The display is a ThinkVision X1 with built in audio. With the Display Port cable I am then able to output sound from the monitor and this works without any issues. I have now added a 4K Samsung television through HDMI to the same GPU, which also allows me to do 4K at 60Hz, albeit only with Wayland. In Xorg I can only do 30Hz on the television while doing 60Hz on the ThinkVision X1. It is clear however, that when it is set to 60Hz in Wayland, the animation on the television is much more smooth. The problem is that whenever I set the television to 60Hz, the playback of any sound is both high pitched and faster than normal. If I play a video in YouTube, the video appears to playback about twice as fast as normal and and very high pitched sound (everyone sounds like chipmunks). This is the case on the entire system (also when playing the video or any other sounds on the X1 display at 60Hz). Only if I set the refresh rate, on the television, to 30Hz again does everything play and sound normal again. It is only the playback of media that is doubled in speed. Everything else (animations, mouse, etc.) is still behaving as normal. If I change audio output to the ThinkVision X1 (or something else) at 60Hz while also being connected to the television at 60Hz, the audio stays high pitched and sped up. If I unplug the main display, ThinkVision X1, then the playback of media on the television becomes normal. I have tried with different +100 USD HDMI cables, that are all rated as HDMI 2.0 and the behavior stays the same. My system is Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I tried in a LiveUSB 21.10, but the behavior was the same. I have an AMD Radeon VII GPU (Has 3x Display Port and 1x HDMI). As mentioned I cannot test it in Xorg, but that is only because it does not allow me to set the refresh rate to 60Hz. I am uncertain whether this is related to MESA, Pulseaudio or maybe Mutter/Wayland? Public bug reported: cups-filters 1.28.11-1 now recommends lynx for a braille convert to HTML feature. lynx is in universe and it's not allowed for packages in main to recommend packages in universe. Suggestions --- 1. We could just lower it to a Suggests since this might not be a feature we need to enable by default. (You can look at the file-roller for an example of how to tweak dependencies for Ubuntu but still keep the packaging in sync with Debian) 2. If it is acceptable to install w3m by default, maybe this feature could be updated to use w3m instead. This may be worth doing even if we lower the dependency to a Suggests. Public bug reported: NTFS partitions created using gnome-disk-utility don't work on Windows. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open gnome-disk-utility; 2) Choose to create a NTFS partition; 3) Insert the media with the NTFS partition on Windows; 4) Notice how it will hang forever and never load the data. I suspect this is happening because it's using the ntfs kernel driver instead of ntfs-3g. One noticeable difference when creating the partition using Linux is that there are some messages on dmesg: [ 2845.877068] ntfs3: Max link count 4000 [ 2845.877073] ntfs3: Enabled Linux POSIX ACLs support [ 2845.877074] ntfs3: Read-only LZX/Xpress compression included I believe the best would be that the default NTFS partitions create on GNOME Disks are compatible with Windows. I have the same issue. I have a Legion 7 16ACHg6 which I'm testing under Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS and 21.10 LiveUSB, and in both of them there is no sound out of the built-in speakers. Headphones are working fine though. 05:00.6 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller hwinfo shows that there is a "Realtek ALC701" chip in this laptop. Go to https://www.webrtc-experiment.com/Pluginfree-Screen-Sharing/#7325517390736006 2. Select to share the whole desktop in the xdg-desktop-portal 3. Notice the orange screen share indicator in Gnome-Shell but actually nothing is shared in the browser. This should be handled high priority since this is a critical feature during the pandemic. Filed against ubuntu-meta since I don't know exactly which package to blame, whether it's pipewire, xdg-desktop portal or some problem directely with mutter / gnome-shell, please reassign accordingly. As to your own posted link above, you can keep as many versions as you like with snap set system refresh.retain=X -- and you can keep running any version as long as you like with snap revert. TimeShift is your second line of defense for your whole system, incl.
