So we can expect kernel v5.11 to fix this issue without any additional work. Before the release of v5.11, you are suggested to use #189 to save your touchpad. Note that for distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora, the pinctrl-amd driver is built into the initramfs. So you have to rebuild the initramfs after replacing the old module with new one. On Fedora, run `sudo dracut --force`; On ubuntu, run `sudo update-initramfs -u`. The complete solution is three patches, - 47a0001436352c9853d72bf2071e85b316d688a2 ("pinctrl: amd: remove debounce filter setting in IRQ type setting") - 06abe8291bc31839950f7d0362d9979edc88a666 ("pinctrl: amd: fix incorrect way to disable debounce filter") - 8dcb7a15a585b6d0fee15751ce11d7a68cfedd56 ("gpiolib: acpi: Take into account debounce settings") The first two patches has reached the stable tree. If the last one is also backported to LTS kernel, you won't need to install kernel 5.11. But I don't know when this will happen. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1813441] Re: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications
Guys, this is a *BRUTAL* regression. It's NOT acceptable to break the desktop experience like that in a LTS release because "the legacy code was unmaintainable". Either replace the legacy code with a mature, well- written extension which works *exactly* the same way, or continue to maintain the old dirty (whatever) code, until you have a VALID replacement. You're *under-estimating* the impact of such a bug. Desktop icons have been "a thing" for the last 30 years or so and are the first thing any user sees. And I'm not talking only about non-technical people: I'm talking about people like me that have been using Linux since 1998. Now, not only arrow keys and drag'n'drop don't work, but even just creating or deleting a file on the desktop causes an ugly refresh. Sometimes, just moving an icon causes the whole gnome shell to crash. I was hoping this bug would be fixed ASAP after the 20.04 release or, at most, for the 20.10 release, but still nothing. And, no, I don't wanna use dirty workarounds which will break on upgrade. I'd like an officially-supported fix. For instabilities like these "the world" stopped using KDE 4 and switched to GNOME. Even MANY years later now, with KDE perfectly stable etc., people still use GNOME. Do you really want to loose the desktop segment? People will stop using Ubuntu for things like that. This bug's "Importance" should be: "VERY HIGH", not "Medium". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813441 Title: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons: New Status in gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: In releases before 19.04, you could drag and drop files from the desktop into applications. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1846423]
I've been poking around a little and it appears to me that the parsing error was introduced in the fix for bug 1555646. The fix backported a commit to the upstream libical to do the type validation, but the libical version was changed shortly afterwards to use a generated table, so they won't have noticed that the DURATION case for TRIGGER was missing. Those changes are quite invasive, but simply adding DURATION to the type check might be enough to fix the current problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1846423 Title: Lightning: Cannot dismiss reminders. I'm using Ubuntu Mate but the issue is likely indpendant of the DE. When displaying the applications-development.svg icon (from categories), either in Caja (Nautilus fork) or the Applications menu, the silver part is black instead of the normal appearance. It only appears with sizes 16, 22, 24 & 32; sizes 48, 64 & 128 appear fine. The weird things is that it doesn't happen if I open the icons in Inkscape or display them in a HTML page. It only happens in the file manager and Apps menu (and probably other places I haven't been able to check, like menus and such). Might be a Gtk rendering issue rather than the icons themselves. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1897962] Re: Out of Memory Error with Brother DCP-J7720W
I can further confirm that this escl buggy driver affects other scanners, e.g. Epson XP-830 just to name *one* but there are endless Escl network printers/scanners these days. Using the PPA:- https://launchpad.net/~sane-project/+archive/ubuntu/sane-release version 1.0.32 *does* work a lot better!. I have really come to the conclusion that the sane-release PPA is very backwards-compatible with all the existing software-tools, simple-scan, xsane, skanlite, libreoffice, xscanimage, gimp, gscan2pdf, ... in all cases I have tested, the 1.0.32 sane-release ppa version of sane backends works the same or better as the focal 1.0.29 version without requiring any software to be re-compiled. 'gscan2pdf' is notably more functional than simple-scan in terms of being able to auto-rotate back- sides of scanned auto-feed pages. The trouble comes, helping users without having to do all sorts of searching and having to 'find out' bugs hard way Can a new point- release of focal provide sane-backends and sane-airscan backported, well-tested packages? As to when to get users ipp-usb (or not) installed, is another matter entirely, that also matters. For some ipp-usb makes the scanning work well, for other cases not, needs to be NOT running to support legacy scanner drivers!... I suspect for 22.04 ipp-usb should be provided by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to sane-backends in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1897962 Title: Out of Memory Error with Brother DCP-J7720W Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Installed XSane from the repository but when I scan the viewer screen is blank and if I try to save I get "Error during save: out of memory" I believe that escl driver in 20.04 sane-backends is a problem and it is related to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=962539 sane-backends 1.0.31 should be considered for focal-backports and that if possible, escl driver could be individually SRU (Stable release update) in focal-updates. ppa:sane-project/sane-git fixes the issue. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1903986] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freezes with remmina in full-screen
Daniel, on Feb 2 I have changed to "Ubuntu on Wayland" at login as you suggested and up till now I have had no issues with freezing. But yesterday after few months I needed to record my screen and found out that SimpleScreenRecorder program does not capture video if wayland is used, so I switched back to X session selecting "Ubuntu" session at login recorded screen. Today I have just forgotten to changed back to wayland. And the result? Today using X session and Ubuntu freezed and the only way to get it back was hard reset. So your theory of my problem being related to "X session" on my laptop may have some true in it. I just wanted to inform you about this. I am switching back to wayland now. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903986 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 freezes with remmina in full-screen Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On Ubuntu 20.04 using Remmina accessing remote Windows session to my work and everything was working fine for 5 hours and then suddenly Reminna freezes.
