Based on the data, I vote not to preseed any snaps. I was already leaning that way and thank you for adding the data. This means that are subsequent snap install, like LXD, will take much longer than expected for a non minimized image. Time taken to install LXD snap using the lxd-installer package without snapd and core22 preinstalled/seeded ``` ubuntu@cloudimg:~$ time sudo lxd --version Installing LXD snap, please be patient. 5.19 real 0m29.107s user 0m0.006s sys 0m0.005s ``` Time taken to install LXD snap using the lxd-installer package with snapd and core22 already installed. ``` ubuntu@cloudimg:~$ time sudo lxd --version Installing LXD snap, please be patient. 5.19 real 0m15.034s user 0m0.005s sys 0m0.005s ``` This is a significant difference and for a workload we intend to remain as a core tested and tracked workload. As such I propose we re- introduce core22 and snapd snaps to our seed. LXD do intend to move to the core24 snap as their base as I'm sure snapd does too so when that does happen we need to update the preseeded core snap. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054212] Re: System starts, but monitor on HDMI has no signal
Can you test some other desktop environment like GNOME? And try Wayland? At the moment all I can see is that Xorg thinks both monitors are working. So the bug may be Xorg, the amdgpu Xorg driver, XFCE, or the kernel. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: amdgpu ** Also affects: linux-hwe-6.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - System starts, but monitor on HDMI has no signal + System starts, but monitor on HDMI has no signal in 6.5 (but 6.2 works) ** Changed in: linux-hwe-6.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054212 Title: System starts, but monitor on HDMI has no signal in 6.5 (but 6.2 works) Status in linux-hwe-6.5 package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have been running with kernel 6.2 without any problems. However, when the system upgraded to kernel 6.5, the system boots, but the monitor connected via HDMI has no signal. The system seems to think everything is OK, there are no errors in the Xorg log, xrandr shows both displays, so does inxi -Fxxxrz. Both monitors are connected via the AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card, the LG using DisplayPort, the Benq using HDMI. The Benq monitor will show "No Signal Detected" when the system boots and I log into the desktop. The LG monitor shows the correct display. The Display app will show both monitors as present, it's just that nothing is actually sent via the cable to the monitor. So the monitor doesn't get any signal. If I connect the Benq via DisplayPort and the LG via HDMI, then the LG shows "No Signal Detected". Comparing the Xorg.0.log files from using kernel 6.2 and 6.5, I don't see any errors or indications why the HDMI output isn't sending data. I've attached a tar.gz file with the 6.2 and 6.5 kernel results for the Xorg.0.log, the output of "inxi -Fxxxrz" and "xrandr -q". My current work around is to boot into kernel 6.2, but I would like to see the new kernel functioning properly. I have an AZERTY keyboard. In order to switch to another application, I use Super+num (switch to application number 'num' in my dock). Since last update (Ubuntu 23.10), when the keyboard is captured by the current window, I cannot move to application 2 with Super+2 Instead, it writes a 'é' (this is the number 2 key on a US English keyboard). I have the same problem with Super+7 (è in AZERTY keyboard), but all other Super+num works fine. This behavior occurs only when I am on a window capturing my keyboard. Example: - If I am reading a PDF with Evince (keyboard is not captured for writing), everything works perfectly. - If I am writing something on Firefox/gnome-terminal, keyboards write 'é' whenever I press Super+2, and cannot move to the wanted application. - On some other applications, everything works fine (Emacs for example, even when keyboard is captured for writing). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054121] Re: Random Freezing
Thanks for the bug report. I can't yet see any cause for the freezes. Next time it happens please: 1. Note the exact time and date of the freeze. 2. Reboot. 3. Run: journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt 4. Attach the resulting text file here along with a note telling us the exact time and date of the freeze. 5. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054111] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.6.5 for mantic
** Description changed: [Impact] * LibreOffice 7.6.5 is in its fifth bugfix release of the 7.6 line: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.6#7.6.5_release * Version 7.6.2 is currently released in mantic. For a list of fixed bugs compared to 7.6.4 see the list of bugs fixed in the release candidates of 7.6.5 (that's a total of ? bugs): https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.6.5/RC1#List_of_fixed_bugs https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.6.5/RC2#List_of_fixed_bugs 7.6.5 RC1 is identical to the 7.6.5 release * Given the nature of the project, the complexity of the codebase and the high level of quality assurance upstream, it is preferable to SRU a minor release rather than cherry-pick selected bug fixes. [Testing] * Upstream testing. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 2054100] Re: Can't upgrade keyboard-configuration on Noble
>Yes, I have proposed enabled. I assume you are aware it's not generally recommended to keep proposed enabled and install all upgrades. Anyways, that means this is the same issue which is keeping xkeyboard-config from migrating to the release repo. Regarding comma or pipe, I cannot say for certain because I'm not that familiar with this package but it might be on purpose. Some packages do it to lock their dependencies in place. This is especially true if the underlying package do large changes so you cannot be sure if everything still works with newer versions or if you need to know what the changes are to take full advantage of the new things. This means that 2.38.1, 2.38.2 or security fixes will still match and be installable but never versions like 2.39 would be blocked. Maybe all console-setup needs is a manual rebuild to pick up the current version available or it might require further changes to the package to handle the newer changes. The way forward will probably be a newer version of console-setup which supports the latest version, when that is uploaded to -proposed both packages will work and can be migrated together. In the meantime, xkeyboard-config will be kept in -proposed in order to not make other packages uninstallable. ** Also affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Can't upgrade keyboard-configuration on Noble + Can't upgrade keyboard-configuration on Noble-proposed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054100 Title: Can't upgrade keyboard-configuration on Noble-proposed Status in console-setup package in Ubuntu: New Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm testing Noble using multipass and I got this error when I try to upgrade the system: ubuntu@ubuntu2404:~$ sudo apt full-upgrade Reading package lists... This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: keyboard-configuration : Depends: xkb-data (< 2.38A) but 2.41-2 is to be installed E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
