[Desktop-packages] [Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

2015-05-25 Thread Abhirav Kumar
well this bug is sill not fixed in upstream kernel I had Linux 4.0 installed
for about a month still had the same problem now I am on Ubuntu 15.04 and I am
having the same problem.
Things like this generally don't look good on famous systems also there is a
concern for our external drives condition getting deteriorated.
Linux community is one of the biggest developer communities in the verse please
do something.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1309845] Re: fglrx drivers not working after upgrading to ubuntu 14.04

2014-11-30 Thread Abhirav Kumar
My status changed and came back around to hit me again.

I downloaded the drivers from AMD's website version 14.4 rev2 and
installed it. It worked like a charm until I turned the switchable
graphics into powersaving mode and rebooted my laptop and from then
onward it never detects my hardware.

I have tried uninstalling and installing the same driver and my laptop
starts in a low graphics mode

Bug description:
Keyboard keys such as the arrows, Alt-F4, PageUp/PageDown, etc. often
get 'stuck' and continue being 'clicked' even after they are
physically released. For example when clicking Alt-F4, sometimes it
gets stuck so all the windows are closed instead of just one.

My configuration is Feisty + Xgl + Compiz Fusion. My previous
configuration was Edgy + Xgl + Beryl, where this didn't happen. Others
have reported the same problem without using either Xgl or Compiz.

The keyboard itself isn't the problem. When dual-booting to Windows,
everything works fine. Also, the problem happens with two different
  keyboards (internal laptop, external USB).

My best guess is that the problem occurs at time of high system load.
Somehow during these times the key-release signal gets lost and the
key-press is repeated indefinitely. This happens more often with
Compiz configurations because Compiz tends to increase system load. It
also happens more often with power-hungry apps like Firefox and
  Acrobat Reader for similar reasons.

PS: When the keys would repeat all input devices would be locked up.
ie. mouse won't move, clicks don't do anything, keyboard presses don't
register. Then when it becomes unstuck, the mouse moves around and
  everything. Hope this helps.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 792085] Re: Automatic remount of safely removed drive

2014-11-16 Thread Abhirav Kumar
This bug has bugged me since ubuntu 11.04 (when I started using Ubuntu)
till 14.04 (even though LTS still has this problem) and still there is
no one that solves the problem.

As of today I have installed all the update of and using Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

When I safely remove my external HDD in a 3.0 USB port it turns off for a
second and then restarts and is mounted again.
The same does not happen when I plug my HDD to a 2.0 USB port.

As I have mentioned above, I have lost valuable data because of this bug,
please fix it. I will help anyway I can.

Title:
tlmgr unable to set up TLPDB

Status in “texlive-base” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When attempting to use tlmgr on Ubuntu 13.10, the program fails.
Different options produce slightly different output:

  $ tlmgr --gui
(running on Debian, switching to user mode!)
  Loading local TeX Live database;
this may take some time, please be patient ...
cannot setup TLPDB in /home/nskillen/texmf at /usr/bin/tlmgr line 5308.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/bin/tlmgr line 4439.

  $ tlmgr update --all
(running on Debian, switching to user mode!)
cannot setup TLPDB in /home/nskillen/texmf at /usr/bin/tlmgr line 5308.

The commands also fails when using sudo to run as root, with exactly
  the same output.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1275228] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort()

2014-04-21 Thread Abhirav Kumar
This is very awful
I don't know why this bug is labelled expired
I have been having this problem ever since I have started using ubuntu i.e from
the release of 10.10 to 14.04
and there is still no change in the errors status

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.04 and installed the startup packages like
restricted-extras fglrx fglrx-pxpress gimp vlc and added some well know and
some other ppas
And just like every other time I started getting this Xorg error
Sometimes my Ubuntu even opens in Low Graphics Mode
I can however be fixed by restarting the system most of the time at other times
I have to uninstall my amd drivers and never Install them again

I am willing to do anything to fix this. Please Help

Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort()

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 14.04 daily build.
I did a dist-upgrade and I had one broken package.

  gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-
  pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

After a restart I tried to login but the login freezes when entered
  the correct password.

I did some sudo stop lightdm and sudo start lightdm.
And tried to login again but it did the same thing.

My work around was to uninstall lightdm and install it again then
reinstalled ubuntu-desktop. Now everything works again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1277985] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort(no screens found)

2014-04-21 Thread Abhirav Kumar
I see the same error but however my screen works fine.
The only problem i have sometimes is the Low Graphics Mode, which goes away on
restarting most of the times.
The main problem happens when it does not go away i.e until i completely remove
my amd proprietary drivers. The error come back as soon as I re install them
again

After a restart I tried to login but the login freezes when entered
  the correct password.

I did some sudo stop lightdm and sudo start lightdm.
And tried to login again but it did the same thing.

My work around was to uninstall lightdm and install it again then
reinstalled ubuntu-desktop. Now everything works again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1239087] Re: Safely remove is not working (or broken) in Gnome Disks

2014-03-24 Thread Abhirav Kumar
For me the command “udisks --detach /dev/sdX” detaches the device for a
second and the device is then redetected and mounted again always

How ever the command “sg_start --stop /dev/sdX” does the same in the first try
and actually detached and turned off my hdd
in the first try but after that I've been getting the same results as above

I performed these tests with my Seagate Backup Plus Drive on Ubuntu

Viola, it actually worked this time
My steps on the same configuration were:

1.sg_start --start /dev/sdX
2.sg_start --stop /dev/sdX

And my drive i.e Seagate Backup Plus Drive was powered down for about 1
minute or so then I don't know why or how it restarted
