Title:
  [Lenovo X1 Carbon 9th] [SYNA8009:00 06CB:CE57] touchpad lagging after
  resume from suspend

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Hardware: Thinkpad X1 Carbon, 9th generation
  Touchpad: SYNA8009:00 06CB:CE57

Right after a clean reboot, the touchpad works fine. No issues
whatsoever. But after resuming from even its first suspend after a
clean boot, the touchpad feels less responsive, choppy or even laggy.

I have tried removing and re-inserting some HID kernel modules,
"psmouse", and setting i915.psr_enabled=0 in kernelstubs. Haven't
found anything that fixes it yet. The trackpoint works flawlessly all
the time, so that is the current backup when I don't have an external
  mouse connected.

My installed OS is Pop!_Os 21.04, but I have tested and confirmed this
on a live USB with Ubuntu 21.04 as well.

I have also tried upgrading to the latest 5.13.5 and 5.14.0rc2 kernels
from the mainline PPA, and tried bumping the libinput10 to 1.18.0 from
  the impish repos.

  To recreate:
  1. Reboot a X1C9 machine and see that the touchpad works fine
  2. Suspend it (to RAM, need to change a BiOS setting so it doesn't do a
software suspend)
  3. Resume from suspend and see that touchpad acts differently and less
responsive than right after a clean boot

  What is expected:
  1. Same responsive touchpad experience after resuming from suspend as right
after a clean boot.

Title:
[HP 120-1100eo API] Screen flickering white vertical lines

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The screen on my HP AIO computer flickers. I'm able to browse the
computer, but it's giving me headache.

Flickering consists pattern of 2cm height white vertical pixel lines
(1*Wpx white and 1*Wpx transparent lines) and 2cm transparent section.

Flicker also has 1px lines with dashes ending them about 10cm from
left of the screen and 2cm from right of the screen.

Mathematically letter W being 100% of screen width in above
  description.

Flickering seems to be consistent to screen refresh state (~60Hz).
Changing refresh rate does not affect in to amount of flickering.

Same thing not happening in Windows nor BIOS. Even though this looks a
  LOT like a hardware/wiring issue.

Also the problem is visible in Ubuntu installer, but not in graphic
  safe one.

  Best regards, korho.

Title:
Bluetooth, when turned off, does not disconnect from connected
  headphones

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
It seems like there is some sort of "disconnect" message that other
operating systems (Android, MacOS) send to all connected bluetooth
devices when the computer/phone's bluetooth system is turned off,
  which Ubuntu 20.04.02LTS does not.

When I connect my headphones (Aftershokz Aeropex) to my 20.04.02LTS
Ubuntu system (running on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 3rd Gen), and then turn
off bluetooth entire from Ubuntu settings, the headphones act as if
the connection to its source device (i.e., the computer) has been lost
unexpectedly, exactly in the same way they would if I'd walked out of
range: they give a periodic "out of range" beep until I power-cycle
  them.

If I specifically go into Ubuntu bluetooth settings and disconnect
just the headphones, then the headphones do a quick beep to
acknowledge the disconnection, and do not give "out of range"
  notifications.

The expected behavior, which my two main other source devices do (a
Macbook, my Android phone), is that when one turns off the bluetooth
system, the source device sends that "disconnect" message to the
headphones (headphones beep once), and there is no "out of range"
  beeping afterward.

Double tap desktop icons on a touchscreen barely works.

  [Fix]
Because tapping isn't as precise as clicking, ignore the double click
distance as long as the icon is tapped.

  [Test]
Roughly double tap the desktop icon and nothing happens.
After applying the fix, double tap can 100% open the app or directory.
[racb] Since single click code is also being adjusted, please also test that
single clicking behaviour has not changed.
[racb] Since clicking with modifiers (holding Shift and/or Ctrl) is also
being adjusted, please also test that modifier clicking behaviour has not
changed.

  [Where problems could occur]
If the new code throws any exception, clicking can also be affected.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1937988] Autopkgtest regression report (mesa/21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3~20.04.1)

2021-08-09 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted mesa (21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3~20.04.1) for
focal have finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

gtk+3.0/3.24.20-0ubuntu1 (ppc64el)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

Status in mesa source package in Focal:

Status in mesa source package in Hirsute:

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Image is distorted with PRIME, caused by mismatch in stride alignment between
intel and amdgpu/nvidia after intel bumped the alignment to 256 bytes.

  [Fix]
Upstream fixed it in 21.2-series, and backport to 21.0.x needs four commits
in total.

  [Test case]
  1. Connect a monitor on the AMD GPU.
  2. Power on the system and boot into OS.
  3. Run below command to launch glxgears
  Cmd> DRI_PRIME=1 glxgears -info

  * Expected result
The image is not distorted while running the glxgears

  * Actual result
The image is distorted while running the glxgears

  [Where things might go wrong]
This is a regression caused by the intel driver, so the backports merely fix
what got broken. Regressions would only manifest on hybrid graphics platforms.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1939173] Re: [HP 120-1100eo API] Screen flickering white vertical lines

2021-08-09 Thread Juuso Korhonen
Hi!

I'm sorry I was unclear. I meant that I was on just "Ubuntu" and then
switched to "Ubuntu on Wayland". Sadly this didn't help, so I created
the bug report.

Today I tried installing Ubuntu in Legacy mode. This didn't help. Again,
the graphic safe installer works normally but not the normal installer.

How shall we continue debugging?

Best regards and thank you for your responses!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1939331] [NEW] Firefox freezing system by occupying all RAM

2021-08-09 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

For several days, some weeks maybe, I'm suffering from the problem that
every now and then (several times a day) firefox runs into a state where
it occupies all available RAM.

Sometimes it is still possible with patience, because mouse and keyboard
become slow and other programs can't run, to kill firefox or start QPS
with CTRL-ALT-DEL.

In almost all cases QPS shows that there are four of the many firefox
processes having occupied more than 4GB RAM each. Since my PC has 16GB
RAM, all is occupied.

In most cases it is not possible to kill firefox anymore (because I
can't get even an existing shell window to become active or start QPS)
and not even properly shut down the PC with a short press on the power
button.

It is never a single firefox task running berserk, it's always four or
more. Maybe some memory leak.

Maybe this is not caused by a new bug, but possibly by new ADS on web
pages.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be possible to limit the memory space
to be occupied by firefox, since limits apply to single processes, and
firefox opens a process per browser window or tab.

However, we should have some method to limit the mem space firefox can
occupy.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1879893] Re: GNOME crashed when resuming from sleep in NVIDIA performance mode with disconnecting dell-wd19tb-dock

2021-08-09 Thread Steve
@Shih-Yuan Lee:

I see you use a similar dockingstation and you made patch
(https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/)

But I have exact the same behaviour - see my bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-460/+bug/1935951

It is almost a similar hardconfiguration - I think - using a WD19DC
instead of a WD19TB docking station and Dell 15' 128GB RAM + NVIDIA RTX
5000 16GB with Ubuntu 20.04LTS

Unfortunately, my bug is still in State incomplete as I do not get any
X11 crash file in /var/crash/ ; Only the nvidia error in the Xorg.log files
with X11 restart and I upload all kinds of files

Running X11 session exits sometimes with EnterVT failed with an NVIDIA error
"- Setting a mode on head 1 failed: Invalid surface parameters" and (EE)
NVIDIA(0): Failed to enter VT (mode initialization failed)

Do you think a similar patch can be done in my case?
In the mergerequest
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/443/ I posted a
question if my bug is related to your mergerequest but was denied (a nvidia
only bug according to M.Dänzer)

Would you mind to have a look at my bug?

Thank you very much!

Hey! I checked and it seems the impish langpacks were stuck because of
an unnoticed broken run at one point. They should now be unblocked - I
see a new set of langpacks available in the archive now.

Status in OEM Priority Project:
  In Progress
Status in mesa package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed
Status in mesa source package in Focal:
  New
Status in mesa source package in Hirsute:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Image is distorted with PRIME, caused by mismatch in stride alignment between
intel and amdgpu/nvidia after intel bumped the alignment to 256 bytes.

  [Fix]
Upstream fixed it in 21.2-series, and backport to 21.0.x needs four commits
in total.

  [Test case]
  1. Connect a monitor on the AMD GPU.
  2. Power on the system and boot into OS.
  3. Run below command to launch glxgears
  Cmd> DRI_PRIME=1 glxgears -info

  * Expected result
The image is not distorted while running the glxgears

  * Actual result

2021-08-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
You were already using "Ubuntu on Wayland" to begin with. Please try
just "Ubuntu".

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1939173] Re: [HP 120-1100eo API] Screen flickering white vertical lines

2021-08-09 Thread Juuso Korhonen
Hello!

Thank you for your replies!

I switched to "Ubuntu on Wayland" to test if this helped. Unfortunately,
flickering happens at both options.

I'll try to switch to Legacy. That's good advice! Thanks!

Best regards!
