[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1359211] Re: Mouse cursor tiny when hovering unity elements in high DPI mode

2015-12-03 Thread Alessio Treglia
** Description changed:

+
+ [Impact]
+
  On a high DPI screen (220 DPI) the mouse cursor is really tiny when
  hovering unity elements. There are various keys in dconf to change the
  cursor's scale factor or size. I've managed to change it in a way that
  it looks normal when inside application windows, but its still tiny when
  on unity elements.

  I think this should be set automatically by the scale factor setting in
  system settings.

+ (Using unity 7.3.1+14.10.20140811-0ubuntu1)

- (Using unity 7.3.1+14.10.20140811-0ubuntu1)
+ [Test Case]
+
+  * Log in
+  * Launch Firefox
+ * Move the mouse over the panel or the launcher,
+then back over the Firefox window.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Mouse cursors might appear wrong for some actions

  I have rebuild the driver with git from 2015-04-28, and the video

  The bugfix is for Generation 8 Intel graphics like Intel NUC with Core
I5-5250 and HD6000 grahics in my case.
  The used version is Ubuntu vivid amd64.

  [Test Case]
  Launch Skype, VLC or mplayer and use xv as video output.

  None. Admittedly I may not be the right one to fully assess the risk.

There was a small but important typo in my previous message, please
replace "corruptions are visible" with "corruptions are ***no longer***

  I have rebuild the driver with git from 2015-04-28, and the video
  output is correct now.

  The bugfix is for Generation 8 Intel graphics like Intel NUC with Core
I5-5250 and HD6000 grahics in my case.
  The used version is Ubuntu vivid amd64.

Title:
  accounts-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_connection_send()

Status in “accountsservice” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “accountsservice” source package in Precise:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi. A few weeks ago after log in to the system as a normal user,
  'accountservice' (used for querying and manipulating user account
  informations) crashed and now it is a regular problem, which happens
  all the time -- after every login. I think, that's all what I can
  write about this issue, because everything seems to be okay -- no
  system freezing etc.

  {
  * ProblemType: Crash
  * Architecture: i386
  * DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 (Xubuntu 12.04 variant)
  * Uname: Linux 3.2.0-51-generic-pae i686
  * ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.4
  * NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
  * Package: accountsservice 0.6.15-2ubuntu9.6
  * Segfault happened at: 0xb76bb7c3:   mov0x10(%eax),%eax
  }

  Also '/var/log/apport.log' file contain some informations about this
  issue. Everything is in a attached log file. I have no ideas, why it
  started to happen. Only one thing, which I've done for a few weeks was
  'conky-all' install. Nothing more, nothing less - no serious
  administrative tasks performed (except e.g. kernel or programs
  updates, but it seems to be obvious).

  ### EDIT: Because this issue still occurs I did some small information
  changes about latest Xubuntu update -- from 12.04.2 to 12.04.3
  version. Besides next system point update and a new kernel version
  informations, I didn't change anything related with this bug when all
  of this started to happen. ###

  | Description:Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS (with 3.2.0-53.81 Linux kernel)

Bug description:
  This bug report is intended to serve as a meta to survey the state of
  the different Nautilus extensions written in Python in Ubuntu 11.10.

  I have first noted that nautilus-image-manipulator does not show up
  when right-clicking on an image in Ubuntu 11.10, which it should (and
  does in Debian testing, where the package comes from).

  Looking at the release notes, significant changes have been made to
  Nautilus-Python in versions 0.7 and 1.0 that change the paths where
  the extensions are to be looked in. Ubuntu 11.10 is the first Ubuntu
  version to use Nautilus-Python > 0.7, so I'm suspecting this affects
  all Nautilus extensions written in Python.

  I have opened 2 bug reports that are relevant to this issue [0] and [1]. I
suspect the problem is related to 2 things:
  - The extensions are not looked for anymore in the familiar
/usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0/python
  - Importing the module `nautilus` is not valid anymore

  Please mark your project/package as affect by this bug so that we can
  keep track of the affected packages, and share the solution to fix
  this. Don't forgot to add a comment to this bug when doing so.
