I see the same issue after upgrading from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04.1, on 2
different computers. It's very frightening for end-users to see Firefox
icon disappear.

I also have to set Firefox as the default browser again (in Firefox
parameters)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1983794] Re: Evolution not deleting autosave files

2022-09-10 Thread Lindsay
Nathan, it looks as if a fix for this problem was "released" a week and
a half ago. Do you have any knowledge of the progress on this? I have
one system here running Ubuntu MATE w. Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS and am
manually tracking released updates/fixes every few days, and the problem
persists.

I have another system running 20.04.5 LTS, which doesn't have the
problem, and which I'd like to bring up-to-date. I'm reluctant to do so
until this problem is fully addressed since Evolution is my everyday go-
to MUA, and I send a lot of emails, and having to deal with this problem
every time would be a major PITA.

Bug description:
Running Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS. Evolution v3.44.1-0ubuntu1
was installed with the distribution on a new system and received
settings imported from an earlier version on another computer.

When composing an email, if the process takes long enough an autosave
  file is created as ~/.local/share/evolution/.evolution-
composer.autosave-xx ("xx" is a random 6 character string).
When the email is successfully sent, the autosave file SHOULD be
deleted. It's not. When evolution is shut down and restarted I'm asked
if I want to recover an unfinished email. Answering No to this will
delete the autosave file, but otherwise it persists and the recovery
query recurs the next time I open evolution.

Other people are having the same issue, see
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/1972. The Gnome
people aren't dealing with it, perhaps considering it a distro-
  specific bug.

On a system used by many people this is a potential security issue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1983175] Re: In Wayland, can't wake up monitor after it has gone black

2022-09-10 Thread Coeur Noir
Mmm…

I had « the bug » once yesterday.

Maybe I can narrow down a bit its context.

After using some sessions on the machine ( meaning : all sessions work
and I'm able to switch between all of them, using « change user » ) I
went back to the login screen where one can chose an user. But I had to
left office a moment, an hour maybe, so leaving computer with that login
screen on ( the one that shows after clicking on « change user » )

Back at the office, screen is black, which seems normal
but typing anything on keyboard or moving mouse or clicking blindly did not
wake up screen.

And this time [ ctrl ] + [ alt ] + [ F1 ] did nothing.

So I hit the [ sleep ] key on the keyboard, putting computer in …sleep, of
course.
Waking it up, still nothing on screen but hitting [ ctrl ] + [ alt ] + [ F1 ]
brought me back the login screen.

Does this help to pinpoint a culprit ?

[ sorry, I forgot about the log, I'll try to think about it next it
happens. If it happens. ]

Xorg sessions, by the way these days.

Title:
In Wayland, can't wake up monitor after it has gone black

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hi,

sorry I don't know if it's about GDM or else.

  Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
  jammy
  Linux 5.15.0-41-generic x86_64 x86_64
  ubuntu / wayland
  installed DE's are :
  ubuntu.desktop ubuntu-xorg.desktop

My system is set to turn screen black after some minutes. And after
some other minutes later, it locks the screen → no sleep nor hibernate
involved ( even if sleep and hibernate are ok on that machine. )

On Xorg, after screen's gone black, any mouse or keyboard solicitation
fires up again the screen, as expected.

On Wayland, after screen's gone black, any mouse or keyboard
solicitation just does nothing, screen stays black.

  BUT

keyboard is not turned off : only thing that works for « waking up » the
screen is
  key-combo [ ctrl ] + [ alt ] + [ F1 ]

After installing Kubuntu 6.10 firefox starts to crash when I log on to

If I run firefox from the konsole I get the following output:

This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.

(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I have tried to reinstall the firefox package though it didn't help.
