[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1935604] Re: network-manager-applet: stored auto connect VPN gets changed when viewing settings
After some prompting it was suggested I attach a debdiff of the above patches applied on 1.8.24-1ubuntu4. I've tested locally on my machine and it appears to work, as well as fix the bug I experienced. I'd much prefer to backport the existing 1.22 package but there were too many updated package dependencies for me to get it working. ** Patch added: "Diff from 1.8.24-1ubuntu3 with the above 3 patches applied. Builds on focal and solves the problem on my local machine." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1935604/+attachment/5517667/+files/1-1.8.24-1ubuntu4.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-applet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935604 Title: network-manager-applet: stored auto connect VPN gets changed when viewing settings Status in network-manager-applet package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Xubuntu 20.04.2 LTS focal Applet version from network-manager-gnome 1.8.24-1uubuntu3 amd64 Please note: the issue described below only seems to occur when building the applet on my xubuntu 20.04.2 LTS machines. (I have not tried other ubuntu variants). If I'm on my home xubuntu machine the problem seems to appear whether I'm using the ubuntu package, the ubuntu source archive, the upstream archive, or the upstream source distribution. The problem does _not_ seem to occur when building the exact same upstream sources in debian using xfce as its window manager. (I have not tried other debian variants). Experienced If I open an existing connection with an existing VPN, the selected VPN in the VPN drop down list appears to always show the incorrect VPN. This results in a situation where opening a connection and clicking "save" on the general tab always changes the selected VPN, even if I did not make any change. Expected When I open an existing connection, the VPN listed should be the VPN actually on the connection, not some other random VPN from my list Reproduction Steps 1. Open nm-connection-editor 2. Add multiple VPNs with different names (i.e. US VPN East, US VPN West, Corp VPN East, Corp VPN Europe, Corp VPN West) 3. Create a connection (I've reproduced this on wireless and wired connections) 4. Set the connection to automatically connect to VPN 5. Choose any VPN to automatically connect to 6. Save and close 7. re-open nm-connection-editor 8. Edit the same connection created before 9. Note that the automatic VPN has changed to a different VPN in your list without you having to do antying 10. Click save without changing anything 11. re-open network-manager-editor 12. Note again that the VPN connection is _again_ incorrect The symptom you should be experiencing is that the VPN that is chosen when you save - gets saved and used by the connection, but the user interface does not display the correct VPN when viewed in the connection editor. This means that any time you edit the connection it might be swapping your selected VPN without your knowledge. Although it sounds like gnome-shell crashed, truncated core files are not the fault of the program that crashed. Please delete all core files in /tmp/ and /var/crash/ and then next time gnome-shell crashes, 1. Wait 10 seconds. 2. Reboot. 3. Run this command: journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt 4. Attach the resulting text file here. 5. I have SVG file generated by new version of R library svglite version 2.0 and I'm not able to convert it to JPG and PNG correctly. The same happen also when I open default program on Ubuntu with installed XFce. The same happen on Docker that also have version 18.04. I'm attaching the svg and jpeg generated from that file. The last change in `svglite` R library was something with clip-path, but I've removed all `clip-`path from the file and the issue still happen. Just checked again and it seems that imageMagick works fine (convert command), but with `rsvg-convert` give black boxes on the graph. The same happen with default XFce image viewer. It works fine in Chrome and Inkscape. I'm not sure what did changed, but it was giving issue also with image magick (convert command) when I had fresh installation, but I've installed lot of packages including libmagick++-dev. Also magick library for R don't work. It give same issue as `rsvg- convert`, but that library use libmagick shared libraries directly and don't use `convert` command. I was checking my other laptop with Fedora 32 and it works fine there. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1692671] Re: intel driver fails to reenable display
it's been more than 4 years. nothing is the same as when this problem happened -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1692671 Title: intel driver fails to reenable display Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: if the display is sent to sleep it won't wake up. If I go to tty1 or tty2 I'm pulled back to tty7 (?) within seconds. sometimes if I ctrl-alt-del I'm sent back to the login screen and from there I can resume the session. everything was working fine with my previous (1920x1080) display, but since I switched to a 3840x2160 display the only reliable solution to get the computer back from blanking is pressing the power button. I can then see the shutdown "splash" and after powering it back again everything is back to normal. until it blanks the screen again obviusly ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-78.99-generic 4.4.62 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-78-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Mon May 22 19:16:43 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-12-27 (512 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-04-27 (389 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1692671/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1916640] Re: Nvidia 340.108 fails to install with kernels 5.11.x - new patches needeed
I've encountered the same issue upon recent update to the 5.11 kernel with Ubuntu LTS. I restarted, selected the 5.8 kernal and it worked again. I am not sure everyone will work that out and it could be difficult for new starters to trouble shoot from a system which doesn't boot properly. Considering that there is an incompatobility between the linux- image-5.11 and the nvidia-340 packages, should this be flagged as some sort of incompatibility so the kernel doesn't get updated if the nvidia-340 package is already installed? this way, this update would be skipped until 5.12/5.13 are released if these packages don't require patching. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916640 Title: Nvidia 340.108 fails to install with kernels 5.11.x - new patches needeed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: As usual I have opened this (no more) new bug report...
