way to make the bug occurs easily: 1. Disable the touchpad first. You can do this from ubuntu's "Mouse & Touchpad" setting. 2. Put your two fingers on the touchpad (whether your two fingers are tapping or pressing the clickpad, it doesn't matter). You could use your left hand's index and middle finger for this. 3. While your left hand's two fingers are on the touchpad, use your right hand to click the trackpoint's left button once (don't hold it) on the desktop area, then immediately move the cursor with the pointing stick. 4. If the click lock effect gets triggered, you would see you make a selection drag on the desktop area. If the click lock doesn't happen, repeat again the step 3. The evtest log on the trackpoint: $evtest /dev/input/event15 Input driver version is 1.0.1 Input device ID: bus 0x11 vendor 0x2 product 0xa version 0x0 Input device name: "TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint" Supported events: Event type 0 (EV_SYN) Event type 1 (EV_KEY) Event code 272 (BTN_LEFT) Event code 273 (BTN_RIGHT) Event code 274 (BTN_MIDDLE) Event type 2 (EV_REL) Event code 0 (REL_X) Event code 1 (REL_Y) Properties: Property type 0 (INPUT_PROP_POINTER) Property type 5 (INPUT_PROP_POINTING_STICK) Testing ... So when click lock is happening, the button left is not released at all, thus it's producing "hold the button" effect. More Informations: This issue doesn't happen on other OS like Windows, but I can confirm it happens on most modern linux distro and DE I've tried (e.g. ubuntu v17/v16, kubuntu, ubuntu mate, xubuntu, lubuntu, linux mint, fedora, open suse, etc). So this issue must be coming from the synaptic touchpad driver, or maybe from the kernel (?) Also, the issue doesn't occur on older thinkpad models which doesn't use same clickpad type touchpad, e.g. T430 or X230. For newer thinkpad models (e.g. T460, X260, etc) which uses same clickpad design, same issue might exists too (need confirmation though). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1730399] Re: Add krackattacks mitigation
** Changed in: wpa (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to wpa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730399 Title: Add krackattacks mitigation Status in wpa package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: See for reference: https://www.krackattacks.com/#ap-mitigations Yes this is not a bug. However, it has been noted on ubuntu-devel that adding some features even to stable releases could be justified in *some* cases. First of paramount importance is that the fix introduces no regression. In this case this code is *only* used if a new parameter is set: wpa_disable_eapol_key_retries=1 if this parameter is missing, behaviour will not change. So any regression introduced will be caused by a deliberate admin decision, from where all responsability could be denied (use at your own risk, yadda, yadda...) Then is this parameter useful: it could be for the hundred of millions of Android Phone that are not yet patched (6.0 et upper) and will never be patched (about 50% of existing Android Phones). Please note that at least one wifi provider has already decided to provide this feature to help its users: https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory /cisco-sa-20171016-wpa so this is something that leaders do :-) I have already patched my AP that runs Ubuntu 16 LTS (see attached patch against 2.4-0ubuntu6.2, I have used my AP for 3 days now with a Ubuntu and an Android client without problem) and I could try to provide a patch for Ubuntu 17. This kind of patch is really trivial anyway, since it's just a port of the upstream patch in hostapd: https://w1.fi/cgit/hostap/commit/?id=6f234c1e2ee1ede29f2412b7012b3345ed8e52d3 However I have a big problem. Any security patch (and this is a security enhancing patch at least) is only worth as much as it is *tested*. And I don't have the means to verify that mitigation is effective, as the vulnerability discoverer has not provided (for obvious reasons) public testing code for clients. I think that Ubuntu should have this code (or did you just distribute security patches without testing that they are effective ? that would not be very serious IMO). There is no chance that M. Vanhoef sends his code to any old dog on the internet, so Canonical is my only chance for a real test of this feature on an Ubuntu AP (short of rewriting the attack code myself, not an attractive proposition). If in fact you don't have the testing (well, attack) code feel free to dismiss my bug report as irrelevant. But if you have please consider the opportunity to add some goodwill to Ubuntu. Thanks. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1694225] Re: [Thinkpad T450s] Click lock effect on trackpoint left button when touchpad is disabled
Hi James, Seems that command solves the issue but there is a drawback, it disables the touchpad completely. Even "Enable Touchpad" option in the mouse & touchpad GUI setting and xinput set-prop "Device Enabled" command won't work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1694225 Title: [Thinkpad T450s] Click lock effect on trackpoint left button when touchpad is disabled Status in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Click lock is a behavior where you do a button click once, the system will register the click as "holding the button". [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1722708] Re: Crash when setting laptop display resolution
This problem still affects me: - I got a full HD monitor (1920x1080) connected via HDMI. - Laptop display with internal resolution 3200x1800. If I try to change the laptop display to 1600x900 (custom added resolution btw) to use 100% window scaling on both monitors, I'm instantly returned to the login screen (resolution changes are not applied). This happens every time I try to do this. However, I was able to change the laptop monitor resolution to 1920x1080! And, afterwards, I could even successfully change to 1600x900. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722708 Title: Crash when setting laptop display resolution Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: This system has a 4k laptop screen with resolution 3840x2160, and an external HP monitor connected via HDMI, resolution 1920x1200. Windows, fonts etc are not scaled properly on the external monitor (too large, etc), and the only workaround I've found with earlier versions and other distros is to set the laptop display to 1920x1080 mode, so that's what I'm trying here as well. However, when doing that, the X (wayland, not sure if the package is correct here) session crashes and brings me back to login screen. So to summarize: connect the external monitor, go to Settings > Devices > Displays, click primary built in display, observe that it shows Resolution 3840x2160 (16:9) and Scale 200%, change resolution to 1920x1080 (16:9), click Apply --> crash. Hi tenwit, thanks for your report! You did just right to clean up and complete the installation. On the error that occurred, what I can find related in your log is: frontend: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0. I found various such issues across the past - not frequent but every now and then: - bug 951404 - bug 821630 None came to a perfect conclusion, but it matches the error in your log as well as the symptom "the graphical login having crashed". That took down everything else with it, so the upgrade which you completed later on. You might read through those bugs, there are some hints on lightdm.conf being responsible, but since you are "out of the bug" already that might not matter to you anymore. On the actual issue I don't see openssh related in any way - instead I'll re-file this against Given that this seems to be something like an X server dying checking and attaching those logs might help the Team around lightdm and such as well. ** Package changed: openssh (Ubuntu) => lightdm (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734212 Title: package openssh-server 1:7.5p1-10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Happened during upgrade of Ubuntu from 17.04 to 17.10.
