[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1737614] Re: Low sound volume with Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (ALC3227) in HP 15-BS576TX laptop
The issues persist on Ubuntu 18.04.1 with Linux Kernel 4.20. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1737614 Title: Low sound volume with Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio (ALC3227) in HP 15-BS576TX laptop Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: I have a new laptop HP-15-BS576TX which has this Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio. 00:1f.3 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio [8086:9d71] (rev 21) The laptop sound works perfectly fine in Windows 10 with realtek drivers. However, in Ubuntu 17.10, the volume is significantly low, that I've to scroll the volume slider above 100% mark in pulseaudio to the maximum to get acceptable level of sound. I suspect the sound quality also is low (mono-like), may be not coming from all speakers (perhaps subwoofer exist for this model). Also alsamixer shows the speaker volume at the maximum. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1726516] Re: no progress bar while copying files
Reproduction and unexpected user experience details: * In a nautilus window, navigate to a folder that contains a source folder of large files (e.g., video or pictures) that is sufficient to trigger the copy progress indicator. * Create two `test1` and `test2` folders on the Desktop * In a new nautilus window, open the Desktop folder. At this point, one should see `test1` and `test2` folders on the desktop and in the Desktop folder in the nautilus window. * Copy the source data to `test1` by dragging and dropping in the nautilus window. The copy progress pie chart in the nautilus window should appear. (Okay to cancel the copy once the indicator appears.) * Repeat the copy, this time dragging the source folder to `test2` on the Desktop (*not* in the nautilus window). On my system (ubuntu 18.10), the progress indicator never appears. Many reports have focused on the inconspicuousness of the progress indicator; I concur with that observation. However, I am more perplexed by the inconsistency in behavior when copying to folders on the desktop versus copying to the Desktop folder within a nautilus window. A partial workaround which doesn't completely fix the issue but improves things is the following: Adding to /etc/pulse/default.pa, use_ucm=0 tsched=0 right after module- udev-detect and /etc/pulse/daemon resample-method = src-sinc-best-quality default-sample-format = s16le default-fragment-size-msec=80 default-sample-rate = 48000 Don't know which what specific parameter improved this, because when I test each one of those singularly doesn't totally fix the problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 66566]
Wow, I realized a few days ago that Shift+Enter and Ctrl+Shift+Enter didn't work anymore, I thought it was a bug in my Linux distribution... I'm surprised to see that this was a deliberate decision. I've been using these keyboard shortcuts for years (probably more than a decade) and I've always missed them when using another browser (they're one of the reasons I've kept using Firefox all these years, when a lot of people I know moved to Chrome for example) I do a lot of browsing in a private browsing window, so some websites I sometimes use are not (and never have been) in my navigation history or in my bookmarks. Neither do I want some of these websites in my history or bookmarks. It's almost become muscle memory after all these years to type the domain and Ctrl+Enter, Shift+Enter or Ctrl+Shift+Enter :) I guess someone will make an extension to bring back that feature :) Or maybe I'll take the time to figure out how to do it myself, or I'll patch and compile my own Firefox to bring it back... but given that I'm too lazy to simply type .net or .org it doesn't look like any of this will happen haha -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/66566 Title: Inconsistent shortcuts for new tab Status in Mozilla Firefox: Fix Released Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in firefox-3.0 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in firefox-3.5 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: There are currently too many shortcuts when opening a link in a new tab: - location bar: + - GO button: + click - search bar: + - SEARCH button + click - links: + click - menu bar: + click - BACKWARD/FORWARD button: + click This is one of the reasons I'm keeping with Opera. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1776475] Re: Unlocking existing session often requires several attempts.
I have a question for people experiencing this bug (yes, you included :-). Please: * open xfce4-settings-manager, * click icon "power manager", * click tab "security", * report what settings are there for when to "automatically lock the session", "delay locking after screensaver for...", "lock screen when system is going to sleep" * if the bug affects you, * and your exact distribution version. Also, since you have to login to launchpad to comment here, please answer to "does this bug affect you?" question on top of this page. This will help me figure out a proper fix. Disruption windows (popups) include e.g. "Domain name mismatch", or "failed to connect to server." As I understand, such popups make sense if the user updates the mailbox actively. However, they should be disabled when mailboxes are updated automatically, since these problems do not require immediate attention. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1810404] [NEW] printing options set in control center don't work
Public bug reported: 1. Open settings. 2. Go to Devices / Printers. 3. Click "Add..." and add a network printer with a duplex unit located automatically by the network scan. 4. Generate a DB overview and open it with the following example command*: java -jar ~/schemaSpy.jar -dp /usr/share/java/postgresql.jar -hq -t pgsql -host localhost:5432 -db database -s public -u user -p password -o ~/db && x-www-browser file://"$HOME"/db/index.html 2. Use SVG rather than PNG for the diagrams: wget https://github.com/l0b0/schemaspy2svg/blob/16cb919405c48b66397771e5af0d3f27136dbd1a/schemaspy2svg.sh bash schemaspy2svg.sh ~/db 3. Go back to the browser window. 4. Left-click on the "Relationships" tab. 5. Left-click on any of the tables. At this point, the browser freezes seemingly indefinitely (at least a few minutes). Workaround: If I *middle-click* on the image a new tab opens up immediately without problems. * I can't provide the DB for testing, it is unfortunately proprietary. But the command is based on the above, simply with the port, database, user and password exchanged. Firefox freezes when I enter full screen mode. By freeze, I *do not* mean that it locks up. I can't think of another word to use. What happens is that anything below the top bar becomes unreadable. For example, after a period of time in full screen, if I were to go and begin typing a web address, what usually would come down in a drop menu of recent websites doesn't appear. Also, if I am scrolling down a website, it doesn't register. This is the case until I put the mouse at the top of the screen to bring down the top bar, and at this time the new website will register on the screen. Apologies if this doesn't make enough sense.
