[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1134494] [NEW] No Facebook notifications (other than chat messages) are received under messaging indicator or through NotifyOSD in Ubuntu 12.10
Public bug reported: No Facebook notifications (other than chat messages) are received under messaging indicator or through NotifyOSD in Ubuntu 12.10, even after complete Facebook webapp integration. There are no desktop notifications about Likes, Comments, Shares and Friend requests, mostly that go under the globe icon on facebook.com, and the user needs to go to the browser to check them out which defeats the purpose of pure webapp integration. Please note this bug is not about IM chat messages, which as of now are correctly tracked under messaging indicator, but about the lack of other Facebook notifications as mentioned above. Same bug here on Ubuntu 12.10. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1131263] Re: Gwibber does not add Facebook account, external browser says Success.
It was working all right before I tried reinstalling gwibber today, which I decided to do since it was not showing me Facebook feed as it is supposed to do. So as a side step for cleanly reinstalling gwibber, I decided to delete my earlier working Facebook account for reconfiguration from Online Accounts, and now when I am trying to create a new one from Online Accounts, bang, it shows what is mentioned above in the bug, an external browser window with a Success message, and nothing going forward from there. So it definitely has been introduced very lately. This does not seem to be at gwibber's end, which is broken in itself but rather from the Facebook's end, since Facebook integration is not working even in a decoupled manner now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gwibber in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1131263 Title: Gwibber does not add Facebook account, external browser says Success. Status in “gwibber” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Software versions: Ubuntu 12.10 x86_64 Gwibber + services 3.6.0-0ubuntu1.1 (works the same for 3.6.0-0ubuntu1) I go to Add social network account and add Facebook, it opens a new window which says Please authorize Ubuntu to access your Facebook account + Cancel button. Doing this opens an EXTERNAL BROWSER WINDOW which promts me to login Facebook - promt to allow application (Ubuntu) - promt for permissions - BLANK PAGE WITH Success. And nothing else happens. gwibber-service.log shows nothing about Facebook, but contains debugging information for gwibber-service-twitter.
