[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1942894] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.6 for hirsute

2021-09-10 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Rico, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libreoffice into hirsute-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/1:7.1.6-0ubuntu0.21.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
hirsute to verification-done-hirsute. If it does not fix the bug for
you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed-hirsute. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

This morning I found my computer on the login screen.
But not the one of the screen log, no a new one - so something must have

Logging in again confirmed that all apps were gone and the gnome shell

As always things are not perfectly clear :-/
The following goes *back* in time through my logs one by one.

Multiple apps crashed at 06:09, but we will find later that this is a follow

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1941752] Re: Regression: exiv2 0.27.3-3ubuntu1.5 makes Gwenview crash when opening images exported by darktable

Status in gwenview package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Since the recent security update of exiv2, Gwenview crashes when
trying to open image files that got exported by darktable.

  Steps to reproduce:

  * Make a test installation of Kubuntu 21.04 in VirtualBox
  * Install all updates
  * Install darktable
  * Copy one of the images in /usr/share/wallpapers (or any other image) to
your home directory and open it with darktable
  * Within darktable, export a copy of the image (no need to do any actual
modifications)
  * Try to open that copy with Gwenview. Gwenview will crash.

I'm attaching a crash report hinting that this is related to exiv2.

  Temporary workaround:
If I downgrade libexiv2-27 to 0.27.3-3ubuntu1.4, Gwenview doesn't crash, so
it seems the crash is related to changes in 0.27.3-3ubuntu1.5.

I don't know if the underlying cause is actually some bug in exiv2,
  Gwenview or darktable.

  Kind regards, Jan

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1915382] Re: external Monitor shows »No Signal« after dpms sleep

2021-09-10 Thread karlsebal
This bug has been fixed at least with firmware 1.9.1
Don’t know which one in the history did it since the machine was upgraded from
1.6.2 where the bug was still present to the recent version 1.9.1 where it is
not anymore.

Thank you!

external Monitor shows »No Signal« after dpms sleep

Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
My external Monitor connected via HDMI is behaving strange and my
educated guess is it is related to dpms.

Plugging in the monitor it will show »No Signal« although recognized
by `xrandr`. I would have to boot my machine with the monitor plugged
in to make it work. When going to standby (screen blanks after lock,
then screen goes to standby) the monitor is switched on (LED is going
white) and shortly after it will show the no-signal-message. `xrandr`
claims the monitor to be existent. Unplugging and replugging does not
help. Same happens when logging out to greeter. Strange in so far as
when booting up, the greeter is okay with the monitor.

When issuing `xset -dpms` the behaviour changes and the monitor will
enter sleep and come back as expected when locking the session.

Console (tty1-6) is available though at all times.

(I generated the bug report with dpms set off accidentally)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1943234] Re: "ubuntu-bug thunderbird" produces a stackstrace: TypeError: expected string or bytes-like object

2021-09-10 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Fixed with
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mozillateam/thunderbird/thunderbird.impish/revision/639.

Note however that there are several other issues with the apport hook,
starting with not detecting correctly the default profile (see
https://code.launchpad.net/~seb128/thunderbird/default-profile-
fix/+merge/392985), so more work is needed to make it really useful
again.

It was intentional because we never got a usable stack trace, and the
information we did get doesn't look anything like any known crashes.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1943239] Re: second monitor

2021-09-10 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. Your second monitor is not working apparently
because you are using the 'fbdev' Xorg driver, which shouldn't happen.
It looks like that happened because the proper 'modesetting' driver
failed to find a graphics device at /dev/dri/card0. So it would appear
this is a kernel bug.

Please try removing the 'biosdevname=0' kernel parameter and tell us if
that resolves the problem.

Please also try booting an older kernel version and tell us if that
fixes it.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1943232] Re: Clicking on a link in a message does not switch the window to the browser

Note: this happens when I don't have the "Ubuntu Dock" and "Ubuntu
AppIndicator" extensions enabled. I reenabled both and now it seems to

Title:
Clicking on a link in a message does not switch the window to the
  browser

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I click on a link (http or https) in a Thunderbird message, the
link gets opened in the browser (in my case google-chrome) but the
window (google-chrome) is not focused. So I stay in thunderbird and I
need to press 2x! ALT+Tab to get to the google-chrome window.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1942431] Re: Latest chromium crashes after opening Yandex search page

2021-09-10 Thread Alberto Mardegan
I closed this too soon. The crash still happens, but I cannot reproduce
it reliably: there are moments when any search leads to a crash, but
after some time it stops crashing and continues working for hours.

>From the console, the crash appears like this:
