[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1927100] Re: Slow file dialogs, open and save
Just a quick confirmation that with the patch applied, I've had no gvfsd-trash deadlocks requiring a pkill in over a week. It was previously hourly or worse. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927100 Title: Slow file dialogs, open and save Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gvfs source package in Focal: New Bug description: On Ubuntu Mate 20.04. Sometime the Open and Save dialogs in GTK applications will over 20 seconds to display. I found https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/485 , which suggested this due to gvfsd-trash, and running `killall gvfsd-trash` which does temporary solve the problem. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1948561] Re: screechy tinny sound quality
** Description changed: When playing any video other than a youtube video, the sound quality is terrible. It's very tinny and screechy as if it were blowing out the speakers, but even at quiet noise levels. I've tried numerous fixes including editing the config files for pulse audio, adjusting the sound levels in pulseaudio volume control, adjusting the speaker levels in alsa mixer, messing with the levels in pulse effects. In this case, the rear Mic will present on input devices of "Sound Settings" even if attaching nothing to rear mic jack. [Fix] For alsa-ucm-conf part, the Mic 2 should use "Rear Mic Jack" as JackControl because of ``` control.18 { iface CARD name 'Rear Mic Jack' value true comment { access read type BOOLEAN count 1 } } ``` After applying "Rear Mic Jack", the rear Mic will not always there anymore but it's not there as well if hot-plugging audio device on rear mic. Thus, it needs to change pulseaudio to handle if all devices are off cases. For pulseaudio, if there is no any audio devices attached, then attaching an input device on rear mic jack. The port will not be selected automatically because the profiles is off. It needs patch pulseaudio to check off profiles (for dual codec case). [Test] After applying these patches, the rear mic jack works good in all cases (boot without mic and then attach mic, boot with mic and then hotplug it) and other functions (line-in / line-out) work pretty well. [Where problems could occur] This change only apply the bonus on below cases: ``` if ((has_input_port && found_available_input_port && !has_output_port) || (has_output_port && found_available_output_port && !has_input_port) || (has_input_port && found_available_input_port && has_output_port && found_available_output_port)) ``` and these cases have been tested. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1948556] [NEW] calendar has low contrast in both default themes
Public bug reported: Both default dark and light themes of calendar have very low contrast between event and text colour of events. Text colour is always some kind of light grey (dark and light modes) or dark grey (light mode only). On dark theme, setting an account calendar to bright colours doesn't affect the text colour (light text on light background), while the opposite doesn't happen on light theme (text changes colour automatically to dark or light according to background colour). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1741074] Re: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector
It seems, Belgium eID (Comment #36) uses PKCS#11, not native messaging: https://github.com/Fedict/eid-mw/blob/master/plugins_tools/xpi/new-src/manifest.json However the problem is essentially the same: native manifest. Olivier filed a bug in Firefox bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/1734371 "Firefox snap can't load PKCS#11 modules on the host system" I suppose, the title of this bug does not reflect scale of the problem. All browser add-ons that relies on native manifests are affected in Chromium and Firefox. I came across this issue testing an extension in Firefox using Ubuntu-21.10 live image. I am considering whether it is feasible to run a kind of thin proxy server on host that creates a socket inside a directory mounted to snap and runs a binary in response to connection (something like inetd). It requires a stub for native messaging app that connects to the server and pass through requests and responses. Generally it does not differ too much from D-Bus and ideally requires support from Firefox for robust checks if particular add-on is allowed to run a specific app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741074 Title: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector Status in Mozilla Firefox: New Status in KeePassXC Snap Builds: Unknown Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in goopg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in kdeconnect package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: (initially reported at https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/chrome-gnome- shell-does-not-work-with-chromium-snap/3377) See attached screenshot. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1946525] Re: Disks are not being mounted automatically
I have two machines, both upgraded to Ubuntu 21.10. Since the upgrade, automounting removable media has stopped working completely on both of these two. For regular USB disks, etc. I can mount them manually either from the console or by using the Gnome Disks utility. However, I have no idea about how I'm supposed to mount an MTP storage like my phone. The USB devices are obviously being detected, but there seems to be no mechanism active to mount it to the usual /media// path.
