Bug description:
  Hi,

  fresh lunar lobster installation here,

from legacy iso image ( ubiquity installer. )

As I usually do, I tried to change the font for interface, as I much
prefer « condensed » fonts rather than large, round, regular ones.

In 20.04 or 22.04 or 22.10 gnome-tweaks allowed to do that.

Today in 23.04, it only changes font in gnome-shell ( top panel,
activities and app's views ) but not in other app's, not in the whole
interface as it used to do.

In dconf-editor I did not find entries regarding « global » interface
  font.

  Is this intended behavior ?

Ability to change font type and size is also a matter of
  accessibility.

  Hi,

  fresh lunar lobster installation here,

from legacy iso image ( ubiquity installer.

Ability to change font type and size is also a matter of
  accessibility.

solves the issue.

2023-05-20 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I see the issue in Debian testing with mutter 43.4. So if the issue is
not present in 22.10, and if it is a mutter thing, it may have happened
somewhere between mutter 43.0 and 43.4.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1958019] Re: [Lenovo Legion7 16ACHg6 82N6, Realtek ALC287, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2023-05-20 Thread Alexis CUGLIETTA
I have the same problem with a ThinkBook 13x Gen 2 with Ubuntu 23.04.
The sound works properly when connecting external speakers or headset,
but I couldn't get the internal speakers to work :( This laptop also has
an ALC287/3306 chip with a CS35L41/CSC3551 amplifier. This seems very
similar what is mentioned here:

https://gist.github.com/lamperez/862763881c0e1c812392b5574727f6ff?permalink_comment_id=4526397

journalctl displays the following message: "Error: ACPI _DSD Properties
are missing for HID CSC3551".

I tried it with the base kernel (6.2.0) as well as the latest one
(6.3.3). The issue occurs regarless of the BIOS version (factory
version: HXCN49WW and 20230517 version: HXCN52WW).

I used the ACPICA tools to extract the ACPI tables and noticed the
entries relative to the CSC3551 did not contain the required "cirrus"
and "dev-index" parameters.

This is quite disapointing and I will juste return the laptop to Lenovo.

Yes you are right, it's not limited to condensed font variant.

And it's not limited to Ubuntu as I hit the exact same issue in Budgie

some other gnome components. )

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2020249] [NEW] Missing Wayland login option on NVIDIA systems - still broken

2023-05-20 Thread Nagle-animats
Public bug reported:

Ref: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1968929

The symptom is that there is no Wayland option with the gear icon of the

This is a reopening of the tracking bug

followup from the previous attempt to fix the problem

It's a continuation of the ongoing problem of getting NVidia and Wayland

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1987979]

2023-05-20 Thread Nathan Teodosio
> dont we risk having different versions of speech-dispatcher between
host and snap and potential weird bugs?

Since the patch would have to be backported to Jammy first so that
Firefox could pick it up (I assume we wouldn't want it's snapcraft.yaml
to pick up stuff from a PPA), I thought that a positive result with that
proposed test case would be OK, but you do have a fair point.

> And when you say host you do refer to the one where we install the
snap, not the host used for building, right?

Yes, sorry for the lack of clarity there.

2023-05-20 Thread Lissyx+mozillians
I say it's not working because I was assuming I need to use the PPA
within the snap build itself, and as stated there's only a `mantic`
release. I will probably have to rebuild from your ppa anyway because my
test VM is running `22.04`.

dont we risk having different versions of speech-dispatcher between host
and snap and potential weird bugs? And when you say `host` you do refer
to the one where we install the snap, not the host used for building,
right?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1987979]

2023-05-20 Thread Lissyx+mozillians
So this will require `0.11.4-2ubuntu1` package (currently in `mantic-
proposed`, I did rebuild myself for `jammy`) to be backported, but I am
happy to say it seems to work. Requires a reboot for the systemd socket
activation to be active by default, otherwise user needs to `systemctl
start --user speech-dispatcher.socket` as mentionned earlier.

When you say "it's not working", do you mean that the recipe I proposed
is not working, or that you did not attempt it as proposed since you
couldn't find the PPA reference in the snapcraft.yaml of the snap?

The PPA doesn't need to be in the snap, only in the host, as in the
latter is the socket and the service to be activated via that socket.

Thanks but this is not working for me. I dont see in
https://git.launchpad.net/~nteodosio/+git/geheim/tree/snapcraft.yaml where you
added your PPA reference.
```
package-repositories:
  - type: apt
ppa: nteodosio/rebuilds
```

When I do I hit this error `E: The repository
'http://ppa.launchpad.net/nteodosio/rebuilds/ubuntu focal Release' does
not have a Release file.` which makes sense since the `rebuilds` PPA
targets `mantic` serie.

This is it in a nutshell .. from another user having the same exact issue

SUMMARY

I am unable to drag and drop ANY clip from the project bin into the
Timeline. the required video and audio tracks are present, none of the
tracks are locked, and prior to My current 23.04 update on both kdenlive
and Ubuntu a few days ago, everything was working fine. i also tried
installing the ubuntu kdenlive 22.12.03 version AND the 23.04 App-images
and the Problem still persists. and i have no idea what the issue is.

***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. happens on all projects both old and Brand new projects
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
cant drag and drop any clips to the timeline

EXPECTED RESULT
cannot edit any projects because i can't get access to any of the clips from
the project bin

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 23.04
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
the only work around to being able to work on my projects is to use the V
shortcut on the clips in the timeline, but working this way will make the whole
process longer due to the clip being inserted and automatically cutting all the
other clips in the project to make space for it. this minor issue can make
things a headache when dealing with a large project with multiple clips because
things will be moved around unintentionally unless I find an empty space in the
whole project JUST to add the clip in then have to manually move the clip to
the position i want it in.

*** attached is a screencast from another user with the same exact issue
i am reporting on

Thanks for your report. I cannot reproduce the issue, so will need more

1. Can you drag a clip from the clip monitor into timeline ?
2. Can you drag a video clip from your file manager directly into timeline ?
3. Can you drag an effect (from the effects list) onto a clip in timeline ?

Yes, that is correct.

1.- Can't be added clip monitor into timeline
2.- Can be added from file manager into timeline.
3.- Can't added an effect from effect lists into timeline

By file mail i go to send a video bug demonstration.

thanks.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1815368] Re: Wallpaper "Wall with door on Gozo" has a ugly white 1 pixel border on the left side

2023-05-20 Thread carlostipton1319
I understand that even a small white border on the Ubuntu dock/panel can
create the perception of an issue with the display or the positioning of
the screen. https://thetraveltourism.com/5-common-garage-door-problems-
and-how-to-fix-them/ This can be particularly misleading if the user has
automatic wallpaper change enabled, as it may not be immediately
apparent that the issue is solely related to the wallpaper.

Wallpaper "Wall with door on Gozo" has a ugly white 1 pixel border on
  the left side

Status in ubuntu-wallpapers package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
At first this may not sound like much of a issue, but this tiny white
border actually makes it look like there's something wrong with the
Ubuntu dock/panel or like the screen is shifted 1 pixel to the right.
If the user has automatic wallpaper change enabled it may not be
obvious that the issue is only the wallpaper.

Either way, it makes this otherwise beautiful wallpaper that is
shipped with 18.04 unpleasant. See the attached picture, the issue is
even more noticeable on a highres. screen.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2020239] [NEW] After update from Kubuntu 22.04 to 23.04 via 22.20 LibreOffice opens with 1 dimensional window

2023-05-20 Thread Tony Middleton
Public bug reported:

I upgraded a machine from Kubuntu 22.04 to 23.10 and then immediately to
23.04. After logging on to 23.04 I tried to open LibreOffice documents
but only had a vertical line on the screen. After some experimentation
I found that this line was a window of zero width and it was possible to
use the mouse to widen to a usable window. Opening subsequent documents
was OK.

I have now recreated this on VirtualBox and it seems that the problem
occurs if you don't edit documents at the 23.10 stage. Steps to
recreate.

1. Install Kubuntu 22.04, run apt update/dist-upgrade.
2. Close, take snapshot, reload
3. Create LibreOffice documents, eg calc, impress and write, enter random
text.
4. Close, take snapshot, reload
5. Upgrade to 22.10
6. Close, take snapshot, reload
7. Log on, edit each document, add more random text.
8. Close, take snapshot, reload
9. Upgrade to 23.04
10. Close, take snapshot, reload
11. Log on and open documents

Following the above script which includes document updates under 22.10,
the documents open correctly in 23.04.

Repeat the above, omitting steps 7 & 8 so the documents aren't edited
under 22.10. The documents open as a zero width window in 23.04.

Could you attach your print queue's PPD file(s), from /etc/cups/ppd/?

Please do not compress the files, nor package them together. Thanks.

Bug description:
Since updating to Ubuntu 23.04. Whenever I try to print a PDF
(regardless of application the PDF is open in) it will print the PDF
  in mirror image.

If I enable printing mirror image in the settings, every other page
become mirror image as instead. (I'm printing double sided/long edge
print, so one side is normal and the other side becomes mirror image
  when I do this).

I'm trying to print to a HP Colour LaserJet CP2025dn

Note: If I print from my second device when it was running Ubuntu
22.10 it would print normally, but as soon as I updated it to 23.04,
it started having the same issue as well.

This is a default Ubuntu environment.

Output here is:

$ chromium --password-store= --enable-logging=stderr --v=1 |& grep 'backend for
OSCrypt'
[4103636:4103636:0519/230949.699268:VERBOSE1:key_storage_linux.cc(122)]
Selected backend for OSCrypt: GNOME_ANY
$

chromium continues to be able to *use* my saved passwords. But I don't know
where they're actually saved, and I can't access the plain text of the
passwords through chromium, which continues to be a problem.

chromium snap upgrade "lost" my passwords

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
On upgrade to chromium snap revision 2333 (now since upgraded to
2367), I received a window with a notice about password migration:

"Password storage via the Gnome keyring has been fixed, but for it to
work, you have to rename your old
~/snap/chromium/common/chromium/Default/Login Data file so that a new,
  working one can replace it."

I don't remember if I did this or not. However, when I went to use my
saved passwords in chromium today, I found that they were absent.

Tracking down the data in the chromium profile, I found that there was
  a ~/snap/chromium/common/chromium/Default/Login Data.old containing
all of my passwords, and a
  ~/snap/chromium/common/chromium/Default/Login Data containing a single
password entry for a site that I happened to have created a new login
for in the past few days.

That's not a very user-friendly experience on upgrade.
